Papá a Toda Madre, Episode 48, 3/26/2018: Children Say the Darndest Things OR A Golden Egg for R&R

Fabián asks Mau if he is feeling well; so Mau responds that it must be because he is excited about starting a new phase in the factory…with him. Mau then asks Fabián if he remembers how long they have been friends, so Fabián laughs and responds “All our lives; ever since we were born!” Mau replies, “Exactly. In fact, until Anifer showed up, I considered you my only living family.” When Fabián wonders why Mau is so nostalgic and asking so many questions, Mau responds that he doesn’t know; he has just realized that he trusts Fabián with so many favors…sometimes he thinks he takes advantage of him…like asking him to take care of Maria’s burial.  (A tiny little tinker bell jingles in Fabián’s serpentine brain.) After Mau thanks him, Fabián assures him that there is no need to thank him…he has always done it with all his heart (as he concentrates really hard to not allow his tail to rattle).
At Veronica’s house, Toño is cleaning the table when Veronica arrives and asks if the kids have gone to bed. When Toño responds that it has been quite some time since they went to bed, Veronica comments that she hardly saw them in the morning; so she is going to go peek in on them. Toño tells her not to wake them because it took him quite some time to get them to sleep; furthermore, he wants her to sit down so they can talk about that infamous “break” she wants to take. Veronica points out that he was the first to mention taking a break…and right now she is exhausted and isn’t up to anything, but she does want to tell him that she will be leaving on a job-related trip during the week-end…and she wants HER kids to go with her. As Toño emphasizes that they haven’t even started the “break’ and she is already saying “HER kids,” (Clue A, Tono) Tania listens through the door as they continue to argue, then walks back to her bed as Veronica tells Toño that she does not want to continue arguing and walks away.

Weekend Discussion, 3/23/18: Por Amar Sin Ley or L.A. Law's Twin

Por Amar Sin Ley or L.A. Law's Twin

Back when we were playing Televisa Remake games (click the label “weekend” below for list) we didn't think of L.A. Law as a possibility. Obviously someone did because this series certainly feels like it. Most of the emsemble-cast characters have counterparts, there is a parade of clients some of whom are symbolic of social issues, and the relationships between the lawyers and their love interests will be the most active element of the series. Let's dive in:

Managing Partners

Alonso Vega and Leland MacKenzie are both mature men who are paternal figures. Both are law professors, virtually live at the firm, and take a personal interest in the lives of their staff.

Rodrigo walks into Neron’s shop and demands to know why Pablo hid the fact that he was in Mexico illegally. Either way, he warns them that Jorge is looking into the deportation process for illegals and he assumed it was because of him. Neron begs Rodrigo to reconsider, and not arrest Pablo, but Rodrigo makes it clear that he’s not there to arrest him because he’s a hard-working man, not a criminal. Papa a Toda Madre #42 3.15.18: Is Anyone Really Who They Say They Are?

Or Who's Playing Who?

Mauricio and Renee run over to pick up Anifer from Veronica but Anifer declares that she no longer loves him and it’s his fault her mother died. Renee tells her that Mauricio is not at fault but Anifer states that they are both liars and she doesn’t want to go home with them because they are lies. She prefers to go to Neron’s house and Neron and Flor agree but Mauricio reminds her that he just wanted to protect her and begs her to come back home. Renee agrees and begs Anifer as well, but Jorge suggests they drag her back home, but Veronica shakes her head. Tono agrees with Jorge but Neron can’t as he would leave these things to Carmelita and now Flor. Jorge suggests Mauricio give Anifer a good whipping, as discipline is necessary, but Veronica disagrees. Tono wonders why all the lies in the first place and Jorge reiterates that they punish Anifer for escaping. Flor shuts everyone up then and tells Anifer that she can stay with them, at least for today, since it’s been a rough day. Neron agrees and Anifer looks at Mauricio, quietly, extremely disappointed in his actions.

In her suite, Kika tells Charytin about the fact that her revenge is finally complete, but she feels that she paid too high a price because she would feel guilty if something happens to Anifer. Charytin suggests she move on and come back to Miami but Kika must find out if Anifer is safe.

Toño is in Mauricio’s office telling him that they have at least one month to get the money together. Mauricio is sick of the beating and trolling he is taking on the social networks from Kika’s fans who idolize her. Toño tells him to just let it go because it will be long forgotten in 48 hours but Mauricio can’t believe that. The image of Logatoys could be affected and his image, too. Toño suggests that they let it go for today at least and have some peace. Toño has to go home to get a few things done before the kids come home. Mauricio says he has to go get Anifer. Fabián walks in as Toño leaves. Fabián immediately wants to know what Mauricio’s neighbor is doing there.

Well, the doctor informs him that it could cause him some problems: urinary tract infections, bladder or kidney damage. The doctor tells him that after the age of forty all men should have their prostate checked each year. Nerón explains that he has always felt well and he knows all about those prostrate exams . . . The doctor wants to stay on top of the situation. He wants Nerón to notice if he has problems urinating, if he has to urinate a lot at night, or if he sees any small drops of blood in his urine. Nerón asks the doctor if he is about to die. The doctor says no but he does need to check him out in a couple of days. Nerón asks if it is that kind of checkup. The doctor says yes, it is that kind of checkup. Nerón is bothered and depressed at the thought . . .
