PEAM #64, 06/06/13 – A Kiss is Just a Kiss, A Sigh is Just a Sigh? Really? I Don’t Think So!

Good evening, I am filling in for Tablet Jefa who is off on a secret mission (not really, I am just creating a little drama in my life of entertainment for two bored poodles and forest fire vigilance) so I am here to post a recap:

Elias tells Maricela that the rich bitch is indeed one of the richest of the country.  Maricela rightly is not impressed with the woman's rudeness and lack of class.

Pati continues her broken heart drama in front of Alma and Rogue but asks Rogue to walk her down to her car to protect her.  They fight in the hallway and after she slaps him he pulls his fist back to everyone's shock but his usual lack of control slips and he stops just in time. She can't believe he is going through with the wedding to her best friend when she knows he loves her.  We know it too.

Baby Valentina plays right into Vero's fantasy as she tells papa Jesús that the princess in the fable they are constructing together is named Veronica. Vero gives us a rare ear to ear smile behind the door.

Cardenas and Ricardo talk about the end of year party and how he should use the opportunity to negotiate for his positon.

Elias tells Maricela that his latest complication is that Valentina's therapist is fatally attracted, I mean hopelessly in love with him. Maricela understands how he is such a bon-bon and uses the moment to get into a passionate kiss with him but it is interrupted by our omnipresent Chatita.

Corazon Indomable #18 From Rags to Maxi dresses

You’ll have to excuse me today, I am nursing the biggest hangover from the ‘Basura’ game yesterday. I stopped counting after 20. I’m not sure if I’m sober yet, and I have a pounding headache. Also, no cc’s this time, my recorder didn’t record. Stoopid recorder. So help me out in the comments for what I missed or got wrong. I’ll try to correct it later.

Lucia is showing MC a pile of jewelry. MC is rightfully suspicious, but Lucy promises not to snatch away that football from Charlie Brown. This time she means it. She feels bad that Octavio left her, and she wants to help. Really. She will send the jewelry to the kitchen where MC can get it. Lucia continues to talk to Ester about the plans to get rid of MC once and for all, get her to trust her before she pulls that football away for the final time, and oh no, here we go again. Another basura. Salud! I’m going to need some serious intervention when this TN is over. So Charlie Brown goes into the kitchen once again naívely believing Lucy will hold the ball until Charlie’s foot makes contact. MC gets the bags and starts to look through them. Santa is watching and worries enough for the two of them. Santa doesn’t trust Lucy. She’s seen Lucy snatch that ball away every single time Charlie tries to kick it. But Charlie is certain this time will be different. (I hope everyone gets the Charlie Brown/Lucy analogy, because this makes perfect sense to me in my major hangover head.)

Amores Verdaderos #146 Wed 6/5/13 A Perfect Day for Love, A Perfect Day for Murder

In which:
  • Victoria and Arriaga exchange vows of love and then fret over how to tell the kids.
  • Lili keeps pestering Guzmán and rejecting Roy
  • Bea and Guillo are reunited
  • Aníbal pays Lili for her silence and in doing so, antagonizes Candelaria.
  • Nabila's life proves nasty, brutish and short

Idyll in Cuernavaca
Nelson is gone and Victoria is uneasy about what he might do next.  Arriaga tells her they can think about the outside world tomorrow. This is their first night together.  They kiss.  Awww.

The Kitchen of the Balvanera Mansion
Liliana turns a deaf ear to Roy, insisting that she only has eyes for her Frankie.  Maybe she and Roy had something at one time but he ruined it with his lies.  For his part, Roy can't believe she's rejecting him for a guy who doesn't love her.  Doesn't she get it that Guzmán and Nikki are in love with each other? (That is, they are both 10's.) He, Roy the Boy, is the one is love with her!  (That is, he and Lili are both 6's, maybe 7's.)

Qué Bonito Amor #38 (Mex 56.2-57) Wednesday 6/5/13 Jailhouse Mariachi Rock

Colosso and Jorge continue jabbing at each other in the dressing room as they get ready for tonight’s performance.  Colosso laments things aren't the same without his “chiquita”.

Meanwhile Maria and the Merry Wenches serenade a double-decker tourist bus with “Cielito Lindo”.  Who knew the Merry Wenches were so talented?  A guitar, a trumpet, a tambourine, and an accordion – and yet it sounds like a full mariachi ensemble.  Wow, such talent is wasted at JNTR!

At JNTR Elvira and Lourdes wait on tables as Colosso and Jalisco sing the JNTR theme song – “Jalisco”  Que lindo es Jalisco, palabra de honor.

Later at depa Mendoza, Paloma asks mamita for permission to work at Doña Magnolia's fonda.  She feels guilty that Maria is carrying the load for all of them.  The extra money would help to pay for Amalia's meds.

PEAM #63-6/5/13: Super-Jesus, Avon Police (And Counselor in His Spare Time)

Recap By Pablo

SuperJesús, whose superpower is his masculine intuition and his kryptonite is minding his own business, saved Fernando's life. He somehow knew something was wrong, followed Fernando to the street, not to the parking area, and with his super-sight, after turning his head to the sky, saw him about to jump the 400 foot building (really). He then ran up the stairs (did not use the elevator), made it in time, saved him and then scolded him for being a coward!! How about that?

Too bad his superpowers don't include being in more than one place at a time, and after that he went to talk to Julio about Xóchitl, otherwise, he could have saved Elías from Marta the therapist, whose hand and fingers ran all over Elías while she confessed her love for him. How did that happen? Well, through osmosis, or implanted memories, because all the love Verónica used to have for Elías, Marta was relating to and feeling the same for him. Of course, that happened BJ (before Jesús), when Elías was Verónica's everything, her life and her soulmate. How can someone avoid falling in love with a guy so great as Elías? The perfect father, husband, friend? The best thing about all this, now that Verónica has a different flavor of the month is that Elías could be 100% single pretty soon, and that is good news to Marta. My question is, and maybe the reason why Marta won't give therapy to Verónica anymore (she is afraid she could fall for Jesús with all this sweet talking about him lately), now that he has replaced Elías in Verónicas heart, house and mind, and picturing him as the ''new'' more perfect father, husband and friend. Would Marta also fall in love with him as she discovers all the qualities Verónica sees in him? Don't miss any deceiving previews, or you will miss the other half of the story, the one that exists only in the mind of whoever does the voice over in those previews... Don't say I didn't warn you...

Amores Verdaderos #145 Tue 6/4/13 Everyone declares love for everyone else. Except Nelson.

Amores Verdaderos Cap 145, 6-4-13—Everyone declares love for everyone else. Except Nelson.

Love on the Lawn—Big Angel and Vicki finally do it! (But they don't do "it" on the lawn. They just have a picnic and smooch there.)

SUMMARY, not in order, may be condensed to preserve my sanity.

* We have a refrito of Vicki and Big Angel doing their mating dance, wandering all over the estate in various positions and smooching. Finally they make it to the bedroom and disrobing commences. We start a love scene which we don't see in detail.

Love is in the air!

* Betty is doing better in the hospital. Meanwhile, Mr. Mezclo. (Can't remember his name—the homeless guy) is wringing his hands in guilt because he didn't try to reunite Guillo with his family sooner. He prays for forgiveness. Behind him, Paula and Felipe are talking in the waiting room about how they hope to locate Guillo soon—oblivious that Guzmancito has already found him! We cut to Guzman chatting with Guillo in his hospital room.

Poor guy, feeling worried and guilty.

Qué Bonito Amor #37 (Mex 55-56.1) Tuesday 6/4/13 Que Pasa? Bonito Amor in the Afternoon

And Other Stuff (E-Mails, Phone Calls, Betrayals, Threats, Entrapments, One Song and the All-Girl Band is Formed); Cap. 55, and 56, pt. 1 [maybe]

Todo lo que Paso Ayer, Pasó Ayer

These are the Highlights and the Lowlights. It’s up to Carayers to figure out which is which.  Taken from notes and memory.  Recapper will be back tomorrow to amplify and snark a bit [maybe], but definitely will make any necessary corrections for posterity.

Esto Pasó Hoy

Amalia’s Place
Jorge Alfredo is wrapping up his convo with Amalia when Isa staggers in from the bedroom.  She wants a story. Maria is out looking for work.  Why doesn’t he wait for Maria to return and meanwhile tell her more about the Moon Princess.  Nope, not until she does her math.  Poor little thing, numbers just seem to confuse her.  Looks like she’s not getting a story from JA.

Gloria’s Place
Paloma and Roddy are actually doing a good job studying and not horsing around.  Gloria has prepared them a special dish from their region—Tacos de Trompas (they are very yummy little pork filled tacos made from wheat flour—said to have been introduced by Lebanese immigrants and popular in Nuevo Leon and other parts of northern Mexico).  There is certainly puppy dog love in the air and Gloria is ok with it.  She likes Paloma a lot.  Paloma assures Roddy that he can “Cuentas conmigo.”  Gloria asks about her Quinceañera fiesta, but Paloma tells her she cancelled it.  It was her decision—she didn’t have a chambelan anyway.  Roddy looks a bit guilty.

Amalia’s Place
Maria arrives back home with ingredients for dinner. She’s happy to see JA, until she sees his face [with a tiny little redness on one cheek—how she could see that is beyond me]. What’s that, how did you get that?  JA sheepishly confesses that he an Coloso got into a little rumble-for-two. Exasperated, Maria wants to know for WHAT?  Hmmm, he made me mad because the coward won’t get an ADN test. And that was enough to provoke you? Hmmm, no. How many times have I told you, NO GOLPES. Gulp. No more fighting—what is it about men who want to settle their differences a golpes? What did I tell you the last time? Hmm, no more violencia a golpes. Forget me. Go away. He protests. It was legitimate. She looks in his puppy-dog eyes and relents a little. When you realize how opposed I am to fighting, THEN come looking for me.  Ooooh, is this it for our two-never-to-be-separated lovers?

Coloso’s Place
He's pacing around the place. The Mendozas are ganging up on him. JA with his Chiquita and Paloma with that kid who thinks he’s Coloso's.

Irasema’s Place
Susano and Ira are having a little afternoon delight.  It’s sweet. He’s so gentle with her. She lets him take the lead. They need some privacy, but we might take a peek a little later.

Amalia’s Place
JA and Maria are still “discussing” violence and manly pride. He unexpectedly kisses her. She forgives him.  Then Maria fills him in on her busy day—quitting the bar gig, quitting school, looking for work.  Whoa, back up, JA says, you quit your job at the bar, why?  It’s all Elvira’s fault.  Maria got tired of her abuse and bullying.  She spent the day looking for work. They have so many debts and family upkeep to consider.  JA feels responsible for her situation, for her, for her family.  He promises that someday she will lack for nothing.  That’s a nice sentiment but it’s not reality, Maria tells him, poor people have to live from day to day. They don’t have a some-day. Those are dreams. JA doesn’t want her to quit school.  She had to, she did, y punto.

PEAM, Tuesday 6/4/13 (#62): I Withdraw the Question

Fernando has a LENGTHY flashback to last night, when he went up to the roof without any wet laundry. Amid a breathtaking view of the surrounding mountains, Chucho persuades Fernando to put on his big-boy pants and face his problems alive.

Now alone, Fernando tries to gripe about that meddlesome "Encanto," but realizes that Chucho saved his life. Fernando can't figure out why, especially after the nasty way he's always treated Chucho.

Chatita has prepared some lovely broth for Vero, conveniently forgetting that Vero had requested jasmine tea. (If I recall correctly, the broth was already on the stove last night and I don't think Chatita ever intended to serve anything else!) Vero asks where Alma went; Chatita says she's folding the laundry. She suggests that Vero get together with Alma so that they can compare notes on their own time instead of always asking her about each other!

Alma has to go back to the office. No soup for her! She pauses in tribute at Chatita's shrine to St. Thomas.

Vero says the soup looks great, but she starts picking things out of her bowl. Hasn't she any manners at all? I withdraw the question!

Corazon indomable #17, Tuesday, 06/04/13 A broken hearted heroine, villains plotting ten schemes at a time and a hero that is in time out for the moment

Yesterday MariCruz got her crazy on by shooting Octavio in the leg. He was on a horse, moving, so she must be a very good shot, since she hit him exactly where she intended to. And Octavio somehow realized she was his aggressor (if that is not true love, than I don’t know what is) and decided to cover for her. But every time he does something decent, his tiny brain reminds him that he’s an idiot, so he goes and does something unpleasant, like making love to her under false pretense. And then leaving her to Miguel’s will. And then staying fully clothed even when injured (Note to MariCruz: next time shoot him in the shoulder, or better yet, in the ribs area, watching Cristian de la Fuente get “cured” from his shot in AB was truly…riveting).

So, we have a heroine who could make a great villain/ stalker and a hero that is to dumb to live (almost literally). Let’s see what happens next.

I rearranged some scenes, for better fluidity.

Today
Jose Antonio is at MC’s hut, telling her that Octavio has left the ranch. MC refuses to believe this, since she knows he’s injured and he promised her he’d stay. When she finally realizes that JA is telling the truth, she starts to cry and scream. She doesn’t understand what happened, she was just with him and they were ok, he was so nice to her. JA is losing his temper in front of her reluctance to believe him and he’s being kind of harsh cruel when he tells her that Octavio never loved her, he just had his fun and then left, like all rich guys do (bitter much, JA?).

Amores Verdaderos #144 Mon 6/3/13 FINALLY a bit of relief for Frankie!!, the 3 amores of Vicky have their due... Carlos: his moment to man up to Anyballs; Angel, his moment in paradise; Nil-Brains, his cuernos

Recap of Vicky confronting Carlos by the SUV, she admits her mistake of the past in chosing husband, but that he has a double identity and that she kissed Carlos, not this stranger in front of her. He increases the pressure. 'Your bodyguard said he loves you. Do you love him??' She won't answer.

At Nikki's room, Nil-Brains comes on, wants to talk. She doesn't. How could you marry that... 'Low-bookie'... She won't hear any explanations. She yells he is a married man. He won't admit his mistakes, would rather blame her mother. She stopped 'fulfilling her marital duty, I am young, had to look elsewhere'. Nikki won't bulge, 'you let her become my friend!, and you let her be in this house and mock my mother and me!'. He claims he could not stop it. She won't hear it. 'You had every chance of confessing, but you would not dare lose her!' Nil-Brains changes strategy, begs Nikki not to hurt KenDrat, 'she is pregnant with your sister, whether you like it or not'... Nikki leaves in a huff.

Back to teenagers in their late 40s in the parking lot, he wants an answer, she won't admit loving Arriaga, swears she won't be with Arriaga EVER!... He asks 'what about me?' Not sure. I am confused. I see more resentment in you than love. Have to go away alone to think about it all.
At hospital, Bea wakes up. Realizes she lost her new baby and is very sad. Dances is there to console her. She is really sad, she already was loving this new baby, now don't have any of my children... yada yada... Dances wants to talk about their future, family. Bea won't even listen about anything but finding her son. Dances tells her they have leads, that Guillo was headed for Mexico.
Meanwhile at Mezcalitos, Guillo is really ill, very high fever. Mez gets real scared.
Mez worries that there is no money for clinic or meds. Mez prays to virgin to save his new grandkid.

At B house, JM and Polita are caring for Balzac. JM is taking real good care of him along with Stefano. They ask for Odiosa. JM tells her and Lilli that Stefano will send her to complete her recovery at Switzerland clinic. Polita tells them that Bea's ex husb died and Bea is in hospital and Guillo is not found yet. They all will pray for Guillo to be found soon. JM ready to get back to work once Odiosa leaves.

Vicky tells Adri about Carlos and Jean C being same guy. Vicky asks Adri if there is anything between them. Adri says no, and if he had not turned out to be Carlos... he must love you very much to fake being simple employee at grocery wholesaler just to find out where he stands with 'the love of his life'.

Corazón Indomable #16, 6/3/2013: One Final Lie, One Final Shag, and our Galan Scurries Away without a Goodbye

Recap by LatinaInMD

Sharpshooter MC shoots Octavio, who manages to stay on his horse and make it home.  He approaches Maria barely hanging on, tells her he got shot in the leg with pellets and asks her to go get his brother; Maria dutifully obeys and quickly returns with Miguel.  As they both help him walk, Octavio tells Maria no one must find out about this.

MC is back at the shack hiding the shotgun and telling herself Octavio is now hurt and can no longer leave.  Meanwhile, Maria clean up Octavio's wounds and he instructs her to get rid of everything.  Miguel thinks there is a murderer on the ranch but Octavio insists it's not important and to not tell the police, as that would surely delay his departure; for the same reason he refuses to see a doctor.

MC thought bubbles about what she did to Octavio and wonders why she didn't run to help him.  (Perhaps because you have a screw loose, my dear.)  Gramps shows up and MC asks him if he has heard any "news".

Qué Bonito Amor #36 (Mex 53.2-54) Monday 6/3/13

Capitulo 53, Part 2: Mothers On the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown

Mendoza Apartment: Almira notices Maria is wearing a man's shirt and demands to know where she was all night. She jumps to the conclusion that Maria was boinking Jorge Alfredo, but Maria tells her what happened. She starts to freak, but Maria manages that well. Almira still goes on about how Jorge Alfredo will hurt Maria [who must be as tired of hearing that as we are]. Maria finally tells her she resigned from the bar; Almira es impactada.

Dawn over the rolling waves [so are we now heading to El Lay?]

Reyes Apartment [not yet, I guess]: It looks like Rodrigo got a haircut since the night before (and it does not flatter him). Gloria hugs him and tries to reassure him as Jorge Alfredo watches. She seems to know all that happened the night before. Rodrigo exits the room. Gloria thanks Jorge Alfredo, telling him she was worried about Oscar's reaction to the news.

PEAM #61 06/03/13 - The Dark Days After Christmas Aren't All About Discount Sales

Rogue is being solicitous of Susana, did her husband die while I was away? Probably not, he wants to know if either Alma or Fernando are in. Susana tells him that Fernie is in a foul mood. Rogue shrugs and says what else is new? But Rogue heads towards Fernando's office and here comes Panfilo. He pretends to shake hands and be a stranger to Maricela who is very reluctantly polite, Xochi thinks he is so friendly.  Fernando isn't being the least bit friendly to Rogie, Fernando claims he ruined his life, Descua left him forever, Rogue claims to have done it for his own good.  Descua was rendering him mindless without liberty and he only wants him to be free.  Fernando says he is ruined, but Rogue counters with sincere confusion of how he could be ruined over feelings for a mere "woman??" Fernando bemoans the light of his life has gone forever, maybe he has a brain cell left as he explains that he had something of his own for once and now he has nothing including he doesn't have the will to live any longer.

Paty has nothing either but continues to pretend that perhaps Chucho is bringing more than hot coffee to her.  He asks her if she knows why Alma is so bitter (enpeñada). For stubbornness (terka) Paty responds. Alma always wants to follow her plans exactly even when they don't make her happy.  Paty wants to rub her uhhhh, ego against him a bit more but he excuses himself and seems to have learned to turn around and step away while he is delivering his good byes. Paty, licks her lovely lips at this interest of Chucho's in Alma's state of mind.

Fernando let's Rogie know that since Rog ruined his chance at happiness he has a mind to tell Alma all about Patycake and Jessica, the whips, the affairs, the film.  We see Rogue's eyes grow wide in fear but Fernie assures Rogie he isn't going to sink to this filth (porquería)  and bids him a final Adios!!

Salsero is in with Betty and Betty wants to know about the low one, did the cops get him? Salsero tells her he's dead, the cops shot him during the shoot out, he'll never hurt her again. She looks relieved but wants to know where Guillo is, he must be with his Abue. Salsero tells her that the low one took him to the country and that Abue doesn't have him, he ran away. The cops are looking for him now. Betty is really upset cause they looked for poor Guillo for four months already and never found him. Now he is all alone and noone to care for him. Salsero wants her to be calm. Meantime, out in the waiting area, Felipe and Pau want to know if Betty knows about the low one being dead and that Guillo is missing. Guzmancito is sure that Salsero told her. They hope Betty takes this well cause if not she could lose, and Felipe cuts Pau off and they are going to the chapel to pray.

Qué Bonito Amor #35 (Mex 52-53.1) Friday 5/31/13 Fatherhood: The Good, The Bad and The Fugally Ugly or There Are Fathers and Then There Are Fathers

Cap 51 partial -52 -53 partial

While Irasema and Susanito are enjoying a passionate lip-lock at the end of the song (a difficult tempo and melody which Sr. Biaggio has nailed superlatively well) Fernando de los mil amores is hiding inside Roxana’s bedroom closet desperately trying to control his sphincter.  Regino and his two gorillas race in, look out the window, and decide nothing more to do and--we assume--they leave the way they came.  This apparently has given Fer a pass to jump out the window himself cuz we see him a couple minutes later walking merrily down the street and taking a cell call from another of his lovers.

Meanwhile, Lt. Curtis and BFF Gala are still spying on Com. Derecho and his dinner companion whom she still assumes to be his latest snatch from across the room.  Well, we all know how “assume” breaks down:  it makes an ass of u and an ass of Lt. Curtis, who races over to the comandante’s table and before he can introduce his daughter to her, starts hassling him over him being there with his lover.  Date Carolina gets all smoochie-face and cuddly with him and smiles mischievously over at Curtis.  “—Who wouldn’t want to be this attractive man’s lover?”  Wink, smile.  Derecho looks at Curtis.  “—Hello,  darling little one.”  Curtis fights back her tears.  (Huh?  Is this poor direction or was something lost in translation?  Who’d he call Darling?  Curtis or Caroline?  Truly I do not want to review this FF worthy relationship/conversation again.)

At JNTR Bar, sly bastardo de Rubin eavesdrops on Rigoberto and JAntos discuss how he’s grown as a human being, jumping from trucker, to mechanic, to one fine mariachi singer, and then to someone who has learned to love.  JAntos allows it’s all due to his guardian angel, Maria.  All the more reason to fess up to her, advises Rigoberto.  He’d like to tell her the whole truth, but he’s afraid of losing her.  That’s Ruben’s cue to jump in and admit he’s got his nose out of joint sticking it where it doesn’t belong.  “—Ahah! I knew you were hiding something and can’t be trusted!  What is it you’re hiding?!?!?”   JAntos suffers a nano-moment of indecision before going into defensive attack mode.

Curtis loses it and starts attacking Carolina.  “—Don’t you provoke me, little girl!”  Com. Derecho tries to explain but can’t get a word in edgewise.  “You’re a common slut and this man deserves the best of the best!”  He tells Curtis to behave but Caro says let her continue.  Lt. Curtis is confounded.  “--Say what?”  “--He’s  my papi perfecto!”  Curtis looks for the nearest crack in the floor to curl up into.

Back at the JNTR, we enjoy a Mutt’nJeff moment as Rigoberto gets up to face off with Ruben over sticking his out-of-joint nose into places it has not been invited.

[much more to come]

Corazón Indomable #15, 5/31/13: Maricruz Does NOT Listen to the Advice of Her Theme Song

RECAP BY CECE

The Short
Tav has not yet recovered his bout of galanitis.
Lucia still hates MC.
The Voice is still determined to find his daughter
MC is putting up a front but deep down inside she still loves HER Octavio.  She will do ANYTHING to keep him from leaving.

And the Looongg

MC is showing off her new riding skills in front of Tav and hottie Eduardo. Tav is worried about MC hurting herself so he chases after her. Tav introduces the two and Eduardo comments on MC beauty and excellent riding skills. MC is all like “yea I know” (love this newfound confidence and attitude). Tav wants to know why MC took the horse when he would have given it to her if she just asked. Topic moves to Tav who gets shut down once more when MC firmly states that he is no longer important to her. Eduardo says of course this conceited -----and MC cuts him saying she’s the only one who can diss her man (Lol!).  After expressing how much she does not care about Tav and how he can leave tomorrow for all she cares, she sassily exits back to her hut. Eduardo tells Tav that obviously MC does not care about him and he should move on. Tav just stares in confusion at MC’s new attitude, he believes she is pretending (because obviously women do not just get over him that quickly…. Maybe Eduardo was right).

TELEMUNDO Y MAS - week of June 3

June already!! Have fun.

Labels: , , ,

Weekend Discussion: An open letter from your fans; Televisa, you need our help.

High-definition TV probably sounded like the greatest thing in the world … until we realized that many of our favorite actors and actresses are aging past the age your writers usually assign to protagonists. There does not seem to be an easy transition for a still-handsome and still-fit actor to go from the almost-innocent young Romeo to the worldly-wise Prospero because there are almost no lead roles in between those two. Actors like Fernando Colunga and Jorge Salinas are continually cast as characters younger than themselves in remake after remake of older stories without adequate story adjustment for their stage of maturity and we think they deserve better.
