Corazon Que Miente, Week 2 (6/11/18) Monday Kickoff: Lucia Makes a Grand Exit

Episode #6 - Monday, June 11
Back at the crime scene, Rogelio has been watching the verbal exchange between Lucía and Demián and the awful aftermath. He runs toward the couple, picks up the gun with his handkerchief and pulls a screaming Dem off of and away from a mortally wounded Luci. Leonardo arrives 1 ½ minutes too late and Luci dies in his arms without telling him who did this to her, although he kept asking her. She had plenty of time to keep asking him to forgive her, though. He begs a passerby for help, but the next thing he knows he’s looking down the barrel of a police-held gun, to be questioned at the station.

Rafaela tries to get Sara to admit she knows of Luci’s whereabouts. Sara and the rest of the family are still looking for Alonso, who turns up at Fr. Daniel’s church sanctuary. Fr. Dan sees him and gives him his usual speech about parents being without stain, hugging Al and silently beseeching His Heavenly Boss to forgive him this little black lie. Al wants to stay with Dan, but is told he’s old enough to confront his demons himself.

Rogelio drives an out-of-control Dem back to the house. He must bring Dem out of  this sinkhole he’s thrown himself into, realizing he shot his wife to death. Rog “convinces” him that Dem didn’t shoot his wife and Rog saw nothing. He has him wipe his bloody hands on a cloth and sends him into the house. He’s to tell anyone who asks that he has a headache and that Rog took him to a meeting. After he’s gone, Rog chuckles to himself as he handles the bloody cloth—he has something on Dem now that will surely come in handy in the future.

Por Amar Sin Ley, 6/8/18 Chapter 70: Whining and Wining

OFICINA CARLOS

Elena turns nasty on Carlos real quick when she hears he's dropping her case. She taunts him about being afraid of The Big Bad Vega, but he doesn't take the bait. He explains that his friend Aaron will be the face of the case, but he'll still be pulling the strings from backstage. She allows herself to be mollified.

CASA PAULA

Alejandra returns home to the usual menopausal slumber party, replete with wine, cards, and full makeup. Her recap of the Case of the Two Bimbos turns into a PSA on making sure you don't die without a will. Lourdes promises to stop by the office so Ale can get her set up. Ale mentions that they'll even get Alonso to review the will afterward, so maybe she's trying to set her up in more ways than one.

CASA ISA

Gustavo phones up his ex for more catering porn. "Howzabout I bring over something hot for the three of us, bebe?" "Oh no, I'll cook something up for you [tee-hee]!" Isabel is actually wearing real clothes instead of looking like a toddler who's been allowed free range of her closet because it's her birthday. In a typical telenovela, this would probably signify a Change of Heart Makeover, but in this one it's hard to tell. And frankly, who cares?

Papa a Toda Madre, Capítulo 102 (Part 1) Univision #99 Friday, June 8, 2018; One resignation, one missed hit, and one big setup

Last night, we left off with Fabian asking Anifer, “So, do you like your new bedroom?” But Ani says, “I want to go with my dad.” Fabian tells her, “In this house we are going to live like the family we are—with your mother and your father—that means me.” Ani says, “So are you two together again?” Maria say, “No, we are not together and that is not going to happen.” Ani then asks, “And what about Mauricio? Is he going to live with us too? Because this huge house is big enough for them to live here too!” Fabian says, “Well, maybe Renée could come here because she is your auntie. But as for Mauricio, let’s just say he will be living a life far from us. I don’t think you will ever see him again.” Ani says, “And why not? He is my daddy!” Maria tries to interrupt and say, “What Fabian is saying is something else…” But Fabian interrupts and says, “Hey there is something you are not understanding. If you are going to mention me in front of Ani, you better call me by what I am…her father, not ‘Fabian’. Is that clear?  And you, Anifer, you need to know what Mauricio did was very bad. And if you never see him again, it’s because the law says so, not me! The law. And while we are at it, you need to forget about your life with Mauricio and start your life with me—your father! Get that into your head now! That is just the way things are.” Maria just stares at Fabian with disgust.

Por Amar Sin Ley, 6/7/18 Chapter 67/68/69: Manipulation Is the Name of Their Game

While  Juan is trying to put more points back onto the board with Fer at a swank restaurant post morning serenade, Elena is letting her new toy-boy score a few with her while her kids are left to fend for themselves.

Exlena and Toy Boy are partying heartily at The Club. However, Toy Boy isn’t quite high enough apparently.  The next possible Mr. Right offers her something probably very wrong in the way of illegal substance which she has enough sense left at this point in the evening to refuse.  However, she is taken by the moment and swept away by a need for romance--and Toy Boy’s deep tongue probes.  (Blechhhh!)

Corazon Que Miente, Week 1 (6/4/18) Thursday Update: Fire and Brimstone

Episode #4 (Jun 7)
We return to Don Manuel's humble home in the country, surrounded by his lands. He's waiting for Mariela to return. Instead, he's knocked out by an unseen hand--to which Rogelio is attached. To add to the maliciousness of knocking out Don Manuel, Rogelio laughs as he spreads enough gasoline to send Don Manuel to the devil, in flames. Mariela arrives just as the flames reach the roof. She's beside herself with fear and grief. She knows her grandfather is still in the house. She heard him call out. She's yelling for help. Here comes Leonardo the Lionbearted [newly minted name by Susanlynn] to the rescue. He brings out Don Manuel's body, no longer among the living. This sainted doctor is knocking on St. Peter's gates, not Lucifer's. (You can tell by the choral music in the background.) Distraught, Mariela falls over her grandfather's body while Leo covers her with his arms. The house is nothing but a pile of charcoal briquettes. Over Mariela's objections, the EMTs remove Don Manuel's body. Leo takes her to Fr. Daniel's for the night while he attends to the arrangements for the funeral. Daniel tries to console Mariela, but she just wants to be with her grandfather.

Por Amar Sin Ley, 6/6/18 Chapter 66/67 Miercoles: Family Affairs

Note:  Due to technical issues you have missed information pertinent to this tale.  We are working on the problem.  #67 events are listed in the comments.

Chapter 66: Family Affairs
I'm Christopher Mason. While many of us have been taught by our cultures that family is a sacred refuge, we learn that it can equally be a living hell. Identity theft is most common between relatives, incest is the crime nobody talks about, and – perhaps worst – most murders happen within families. Inheritance conflicts are likely to be the most common occurences of all. So while religious and social propaganda tell us about sanctuary, it is conflict that often dominates Family Affairs.
  • Alejandra and Ricardo discussed ending their relationship for the sake of his children. She said that they had to think of each other only as colleagues and he said they needed to keep their distance from each other otherwise. He said that being that close to her would provide too much temptation for him.

Papá a toda madre Wednesday 6/6/18 Capítulo 100: Lambs on Parade to the Slaughter--OR--Jorge's Worst and Finest Hours

The action continues in the cul-de-sac:

Rodrigo goes out to greet the uniformed police officers who have arrived in the cul-de-sac while the drug dealer hides behind a fence and shrubbery between the houses.

Dulce rushes out of her house, much to the fear of Baldo, pushing him aside. She tells Rodrigo and the other policemen in the street that she has a thief living in her house and has proof. She caught Baldo stealing money from her purse.

Flor, who has been standing to the side with Rafael and Renée, overhears what is going on and sticks up for Baldo telling Dulce not to be such a pain. Dulce calls her a busybody. The drug dealer continues to watch. Rodrigo tries to quiet the situation down. One of the policemen informs Dulce that they are there to deal with a much more serious problem than a domestic complaint. Vero and Esperanza are drawn to the group to see what is going on. Everyone wonders what is going on.

Por Amar Sin Ley, 6/5/18 Chapter 65: Are You In Or Out?

The next morning Alejandra is on the phone with Carlos.  She comments at how upsetting and unfortunate the former attorney's murder was.  Carlos plays along and suggests it must have been somebody getting even with her or  gangsters' justice (ajustar cuentas - a murder by mobsters in a gang war).  He eventually manages to dissuade her from assisting with the case.

Papa A Toda Madre #99: The Curious (And "Magical") Case of Fabian Carvajal

Or Daddy and Mommy Vs Daddy

The judge informs everyone present that Anifer must not leave the city during the custody hearing and he authorizes that Fabian be able to see Anifer once a day during the proceedings. Everyone nods, and Jorge goes to tell the judge something as Mauricio and Maria wait outside, stressing out about the whole ordeal. Jorge arrives a few seconds later and reveals some good and bad news. The good: Mauricio can be present during Anifer’s visits with Fabian. The bad: Anifer will be stripped of the Lopez-Garza last name. Mauricio shakes his head, dejected.

Pablo shows Lili their recently painted room and she smiles because it looks a lot bigger, with more light. Lili assumes their accommodations will be temporary as she receives a text message from Baldo. Pablo thinks they should have told Jorge that they were moving in today, but Lili reminds him that they are close, and they needed their space. Pablo nods and smiles, touching her stomach, and wishing that their family grows soon. Lili then asks to go to the bathroom but is horrified to find out that the bathroom is outside their room and it’s shared. Pablo shrugs, unsure of what to say.

Por Amar Sin Ley, 6/4/18 Chapter 64 Lunes: Lies

Chapter 64: Lies
I'm Christopher Mason. Life is full of lies. Ones we tell ourselves and ones we tell others. Most of them are comparatively harmless, but many have consequences. Some are even deadly. Today we will see people who – for various motives – tell all kinds of lies.
  • Alejandra had lunch with Carlos and told him that she had had a relationship with Ricardo. She told him that the relationship ended because of Elena after she and the children saw them together at Ricardo's apartment. He then told her that he was Elena's lawyer and had filed for the restraining order that was keeping Ricardo away from Elena's children.

Papá a Toda Madre, Episode 98, 6/4/2018: I CAN Live If Living Is Without You OR Georgie Boy Plays Hardball!!

Alt. Title: The Fight for a Child Begins
At Night—
Jorge helps drunk-as-a-skunk Baldo to his bed as Lili brings a cup of coffee. Jorge comments, “Esto es el colmo!” (not a literal translation: ‘this is the last straw’ or ‘this is the limit’). When Lili tells Jorge that he went too far in going to the club for Baldo because he’ll lose face with his friends, Jorge doesn’t care…Baldo is his son and who knows how Baldo would have ended up that night; it was a dark place that destroys people…even Kika and her sister were there…and he argued with Kika. Just then, Baldo slurs that Jorge was an ass to have left that woman, but Jorge tells him they will talk the next day and leaves. Once alone, Baldo takes a tiny baggie out of his pocket and stares at it. (Correction Baldo: a DUMB ASS.)

Corazón Que Miente, Week 1 (6/4/18) Monday Kickoff: Gran Estreno

At last, it seems Televisa and Univision have come together to give Carayers a traditional telenovela with characters with very recognizable traits. From the beginning, there is no doubt as to who the protagonistas are and the antagonistas they are up against.

This is Puebla, where the landscape is verdant,  the town vistas are inviting, the palette is bright and cheerful, houses are grand, but there are dark shadows in this two-dimensional world, including at least three separate staircases of doom. By way of  introduction to Corazón Que Miente, it should be noted that there is: The Unhappy Rich and Powerful Family; The Servants of the Rich and Powerful Family; The Not so Rich and Not At All Powerful but Happy Family; The Family Who Owes the Rich and Powerful Family Favors and Envies Their Wealth and Power; The Guy Who Has a Chip on His Shoulder; and Low and Behold, a Modern Day Plainclothes Priest. The Yin-Yang is embodied in sibling rivalries, family rivalries, lost and found loves, an infinite desire to enlarge personal wealth and an infinite desire to heal the sick and downtrodden. At the start, almost everything is in balance.

Into this mix one man returns to the town of his birth, having become a successful sculptor elsewhere. He harbors deep feelings for someone which are unresolved. He will be the instrument to upset the balance. His godmother is waiting to pick him up at the airport. They find each other. She chides him for having been away for so many years and then they depart for the palatial house he left her.

Papa a Toda Madre, Capítulo 97 (Univision 94), Friday June 1, 2018; Kika Tries to Come to the Rescue, but is thwarted later

We open with Jorge on the phone with Samuel and Sammy whining about why he isn’t there on vacation with them. [Well Sammy, if your evil mother hadn’t hidden your siblings’ passports and identification documents, all of you would be there. But your dad did the right thing in staying behind. Stop whining.] Jorge asks him to give the phone to his mother because “these are adult things” we have to discuss and it’s “not your concern.” When he talks to Dulce, all she does is go on and on and nag about how he should be with them “the four of them, united as a family.” [This is crap Dulce! You didn’t care about that when you left Jorge for your criminal drug selling, human sex trafficking boyfriend!] This goes on for a minute or two when Jorge gets tired of her nag fest and hangs up on her. After hanging up, Jorge smiles at his twins and says, “Well, that’s that. I’m staying.”

Por Amar Sin Ley, 6/1/18 Chapter 63: Love in a Time of Cholera Morbus*

Greetings law and order enthusiasts (you know who you are)—your court reporter is back after a well deserved break from the shenanigans (both professional and personal) at the Vega and Ibarra bufetes. There are the absent police investigators, prosecutors, real evidence and long drawn-out trials. But we do have a dastardly new deadly bloody crime (for which I have a crackerpot theory). It seems that our Old Guard is pretty much up to their Old Tricks and the New Folks are interjected for our viewing distraction. But that’s not why I’m here. I’ll leave the whining and the griping to those over-age, well-schooled whiners and gripers. I'm here to report on last night's events. P.S. I noticed Elena drinking too much, too. Is that a bad sign or a good sign?

*Cholera Morbus = A gastrointestinal disturbance characterized by griping……[Courtesy of Webster’s Ninth New Collegiate Dictionary. There’s more, but it’s irrelevant for my purposes.]

What does Love have to do with IT?
Carlos loves money. He says he loves Ale, for whatever reason benefits him most.
Fer isn't in love with Mi Johnnie anymore even though she promised not to be one of those jealous girlfriends.
Oli is on the edge of falling in love with a man who presents himself as a decent, though deadly dull, caballero.
Alan is already in love and ready to settle down, hopefully with Oli. Or is it a smoke screen hiding an evil (or hapless) alter ego?
Leo is "professionally" jealous of Alan's attentions for reasons his colleagues find credible but counsel him not to share them with Oli.
Victoria is in denial she's already in love with Roberto but won't take the next step with Vega's resident Lothario. Flirting is sufficient to keep him within range.
Roberto loves Victoria and is chomping at the bit to make love to her.
Leti and Benji are still in lust. (Ooops they just got caught again by Carmencita.)
Ale and Ric the Bric-a-Brac must pretend they're not in love for the children's sake.
Elena loves to hurt Ric and her children.
Elena loves her tequila.
Ric hates Carlos (and Elena).

New Telenovela: Corazón Que Miente, Starts Monday June 4, 11 AM (EDT)

Attention Diego Olivera fans. He's back. For those of us who have been waiting for him to get another plum role, after his success in Mujeres de Negro, this one is worth a try.

Por desgracia, Corazón que Miente is coming to DAYTIME Univision (otherwise known as the vast Wasteland to where second tier telenovelas are banished when they don't fit into the nighttime schedule). Tune in at 11 am or set your DVR.

Synopsis: Mariela Salvatierra is orphaned at the age of 12, after losing her grandfather, Manuel, a death she believes was caused by Demian Ferrer. Mariel leaves the city with Leonardo del Río. Leonardo believes Demian is also the murderer of Lucía, Demian's wife (and the love of Leonardo's life). Fifteen years later, the two return to avenge the deaths of their loved ones while facing great obstacles. Ferrer is a powerful, unprincipled and perfidious man who not only takes pleasure in others' downfalls, but also does not care about the well being of his own family. Mariela falls in love with Demian's eldest son, Alonso, with whom she was friends as a child. Mariela and Alonso must overcome all the challenges that impede their relationship in order to live their story of love. [Adapted from Wikipedia]

Por Amar Sin Ley, 5/31/18 Chapter 62: The Rules of the Game

⦁     Carlos works his wizard of smart on the magistrate and gets Crazy Dude --who's obviously been without his nose candy a bit too long--out of jail.  It was a bad beating and the restaurant owner claimed it was because he wouldn't pay protection money to the cartel.  The magistrate wants to keep him and open a file on this.  Carlos says no can do.  It isn't legal and besides you won't find anything conclusive in the 48 hrs. he can keep him there for (I think was the argument.)

And, while this is going on, Sonia notices it's Carlos who's the crook's mouthpiece and this is a totally odd type of case for him to have messed with.  Once Carlos has Crazy Dude released, he tells Mr. Clean that El Ciego is never to "invite" himself unannounced either to his home or his office like that again.  He can call him.  Mr. Clean tells him that El Ciego is a bit old fashioned and will be put out when he hears this. El Ciego only makes visits in person.  "--Are you threatening me?"  "--No.  Just telling you the rules of the game."  "--Yeah?  Well, it's to tamp down any suspicions."
