Imperio de Mentiras #7, 9/29/20: Guess Who's Coming to Dinner or Should Auld Acquaintance Be Forgot?

Dario shows a misbehaving Elisa what's behind Door #1 and Door #2 if she continues to disobey him.  The first video scares Elisa out of her wits as she sees a mockup of Maria Jose on the video crying hysterically with a gun to her head complete with the gun going off.  Dario describes in wretched detail how the whole family will blame her and how it will be her fault if, in addition to losing Papi, she must bear Majo's death on her conscience.  Elisa becomes hysterical until Dario Demento shows her the second video of her sister and threatens again to kill kid sister if Elisa goes off the reservation again.  (Torture and abuse in my book!)  "--No more little games!"   Elisa agrees to be obedient and do what he asks provided once those darned art pieces are found and returned, her sister is returned to her in one piece, and he never darkens their door again.  (What?  Elisa must really be trippin' to think she's got that kind of leverage with Scario de Dario (thanks to patio peep, Susanlynn for the perfect moniker).

Dario wants the truth about any supposed boyfriend of hers since her family has never heard about him.  Elisa names him on the fly as Leonardo Marquez and says the family is simply not in the know.  He's from Nueva Yorrrrk and was tied up with something when her daddy died.  He reminds her that her life belongs to him now and he'll be watching every little thing she does.  Otherwise, he'll make sure Majo is tortured mercilessly before he finally kills her.

Imperio de Mentiras Lunes 9/28/20, Chapter 6: Lies and Lives at Risk

I'm back in Mexico City where money can't buy honesty. This is such a high-level case I'm going to have a good time with it. There is a lot to dig up. Should be a best-seller someday. – Dashiell Hammet

Leo found Elisa in the airport lobby, head down as though she were crying. She wasn't, but was clearly distressed.

What happened?” he asked.

My sister was kidnapped. They threatened me they would kill her if I went to the police, if I told my family, if I didn't do what they demanded. They said they would return her to me once I did and they did not. Help me. Help me, please. I implore you.”

He embraced her as he looked around. “Try to calm down.”

They won't return her to me until I give them the things they said my father stole.”

Do you know where they are?”

No, no. I have no idea. They're capable of killing her.”

We will save her,” he said. “I will help you.”

No, Leo. No, no, no, I don't know how.”

You don't know what I can do. I will investigate –”

No. you can't. We can't risk her life –” She tried to leave, but he stopped her.

Don't forget that this is related to the murder of my fiancée. I can help you. My car is outside; let's get out of here.”

He took her suitcase and they left, looking around warily.

TELEMUNDO Y MÁS (#1): Todo Por Mi Hija, Falsa Identidad 2, y más: Week of September 28, 2020

Welcome to Page #1 (Monday edition) of the Telemundo y Más page, issued twice a week: Mondays and Thursdays at 8:00 PM.

Here are the current evening telenovelas (all times are Eastern Daylight Time):

• 9-10PM—Todo Por Mi Hija**
• 10-11PM—Falsa Identidad 2**

**Telemundo's website and Zap2It disagree about what to expect this Tuesday, Sept. 29, when the first debate between Biden and Trump will take place. Telemundo's calendar shows that neither Todo por mi hija nor Falsa Identidad 2 will be shown that night. Instead, Telemundo will air something called Decision 2020. Zap2It, however, claims that Falsa Identidad 2 will run for two hours (9-11), and Todo por mi hija will not be shown. Both sources claim that things return to normal the next day. If I learn anything further, I'll post it here. UPDATE: At the end of Monday's broadcast of Falsa Identidad 2 on the West Coast, it was announced that the next episode of the telenovela would appear on Wednesday.

Everyone is welcome to join in the conversation.  Since discussions of all the Telemundo novelas share the same page, please remember to put the name of the telenovela you're referring to at the top of your post, so readers can easily find the conversations they're looking for.

By common agreement, this group DOES NOT discuss previews, trailers, or any other plot information not found in a current or past episode of the current production. Spoilers WILL be removed by the admin. This includes reference to earlier productions of the story, and even the original novel. Thanks for your cooperation!

It's that time again! With fall fashion coming into full bloom it's time for us to look at the fashion felonies and misdemeanors of our favorite people. This is our special Medical Community edition. Imperio de Mentiras #5, 9/25/20: Flight Or Fight

Elisa turns around to find Leonardo right behind her about to look for his seat.  She steps into the aisle in front of him.  "--What are you doing here?  Are you following me?"  He's not letting this thing/or her go until she gives a statement or decides to trust him.  "--That's not going to happen."  He must move along.  (Everyone's in line behind him and, man, those carry-ons and duty-free bags of goodies tend to get heavy, don't ya know.)  He moves along to the back and sits down.  She continues to peek back there at him and consider whether to move.

Imperio de mentiras #3 Wednesday 09/23/20 The bad guys mulptiply, the good guys seem lost

Previously on…

Majo, the youngest Cantu sister has been kidnapped in broad daylight, on a busy highway.

Renata, the oldest sister, has an undisclosed mental illness, which makes it impossible for her to have the baby she obsessively desires.

Elisa, the middle sister, is being confronted by the ruggedly halfway handsome special detective Leonardo – he suspects things and demands some answers.

Some scenes are combined, others are condensed, these people talk too much, and it’s hard to keep up.

Elisa and Leonardo get to know one another

Elisa is weeping.

Leonardo would like to help, if only she could trust him. She needs to tell him everything, she can’t do it all on her own.

Elisa is unsure, it’s too early in the game to open up to him; her phone rings, so she takes advantage of the distraction to try to evade Leo’s questions. He believes that Augusto was involved in the stolen artifacts debacle (expect for me to repeat this phrase A LOT – new drinking game?) and Julia was an innocent victim.

This makes Elisa react strongly, what if Julia was involved? After all, she thought she knew her father, too, and look how well that turned out. Why were they together in the middle of nowhere, if not because they were secret lovers (is there any other kind?). Elisa’s phone rings again. Leo insists that he only wants to help, but Elisa is sure that he can’t. And off she goes.

Imperio de Mentiras: 9/22/20 - The Clock Is Ticking Or Betrayed By The Family Frenemy

·         Tall, dark, and halfway-handsome Leonardo is definitely overwhelmed by the steamy liplock Elisa has just laid on him. (But then again, could be he's just relieved he didn't eat the onion and garlic bagels during his coffee break this morning.)  We gotta figure that Leo seems to be bright enough a copper (pun totally unintended) to note the worried look on this blond bombshell's face, not to mention, the telephone conversation he must have overheard.  "--Is somebody watching us? Does this have to do with your father's death? Look, I only want to help you." She answers that he has helped enough; please don't ask her anything more, and then fakes a lover's good-bye blow kiss.  He remains there, staring after her (either getting more in touch with himself or perhaps just drawn by something more than simply altruistic motives (Julia who??).

Imperio de Mentiras Lunes 9/21/20, Gran Estreno The Prime Suspect

Not my best literary work, but this tale moves too fast for that. Just remember that with this producer you are not guaranteed predictability or a happy ending. – Urban Anthropologist

Monterrey, Mexico:
Undercover police detective Leonardo Velasco kept in touch with his tech team while on his way to meet a suspect in the carnival area. A thug came up from behind, holding a gun to his back and telling him to keep walking. He was hoping to get away from any possibility of being watched or ambushed. A bald man watched them from behind, pretending to eat popcorn.

Finally Leonardo stopped, turned around, and asked to see “the merchandise.” The an said not without showing the money. Leonardo tried to delay this, the bald man ran up to them to warn his accomplice the police were in the area. The accomplice shot Leonardo, grabbed his bag, and ran. It did not look as though anyone noticed.
