PEAM #30-4/19/13: Breaking News: All of Avon Gathers at La Fontaine for Dinner, There Was an Incident, Film at Eleven.

We start this epi with that cab ride to Vero's with Xochi and Chucho. They arrive and Xochi kisses Chucho. He is very verklempt and doesn't know what to do. Xochi finally stops and apologizes for being so impulsive. Chucho doesn't say anything, he can't think of anything to say. Chucho pays the cabdriver, he is the same one that he owed money to before. The cabdriver is estatic, paid twice on the same day, Yahoo! Xochi runs out of the cab, ahead of Chucho and knocks on the door. Chucho is lagging behind.

Meanwhile, Fern is in the office looking for Discua, and Jess runs into him. He wants to know where Discua is. Jess is only too glad to tell him Discua is going to La Fontaine this evening with Don Gilberto. Fern is pithed, cause for some reason, he claims that Discua is "his" and only "his". Jess is so not pleased.

Ricardo and Maricela arrive at La Fontaine in that old beater car. The valet actually parks the car. Ricardo thinks to himself how much he adores Maricela. The same Maitre d' is there and asks if they have a reservation, nopis, but does he happen to know who Maricela's Papa is? He's a big wig in the bidness world and she better be getting a table this said in English and on top of that she wants the best champagne!

TELEMUNDO Y MAS - week of April 22

Buona sera. Now that the drama of the manhunt  in Boston is over, we can guiltessly watch the drama of telenovelas. Some of you know that I have put Spanish things aside while I try and learn some Italian for a trip to Sicily this summer. (I confess that I am watching the rerun of Pasión de Gavilanes on Mun2 - I love that novela and they are showing it with English subtitles whether you can get cc3 on your TV or not.) I have been watching a little Italian TV including an italian novela and an incomprehensible game show.

Over to you.

Ciao!!

Weekend Discussion: ¡Musica Latina!

Most outsiders to our particular world probably don't know much about Latin music and I feel bad for them. They don't get that there are as many genres and subgenres as in anything else. Some get stupidly xenophobic over the language; I called out a friend on this one once because she's willing to listen to Italian opera on the radio when she doesn't speak Italian. She also listens to Celtic music whose lyrics are indecipherable and in a language she has no patience to learn. There was definite cultural bigotry going on.

When you watch novelas, Latin music is part of the package. Whether it's baladas, boleros, urbano, salsa, son, or Mexican Regional in its various flavors, you hear the sounds and – we hope – feel the rhythms.

Of course, we also sometimes hear flamenco and its offshoots, like Gypsy Rock (which is what The Gipsy Kings call their sound).

My love of Latin music starts with ranchera and its current stars and I love introducing people to it.  One friend eagerly took the plunge with me at Madison Square Garden a few years ago to hear Vicente Fernandez and his colorful opening act, Paquita la del Barrio.  When I translated the lyrics of "Rata de dos patas" to her she laughed along with all the women in the audience.

What Latin music does it for you? Who makes you dance, sing, cry, want a booty call? Digame, amigos.

Qué Bonito Amor #4 (Mex 5.2-6) Thursday 4/18/13 Que Bonito Tentación!

You know how in Spanish class they have you pick a "Spanish" name just to get in the mood?  And how when Pasion finally aired, we were all so giddy (ok, some of us were giddy) we picked pirate names?  Well, how about for this one, we all pick mariachi names!  (I'm going to pretend a great cheer of general agreement went up at that suggestion.)

Amores Verdaderos #112 Thu 4/18/13 Ana Martin’s Death Stare

* Lo refrito: in the funeral home Candelaria is crying over Cristina’s coffin. She remembers back to that lame typed letter “Aníbal” sent her and she thinks that Cristina didn’t deserve the rejection of her father.

* Lo nuevo: Liliana and Big Angel are grieving at the other side of the coffin. Lili can’t live without Cris, she’ll miss her much. Opalina arrives at the funeral home, just in time to say a few consoling words to Arriaga, who’s on the verge of a nervous breakdown. He says he won’t be able to stay there much longer, he can’t live without Cris, and it was him who killed her. Opalina assures him that he’s always been a strong man, and now he has to stay strong for her daughter. Cris’ll always live in his heart and she’ll guide him to find a way to overcome this loss.

PEAM #29-The Ice Princess is Melting, Please Speak into the Microphone and Its Not Funny!

Xochy is whispering to Jesus on the phone-

Discua loudly asks Ferny if he is going to the Public Ministry office,  shhhhh!!  She just wanted to know if he was going there and if he needed anything.  It’s a secret; no one should know that he is going. Pleeeeeeeeeeeeezzzzzzzzz. (Wink, wink)  He is just going to run out.  Jesus asks for Alma, but Xochy tells her that she went out a little while ago.

Pati meets Alma for lunch and lets her know that she just saw Jesus and she is worried about him.

Xochy lets Jesus know that Ferny is going to the Public Ministry.  Jesus calls Delia to find out why she was contacting Ferny. She still has doubts about the empty warehouse and is continuing her routine investigation.  It’s strange that after attacking him at his house the warehouse is completely empty.  Hmmm.

Pati tells Alma that Jesus misses Alma.  She lies and tells Alma that he clearly told her that he would love to return to Avon and work alongside Alma.  Alma finds it hard to believe because it was no picnic working with Ferny and he needed to earn more money for his daughter.  According to Pati, Ferny is a saint compared to Jesus’ new boss.  Alma doesn’t believe her.  Pati throws out a love comment, and then takes it back but it leaves Alma thinking.

Ferny meets his brother and the lawyer outside of the Public Ministry Office and the lawyer instructs him to only answer what he is asked.  Rogue tells Fern to call him and leave his phone on so that Rogue can hear everything that is said.  Ferny is worried that they know about the money.  The lawyer says that if they knew anything then he would have been arrested.

The secretaries ask Discua, if she had any idea as to why the Public Ministry Office wanted to talk to Ferny.

Alma and Pati return to Avon and Susana.  Alma wants to know why they are not working?  When do they work?? Susana tells Alma that Ferny had to go to the Public Ministry office. (Wink)

Discua answers the phone for Alma. It’s her daughter????? It’s a little girl, wink.

The lawyer accompanies Ferny to the Public Ministry office visit.  Ferny tries to sweet-talk the agent but its not working and she doesn’t want any part of the lawyer’s participation either. She wants to know what Ferny has to do with the warehouse.  The agent shuts Cantu down. She doesn’t want to hear from him. She will ask the questions!!! Cantu reminds her that Ferny came on his own.  F looks could kill, the agent continues.  She asks Ferny what Information does he have on the warehouse at 43 Independence Avenue.

A sad Valentina talks to Alma.  She is sad and is crying because Papa Elias is not returning home.  She had spoken to he Papa Jesus via computer. She misses him.  Why doesn’t he work at Avon??  He is at the new job because he has a better job.  Valentina likes Alma as a friend.  (Valentina is an old soul)
The Ice Princess is at Avon and meets Discua Paz de la Soledad.  She then meets Xochy and sizes her up mentally, while sanitizing her hands.  She checks up on Jesus, oh because of her daughter. You know that he has a daughter? Xochy tells her that he works for Orion.  Alma asks why the Ice Princess is here? She wants to talk to Xochy.  Xochy says that the Ice Princess wants to know about Jesus’ whereabouts. It’s a good thing that no one works as a CIA agent, because no information is scared here.
The lawyer wants proof, but the agent says that it’s only a conversation.
The agent says that Jesus was attacked by two men and that Jesus recognized one of the men.  The wonders if Ferny knows anything about this, he looks a little nervous.  It’s just the pressures of the job.  She knows that Jesus went to that warehouse to get a package from one of the men that attacked him and Ferny sent Jesus. Rogue is peeved that it is a known fact that Ferny sent Jesus to the warehouse for the package.  Ferny says that that the package was for his brother, Rogue (no honor among thieves).  The lawyer nudges Ferny. They were special Turkish cigars.  Rogue is livid.  Why was he surprised that his brother is such an idiot??  The lawyer is working on the agent’s nerves.  She is not falling for any of his foolishness and the story that the Brothers Dimm have ordered European cigars for years.  Are they buying the cigars as contraband??? She has been to the warehouse, which is located in a remote area.  The agent asks Ferny for his lighter, since he is a smoker, but he left it in his coat.  Ferny suffers from hoof in the mouth disease.

Pablo, I agree, I preferred the original opening too.  I guess that we are entering a new phase.  Fast forward.
The Ice Princess returns home, to a sweet loving Valentina.  She tells her mom how much she loves her and it is the same thing that Jesus used to tell the Ice Princess, when she was hot.

The two fools at Orion give the secretary a hard time regarding their lunch orders and Jesus sets them straight.  Heat up your cold lunch in the microwave.
The agent tells Ferny that if her has anything to hide, now is the time to speak.  The conversation is cut off from Rogue.  Cantu brings up the fact that Jesus is entered the country with the suitcase filled with money and the agent dismisses him.  She looked at him so coldly, I felt the chill.

The Brothers Dimm and their lawyer realize that the agent is no fool. It will be hard to prove anything about last night’s beating as long as Malvino doesn’t speak.  Rogue is certain that he and Ferny don’t have the same blood and they all start arguing.  Where’s the loyality??? These idiots know nothing about loyalty.

A melancholic Jesus arrives at Avon and introduces himself to Discua. (Wink!!)  Xochy acts like 12 years old and greets Jesus.
Everyone including Alma is watching.

Cantu lets the Brothers Dimm know that Jesus is the one who carried the suitcase for Uri Petrovsky.  Rogue’s face lights up.

The only way that Jesus didn’t serve time was to snitch on Uri.  Rogue starts putting two and two together.  He can point put Malvino.  Rogue blames Jesus for losing the money that was illegally entering the country.

The secretaries ask Jesus about his bruised lip.  He zips Xochy’s lips and chats with the ladies.

Alma thinks that Xochy is Jesus’ girlfriend.
Jesus stops to see Alma, he comments that his new job is going well and he is learning a lot.  Pati is watching the two of them as if she was at a tennis match.  Alma mentions that Valentina called and asked for him.  Jesus pays Alma back the money that she lent to him.  He appreciated her kindness.  Pati, for once is left speechless.

Valentina asks the Ice Princess if she is sad and misses Papa Elias.  Yes, she admits that she is.  Icy wishes that Valentina would have asked her before rather than her Papa Jesus. but she wasn’t around.

Jesus speaks to someone on the phone.  Xochy asks who is it?? Someone that I have a debt with??
Stooge-Bautista needs a salary advance he makes up a story about a family member to Cardenas.

Marsela announces that she is going to the expensive restaurant with the Stooge Bautista.  Xochy and Jesus wonder if he can afford that restaurant.  Why not something a little more modest.  No, not for the materialistic Marsela, that won’t do.

Jesus is going to see Valentina.  The stooge gets his advance.  The Brothers Dimm and their lawyer ask Cárdenas for Jesus’ record.  They see the criminal note and ask why was he hired.  He tells them that Alma insisted that he be hired.  The Brothers Dimm and the lawyer do not want anyone else to know that they have asked for the records.
If Jesus commits a crime he will have to go to jail.  The Brothers Dimm have a plan-uh boy.  They meet Jesus in the secretary area, they are so happy to see him. - Yeah right!  Xochy doesn’t understand what is going on. Hmmm and he paid Jesus’ hospital bill.  The two stooges watch the third stooge count money.  Jesus asks for the money that he is owed for the night that they stiffed him.  He had to work it off at the restaurant.  He doesn’t work there anymore and he needed the money for his daughter. He snatches up one stooge and they start making excuses.  Jesus wants and needs to teach them all a lesson, while a proud Xochy looks on. Xochy is becoming annoying and hanging around Jesus like an itchy wool collar.
The three stooges are scared, it was only a joke.  Really???  Put yourselves in my place, pay up!!  They rate Xochy an 8.5.  Alma asks for Jesus and Susana says that Xochy is in heaven right now.  Jesus pays the annoying cab driver, who is happy and changes his annoying tune. Jesus is a man of his word.  Xochy is still looking on.  Jesus needs a ride, the driver will oblige and she invited herself.

The Brothers Dimm blame everything on Jesus and Alma interrupts.  She asks about Ferny’s appointment at the Public Ministry office.  The Brothers lie about buying cigars and Rogue blames Ferny for buying contraband- cigars, x-rated movies, etc.  Rogue “scolds” his brother. Rogue has had a long day, he would invite her over but…. Alma smells a rat.
Ferny and Rogue starts calling each other nacos. Fast forward.

Marsela and Stooge Bautista firm up their plans and talk about his old car and Discua bids them a good night.  Gilberto, the stooge is making small talk with another secretary but he can’t take his eyes off of her backyard.  The Gilberto stooge meets Discua at the elevator and is ecstatic that she remembers his name and he would like to invite her to The Fontina while an ignored Jessica walks by.

Amores Verdaderos #110 Tue 4/16/13 Opalina Arrives; abandon all hope

Amores Verdaderos Cap 110 April 16, 2013—Opalina Arrives, abandon all hope

PUT A FORK IN IT, IT IS DONE! Screencaps and updates are now up! Most of this was written from memory with a few gaps filled in later.

EVENTS MAY NOT BE LISTED IN ORDER:

* Christina didn't die in the accident. We see a refry of her being hit by Espanto in the truck, then her in the ambulance.

* Lily, our Little Orchid, gets bad vibes which settle in her stomach. She even passes out. She feels so weird. Doesn't know why.

* Gilda/Hilda is talking with Paula. She's worried that both their gooses will be cooked if/when Anibal finds out what douchebaggery they've been up to (hiding Candelaria's letter, Chris's parentage, etc.) Paula is feeling guilty for everything and hopes to make it up to Chris. (Too late!)

Paula seems to sincerely be worried about Chris.

* Big Angel is back in his home town, feeling good and hopeful. He meets up with a friend, the local policeman/sheriff and tells him an abbreviated and tastefully edited (but still honest) account of what happened to him and his family. He, Chris and Lily got jobs, but his schedule only allowed him to see his family once a week, which put a strain on his marriage. He's looking forward to getting things back on track, will look for a job there and everything! He's in high spirits.

* Vicki is talking with Thomasina about Big Angel's departure. Vicki is determined that this is how it must be. We can't build our happiness on someone eles's pain, she vows. Adri comes in and Thomasina excuses herself. Adri wants to know what's up with the bodyguard suddenly leaving. Vicki just says he was a country boy who belongs in the country. Adri is concerned—does this mean that Lili will go too?  She's bummed to hear that the answer is probably yes.

No more access to Lili? Bummer!

Qué Bonito Amor #2 (Mex 2.2-3) Tuesday 4/16/13 The Great Escape Becomes the Road Trip of a Lifetime

Lo del pasado
Santos is calling Giuliano from a pay phone outside his hotel to let him know he’s alive and where he is, after all, the family lawyer is someone you can always trust.  Giuliano (El Oompa Looompa) happily takes down the address and later is seen talking to four henchmen and giving them the last best instructions on how they need to operate like real federales to get rid of Santos. Only that will make Godpadre happy. After hanging up, Santos passes by a sign where American ropa of finest quality is sold and decides to exchange his royal blue business shirt for something a little more americano—it looks like a leather jacket will be the thing.  He goes back to the hotel room and starts packing.

Lo del nuevo
El Auto Hotel – Santos hears the police come knock, knock, knockin’ at the door of his Auto Hotel room.  He had already packed his brand new backpack and checks out through the window.  The “fake” popo sent by Giuliano look around but can’t seem to find him.  They go back outside.  Lo and behold, Santos is on the roof and they don’t see him.  He drops down to the ground and *then* they see him and start taking pot shots at him.  It’s a one sided firefight in the dark.  Santos sneaks up and knocks over one popo and then the other and takes off.  They fire and miss but chase him down an alleyway. Santos doesn’t have time to think how they might have found him since he only told Giuliano where he was.

Truck Yard – A long-distance hauler is about ready to pull out when what to his wondering eyes should appear but a face at the passenger side window crying help, help.  He’s not sure what to do, or what he can do, but apparently the honest earnestness of the face on the other side of the window convinces him that it will be ok to let him into the cab.

Garza household in L.A. – Altagracia tells an unbelieving Justo that Santos is VIVO.  Justo doesn’t believe her, especially when she tells him she just talked to him by phone.  He must think she’s lost her diamond marbles.  Justo feels that to clear his name, Santos must return to L.A. Altagracia is not of the same mind. She’s sure that it’s a set up to blame him for someone else’s bad deed.  Altagracia is convinced he’s innocent and Justo is of a mind to believe her.

Character says title of the telenovela out loud/Bingo Square filled Back to the truck. TOBWR (The Only Big White Rig) on the road at night is stopped by some federales (conjecture).  The driver, by name of Rigoberto (aka Choforo, lately of LVO) is sweating bullets, but hands over the keys for them to examine the load.  They flash their lights around, but see nothing but cargo. Santos is scrunched down behind something that looks like a partition.  They hand the keys back and Rigoberto stops sweating bullets. It seems that the Virgen was protecting Santos because that partition was the back of a large framed picture of Her Holiness.

Rigoberto has lost his fear of the stranger with the strange story, after listening to the whole thing. Santos ends his story by telling Riggo that he’s been living a nightmare (viviendo una pesadilla). Santos doesn’t think Riggo believes him, but he does. Obvio, Riggo ruminates, someone close to you wants you dead.  It might be prudent not to stick around a border town—it’d be too easy to be spotted.  Meanwhile, Riggo has his own slight problem.  He has to go from Tijuana to D.F. by day after tomorrow and his partner got sick. It’s a very long drive. Santos is more than willing to accompany him (according to Google, it’s about 1750 miles) and share the driving.  Rigoberto is not sure this is all on the up and up, and does Santos even know how to drive one of these big rigs?  Santos laughs a confident laugh, but doesn’t answer yes *or* no.  [Aside: Whatevva.  Next we see him driving TOBWR, so I guess it was a yes.] While they are tooling along, Riggo tells him his life story and how he’s been married to the same woman for 40 years. His dream is to buy a little house for them.  He doesn’t see her often because of his job, but he’s still crazy about her.  If you could only see it, que bonito amor, he says.

The Mejia Magic Expressway gets them to D.F. in no time – They have plenty of time to chat, listen to good Mexican music, check the road signs as they pass Guadalajara and Morelia on Route 307 (just try to find that on Google) and finally see a sign they are close to D.F.  They reach D.F. and Viewerville gets a birds-eye short tour of Capital Highlights. Santos thinks this will be the end of the road.  Riggo planned to get a hotel room for the night but won’t leave him abandoned on the streets of a city he doesn’t know. Santos is sure he can get a room in a hotel.  Riggo is afraid Santos’ identity will be discovered when he tries to register and pay with wet greenbacks.

PEAM, Tuesday 4/16/13 (#27): Bombón Asesino (WINK!)

In no particular order...

Malvino has spent the night at Rogue's place. Last Rogue heard, Chucho had no idea who beat him up, so Rogue tells Malvino to go back to the warehouse. Rogue goes to work and Malvino loafs around the house for a while longer. He acts creepy around the maid, which makes her nervous (she calls Rogue to complain) and offends the dog.

Meanwhile, Chucho tells his probation officer about the beating, the assailant's familiar voice, the warehouse, and the Avon manager who sent him there to pick up the Turkish cigars. Like any irresponsible law enforcement professional, the probation lady actually takes him to the warehouse, which is still cleaned out so there is nothing to see. Silverio is there, though, and he calls Malvino to let him know that Jesus is watching.

Chucho is embarrassed that his tip didn't pan out and feels bad about implicating the Brothers Dimm because they were sooooo nice to him last night and even paid his hospital bill. The probation officer says she'll question the Brothers Dimm about their connection to the warehouse without implicating Chucho.

Amores Verdaderos #109 Mon 4/15/13 Some truths are better left unsaid.

Bus station: Angel gets out of bus and runs to the arms of Vicky. That embrace feels GOOOOOD!!, smiles exchanged and finally a KISS!!!

At B house kitchen, JM and Polita comment Angel’s resignation with He-man. Polita goes to open door to KenDrat. Lilli arrives at kitchen, He-man has to tell her that Angel left for good.

Back to the kiss at the bus station… Ay chispeados!! Perdoneme!! (boy those are weird words right after a goodbye kiss, aren’t they?). Vicky tries to convince Angel not to go, he feels awkward, prefers to go before what they feel for each other becomes something dirty and shameful. She keeps pleading to no avail. Angel also concerned to not cause any more trouble for her with her husband. What if he(Nil-Brains) shows that video to Niki? Vicky gets upset at the thought of that. Angel says ‘nuff said, I gota go’. Vicky keeps pleading, can’t live without you. Angel puts her on the spot. Would you leave your life, your daughter and everything else just for me? I also have my wife Cris and my solecito. We have no right to harm them. Vicky admits neither of their daughters should pay the price of their love. But can’t live without you. (anyone hear the Barry Manilow classic?) Angel reminds her that being with him would mean she gives up her daughter, her sister, her dad and her business. It would not be the life she is used to. He can’t lie either. His life is at the fields, his daughter and his wife Cris. Having come to the city and become her bodyguard was just a fantasy. Vicky refuses to believe what she feels is fantasy. It is reality.

Lilli at the house says she was previewing something was happening. What if it is because my parents reconciled? She will go to the house, maybe they are there. He-man just asks her to let him know if she finds out anything.

Niki asks KenDrat to repeat to her all the story about He-man. She is very confused, he swears he loves her and has no interest in fortunes. Niki tells KenDrat that He-man wants her to cancel her wedding with Roy. ‘Escudo protector, activate!’ (LOL!) KenDrat keeps feeding her lies about Dances hearing from He-man that marrying Niki was a surebet plan that had already worked with his previous wife. His previous wife had lots of money which He-man spent freely. (this is news to Niki about his ex-wife). KenDrat keeps twisting the lies into the holes in Niki’s swiss cheese brain. Niki insists He-man sounds so sincere when he tells her about her feelings. KenDrat says ‘stay strong, marry Roy Pavia’. (Niki walks away and KenDrat realizes Niki is really head over heels for He-man and that she will have to keep working to get Niki to stay away from He-man and marry Roy and move out).

PEAM #26 - 04/15/13 – Rescued Valentina and Showers of Love for Jesus Only Fuels the Envy

My heart goes out to all in Boston, what a terrible tragedy on a wonderful day for the city where I lived for 28 years.  I would often have the day off to go to that very area near the end of the race to cheer on the runners and chair racers.  I can’t imagine how people are coping with the death and injury of so many innocent victims.  Paz y amor para todos los victimas.

Refrito:   Valentina runs crying into the arms of her MomDragon, who for just that brief moment is crying and only needs a few seconds to start pummeling Valentina with questions but the brave little girl keeps telling her truth to her unhearing Mom.

Nuevas Noticias: Pati tortures Rogue with the news that she is an “intimate friend” of Jesus and of course is going off to the hospital to check on his injuries from the attack.  Rogue decides to head to the hospital to head off Pati against the for once good advice from Fernando.

Dear bloggers, as I have mentioned before many times, I need you to compose your posts in plain text format. Notepad, or directly into the blogger text window. Do not format.

Do not compose in WORD or any other program which adds formatting codes. Cutting and pasting from Word ends up looking like the example below. When you format in blogger, or use any program - like Word - which inserts formatting automatically - it sometimes makes the sidebar disappear in some browsers.

Amor Bravío HOY Post-Finale Special!!!!

Amor Bravío HOY Post-Finale Special

Remember when we used to have the Cristina telenovela post-finale specials to look forward to? We would get to see the telenovela stars we had just seen blunder, struggle, triumph, and punished over the last 5-9 months, all cleaned up in their real world duds, and hear their take on their characters, the story, and the behind the scenes. Cristina would at times push the envelope and ask questions that were WAY too personal (usually about the romantic lives of the leads), but for the most part, she kept her questions focused on the telenovela, which is exactly why we watched her show. In the last two years since the Cristina show ended, Don Francisco has tried his hand at the post-finale special, with little success.

I’m glad he didn’t attempt it with the Amor Bravío cast. But I (and I’m sure others) really wanted to see this great cast all together one last time, and hear their thoughts on the telenovela. The folks at Hoy did us this favor, and brought the AB cast and crew together for a Post-Finale Amor Bravío Special after the finale aired in Mexico in October. Other than a few missing people, who were already off on location filming their next telenovelas (e.g. Florencia de S./Natalia, Laura C./Ximena), most of the cast was present.

The interviews feel more like we’ve dropped in on a chat between friends, because the Hoy cast members are all actors, singers or entertainers who have worked with many of the AB actors in the past, or are even related to them or have close personal ties. I will do my best to give an overview of what was said. But rapid-fire informal speech is way different than scripted/slower speech in a telenovela. What is clear is that this cast enjoyed working with each other, and we the audience certainly enjoyed watching them.  A link to the entire 52 minute show is embedded above, but here’s the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FMgAVYmKpwk

Gran Final Hour 2 - Parte 1
Capítulo #167

Lo Del Pasado:

When we'd last left DanCam and their posse, Dionisio had just called Daniel to negotiate with him over getting his baby daughter in exchange for his night of passion with Camila and the relinquishing of the ownership of La Malquerida. Camila had decided to help save his baby daughter by giving into Dio’s demands, though Daniel had absolutely forbidden it. Juarez gave them a workable game plan then to avoid Camila’s acceding to Dio’s obscene desires and demands.

Lo Del Nuevo:

At the hospital the ER doctor comes out and announces to Dan that Miriam is a bit up tight but she’s been given something to calm her down. Dan immediate asks about the aneurysm. The long awaited QTH? moment arrives as Dan explains why he’s confused and ER Doc informs them both and--of course--the entire waiting room of concerned friends and family that Miriam doesn’t have any aneurysm whatsoever and never did! ER Doc says he just did another battery of brain tests and is certain of it, in fact.

At the same time, Omar comes in to report to Dio in his hide-out that Issa had a run in with Leoncio who not only burned her hands to nubbins with acid, but also cut her tongue out like she’d done to him. The two share a couple of evil yuk-yuks over her inability now to speak and to ever testify against him or anyone else again. (Cara de muy disturbed de Viewerville. The only thing missing on Omar was a tinier tail, another pitchfork, his own set of horns!)

In the women’s prison’s clinic, Issa receives medical attention and then is released into the general population where, we note, she is dressed now in chic-est of prison dowdy. (Can’t help but wonder if those burned stumps will keep her from doing work assignments.) Issa overhears two inmates discussing how she’d murdered a priest, her own kid, and tried killing her new hubby, plus had planned on selling his ranch out from under him. They laugh at her being harmless now after being maimed [manca=handless, armless, legless, one-armed/one-legged….], delenguanated, and raped. She turns away from them and tears roll down her cheeks. (Viewerville slugs down a double shot of reposado and cheers. ¡Salud! Leoncerdo came through for us after all.)

Back in the hospital waiting area, Dan ‘n Cam deduce that Dr. Valtierra’s false diagnoses had to be Dio’s doing. Mariano suggests a case of blackmail or bribing Dr. Valtierra to get him to lie. ER Doc tells them if they want to lodge a complaint against him, feel free. “—Heck, yeah we’re going to lodge a complaint!!” Amanda and Osvaldo show up asking about Mir and the baby just as Dio calls back on Dan’s cell. Dan follows Juarez’s advice to refuse Cam as part of the deal since Dio has to hand over the M.Q. to Estevez in twenty-four hours or else. He puts the call on speaker and everyone there hears his demands to exchange the kidnapped baby for Cam and the M.Q.. Dan forces Dio to back down and to agree to accept only La Malquerida in exchange for Baby Aggie cuz he will not allow Cam to be part of the deal, period. However, Cam must drive the money there by herself and not dare contact the police! Dan insists afterwards that he’s going along for the ride to protect Cam anyway.
