ALL MUST READ! Bloggers and visitors alike! Read or be banned!

Hello my dear friends, it has come to my attention that an unacceptable number of comments lately have been:
  1. Unpleasant
  2. Unsupportive of our bloggers
  3. Containing spoilers

It's bad enough I'm having to delete twenty comments every day from the spell-casters who want to bring your spouses back. I don't have the time to police this site for inappropriate remarks.

Have you noticed that there are no ads on this site? Nobody is making a cent including me. Every blogger is doing it for love. If you don't support them then you should not be here.

Have you noticed this is a NO-SPOILER zone? This is a rule with no wriggle room. It's not my rule, I don't care about spoilers (I read the end of a book after I read the first chapter). It is the READERS who have begged again and again that NOBODY SHOULD REMARK ON THINGS THAT HAVE NOT YET HAPPENED ON THE U.S. RUN OF A SHOW.

Oh, have you watched ahead somewhere? Do you think you are cooler if you go "nyah, nyah, I know what's going to happen to Horacio!"? No. You are not cooler. You are a jerk. Let people watch the shows as they unfold. If you have to gossip about what hasn't happened yet, go to another site.

We do not have racial or political or socioeconomic slurs on this blog. If you persist in this behavior you will be banned.

Have I been clear?

Support your bloggers. Thank them, do not scold or denigrate them.

Nothing nasty will be permitted.

No spoilers are permitted.

If you violate any of these simple rules your comment will be deleted without warning or explanation and if you do it repeatedly you will be banned. There, have I been clear now?

Love,
Your Blog Mom

New Telenovela: Yo No Creo En Los Hombres/ I Have No Faith In Men

"Yo No Creo En Los Hombres/ I Have No Faith In Men" replaces Que Te Perdone Dios on July 13th and that's in the 10PM Eastern time slot.  [FYI: it won 7 premios for acting and directing at the 2015 awards.  So, although it is another in a long and seemingly endless list of refritos Univision chooses to serve up, this could be another diamond in the rough.  Could be...... as a telenovela taken from a Caridad Bravo Adams novel (one of Martai and my favorites!) whose screenplay is written by Aída Guajardo (nominated for best screen adaptation). Some familiar and strong actors are in this one:  Flavio Medina,  Rosa María Bianchi, Azela Robinson, Alejandro Comacho for a few.  Gabriel Soto and Adriana Louvier (Best Actress 2015 Premios) are the two leads in this one.]
~~~~~~
Maria Dolores is a beautiful young woman of small means and greatly idealistic. She is also a contender and has the strength to get ahead when faced with adversity.  She is a seamstress who exists within a sphere in which men surround her. (We, fortunately, can expect at least one or two will be a rotten lowlife.)   With her job, Maria Dolores supports her mother, Esperanza, herself, and her sister, Clara.  Maria Dolores’s boyfriend is Daniel.  His life, however, is not a bed of roses.  Daniel turns out to be rich, but is passing himself off as a poor man in order not to feel ashamed in light of his social class and above all, his mother, Ursula, who’s the matriarch of the Santibáñez family and prejudiced against the poor.  (Grrrrrrr!)  Ursula’s children, Daniel and Maleny, were trained to inveigle and maneuver rich people, the first being designer Ivana Duval, heiress and owner of a large (and no doubt successful) company; the second is Max Bustamonte, an attorney, who follows the law to the letter.  (Gotta love those straight arrows, frustratingly  dense as they usually are.)
Afternoon Novela-La Vecina: Is there any interest in a weekly post?
Thank you for letting me post this, Jane!
Next Monday (June 22) at 3PM/2C Univision will begin airing La Vecina, the latest telenovela from Lucero Suárez (De que te quiero te quiero, Amorcito Corazón and Querida Enemiga.)
It is a remake of the 2003 Colombian telenovela "La costeña y el cachaco." 170 episodes are planned.
It's being billed as a fusion of comedy and melodrama. It stars Juan Diego Covarrubias as Antonio Andrade and Esmeralda Pimentel as Sara Granados. The cast also includes Javier Jattin, Natalia Guerrero, Carlos Bracho, Arutro Carmona, Alejandro Ibarra , Luis Gatica and Alfredo Gatica (Last seen as "Abdul" in DQTQTQ.)
There's a  host recognizable faces from other Lucero Suarez productions- Maria Alicia Delgado, Eduardo Shacklett and Bibelot Mansur  to name a few. Most importantly, Jose Luis Badalt aka "Hotscar" will have a small role.
Would anyone be interested in a weekly, low-pressure, discussion and highlights only (no recaps) post? If so, please leave a quick comment. I can add a more detailed synopsis and character/cast list to this post later in the week if it looks like a go.
Sinopsis
After losing her hotel job and breaking up with her boyfriend, Sara decides to take a few days and head for the coastal town of San Gaspar.
At the same time Antonio is being sent by his company CONATROL to San Gaspar to investigate the excessive robbery of gasoline from the area.
Destiny will unite Sara and Antonio, first as neighbors and later when she arrives to work at CONATROL. They connect during a weekend on an unexpected trip. There's a great attraction between the two, despite their very different personalities.
Below is a video of the "entrada oficial" for anyone who, like me, judges a TN by its theme song.
About SPAM and DISAPPEARING COMMENTS and SORRY, SUSANLYNN!
Dear friends,
You may or may not know that our blog is attacked daily by frenzied legions of spammers. These days most of them are witch doctors, but in the old days they were peddling limousine services and air conditioners. I have turned on comment moderation after a week, and am now deleting most of the spam by hand...
... but I just discovered that blogger has, in its own attempt to ease my burden, been classifying zillions of spam comments - but also plenty of legitimate ones - as spam...
... for instance, I just found a folder on the site called SPAM and in it were about 1,500 comments dating back a couple of years and a lot of them were from (sob) Susanlynn who is one of our longest-contributing and devoted fans...
... so, if you find that your legitimate comments are not appearing (ie you are not a witch doctor or an air conditioning salesman) write to me at caray@mappamundi.com and let me know.
New Telenovela: Lo imperdonable starts May 18, 2015
After complaints that some of our plot summaries were full of spoilers, here is a brief one for the upcoming Lo imperdonable. If you want to recap, write me at caray@mappamundi.com - blog mom.
Martín (Iván Sánchez) hurries to Mina Escondida after getting an urgent letter from his brother begging to be rescued from the hell in which he's living. On arrival, Martin despairs upon finding out that Demetrio (Pablo Montero), his brother, has committed suicide. His sorrow is transformed into hatred and a thirst for vengeance against the woman who caused his brother suffering and brought him to death.
Full of resentment, Martín swears before the tomb of his brother that he will get revenge against this ruthless woman, he will cause her to fall in love and he will drag her to the green hell of this jungle in which he will despise her as she despised his brother.
The first clue to the culprit's identity is a medallion his brother always kept with him, engraved with the name "V. Prado Castelo." Martin returns to the capital, knowing that Prado Castelo is the biggest jewelry business in the country. He aims to grow close to the family. He makes the acquaintance of Emiliano (Sergio Sendel), only heir to the fortune, newly arrived in México after years of absence.
Martín meets Verónica (Ana Brenda) and Virginia (Grettell Valdez), Emiliano's cousins who were adopted by the elder Prado Castelo. Martín is struck by Veronica's beauty and her force of character. He is not, however, her only admirer: Emiliano has returned with the intention of marrying her, having loved her since childhood - not realizing the one who is obsessed with him is Virginia.
Little by little Martin falls in love with Verónica but believes the lies Virginia tells about her, including that she had caused Demetrio to fall in love and had then abandoned him….
Upcoming Telenovelas: On the horizon Via Stevey
This was posted as an update to last year's post but I thought it deserved its own spot in the sun. It will be very useful to me, your blog mom, who is not keeping up very well (sorry).
Hi everyone!!
With 'Amores con trampa' having just started, 'Hasta el fin del mundo' soon to be coming to its conclusion, and 'Que te perdone dios' and 'La sombra del pasado' chugging right along, I thought some of you might be interested in how the next few months are going to be progressing telenovela-wise, down Mexico way, anyways....
- Sunday, April 19th will be the final episode of 'Hasta el fin del mundo'
- Monday, April 20th will be the 'Gran Estreno' of 'Lo imperdonable', in the HEFDM time-slot (this is a Salvador Mejia production starring Ana Brenda Contreras, Ivan Sanchez, Grettel Valdez, and Sergio Sendel)
- Monday, May 11th will be the final episode of 'La sombra del pasado'
- Then, for 2 weeks, 'Que te perdone dios' will air back-to-back episodes both in it's original timeslot, AND in the one previously held by LSDP (which is one hour earlier)
- After this, on Monday, May 25th we will have the 'Gran Estreno' of 'La Vecina' (Lucero Suarez produced novela starring Esmerelda Pimentel and Juan Diego Covarrubias) in the earlier timeslot, and QTPD will go back to just one hour at its original time.
- Mid-June sometime, we will have the Gran Finale of 'Muchacha italiana viene y casarse'
- Following 'Muchacha italiana viene y casarse' will be 'Amor de barrio (a Roberto Hernandez production (he did 'Heridas de amor') novela starring Renata Notni, Mane de la Parra, Alejandra Garcia, Jessica Coch as the villain and Manuel Landeta)
And finally, a couple of other things to note...
- Following the end of 'Que te perdone dios' will be the remake of the classic 'Amor en silencio' (which I'm hearing will feature Alejandra Barros and- interestingly- the return of Leticia Calderon in some role...)
- And, last but not least, fpr those of you who prefer your comedies- around the end of August, when 'Amores con trampa' reaches it's conclusion we are going to have the latest, original Rosy Ocampo novela, 'Antes muerte que Lichita' starring Eduardo Santamaria, Chantal Andere, Ingrid Martz, and Sylvia Pasquel.
Also, to give you a better grasp as to the progression of novelas down this way as opposed to up there...
'Hasta el fin del mundo' is at Capitulo 180
'La sombra del pasado' is at Capitulo 106
'Que te perdone dios' is at Capitulo 36
'Amores con trampa' is at Capitulo 25
'Muchacha italiana vieni y casarse' is at Capitulo 121
This should be able to give everybody a good idea as to how many capitulos each novela has left before their ultimate conclusion.
I hope this is of use and/or interest to you all! :-)
Calling all bloggers (and readers): we are under spam attack
Hello friends,
Owing to a sudden onslaught of spam comments, I've changed the settings on comments so that after seven or ten days comments will NOT be automatically published, but will be submitted for moderation. I believe (but I'm not sure) that each individual blogger will start seeing a lot of comments to be moderated. It's now your responsibility to kill the spam ones and let the others go through. I would do it, but I only get the comments put on my own posts. If you have questions let me know.
And readers, I suggest you get your comments up promptly (unless you are a spam generating robot) because later they may not be appearing in a timely manner!
I don't know why blogger is suddenly letting us down like this. Or whether the spammers suddenly noticed we are getting about 12,000 visits a day (we're up to around 14 million total now!) and figure it's worth it to attack us.
New Telenovela: Que Te Perdone Dios, Starts January 19th
If you have seen the mysterious ads then you know that a new telenovela, Que Te Perdone Dios, is starting January 19th on Univision in the 10pm slot replacing La Malquerida. It's produced by Angelli Nesma Medina (Lo Que La Vida Me Robo) and stars Rebecca Jones, Sergio Goyri, Zuria Vega and Mark Tacher. This joint Televisa-Univision telenovela will premier in the United States first, and then in Mexico in February. Because of this, there aren’t many images or info available. You might ask, what happened to all those other tns that started in Mexico in 2014 that we have heard so much buzz about? When are we going to get to see Yo No Creo En Los Hombres, La Sombra del Pasado, or El Color de la Pasión? Who knows!  If you are interested in recapping Que Te Perdone Dios, please contact Blog Mom Jane/Melinama at: caray@mappamundi.com
Here is the history of the telenovela: It was first written by Caridad Bravo Adams as the film Pecado Mortal (1955), starring Gloria Marín, young Silvia Pinal, and Víctor Junco; adapted as the telenovela Pecado Mortal (1960), starring Amparo Rivelles, Elsa Cardenas, and Tito Junco; and remade as the telenovela Abrázame Muy Fuerte (2000), starring Victoria Ruffo, Aracely Arámbula, and Cesar Evora (and Fernando Colugna as the young hero).  As Univision hasn’t released a synopsis for Que Te Perdone Dios, here is the synopsis for Abrázame Muy Fuerte.
PASION DE AMOR is a new telenovela produced by Roberto Gómez Fernández in a brand new story by Cuauthémoc Blanco for Televisa. It was confirmed that Esmeralda Pimentel landed the lead role in the highly anticipated drama and will be paired up with Erick Elias. AMORES CON TRAMPA, for Univision, featuring Eduardo Yañez and Itati Cantoral. It is a comedy, based on the Chilean telenovela from last year called Somos los Carmonas. C'mon folks, we need some more news of new telenovelas coming up.
Is anyone watching JANE THE VIRGIN (Mondays at 9 on The CW) and would like to start commenting? It's in English, set in Miami where legal and illegal money meets americanized Latin culture. There's intrigue, romance, multi-cultural characters and lots of fun.
Weekend Discussion: Producers Novelographies - Updated March 9, 2015
These lists are not purported to be exhaustive, to name every single producer and every single telenovela ever made.  For the purposes of this list, most of the producers made telenovelas for Televisa, or were shown on prime-time on Univision and recapped on CarayCaray. The titles in Bold feature the current prime time line-up or coming soon. Since then, several have been added broadcasting on Telemundo and TV Azteca.
There is an arbitrary cut-off at 1999, with a couple of exceptions.  It has been interesting to note the number of times an Executive Producer, working under a Producer, goes on to Produce his or her own.  I haven’t included this information, or the list would become endless.  The only exception was Salvador Mejia Alejandre, because it was hard to distinguish whether he was Producer, Executive Producer, or Co-Producer. Disclaimer: This information comes exclusively from Wikipedia or IMDB and the cable companies. They have been pulled together into one document.
Producers with telenovelas currently broadcasting.
Just before he is to marry Florencia, Lucrecia, an old "friend," reels him into a loveless marriage with the news she is expecting his child. Later on, Lucrecia finds out Mauro still loves Florencia, even though Florencia has married Mauro's best friend, David, who is also the administrator of Mauro's family coffee plantation. David and Florencia have one child, Amaya. Mauro and Lucrecia have two sons, César, the eldest, Maximiliano and twins Lucio and Flavia. In the present, Max and Amaya fall in love, but evil, secrets, ambitions and pain surround them to keep them from realizing their love.
By popular request: a new section for news about upcoming novelas
Hello friends,
If you look in the sidebar you'll find a new category, "Las Proximas." This section is for news about shows which are coming (or probably coming, or maybe coming) to Univision and Telemundo. This has been requested so I've added it.
NO SPOILERS still holds - initial plot outline ok, news about personajes etc, but no spoilers. I am going to depend on JOAN to police this, since she spearheaded the movement.
Thanks all,
Jane
New Novelas to watch for Fea fans and others
Maricela, one of our faithful readers, writes to tell us that she has stumbled on a rerun of an old novela with Angelica Vale in the cast: It's called "Mi Tele: Amigas y Rivales." It is showing on Telefutura at 7AM eastern time. Also in the cast Ludwika Paleta and our own Rene Strickler (currently on Amar).
I don't get Telefutura, although I get a zillion Spanish stations on my cable package. Darn!
Another new show is just starting on Univision. According to Maricela, Jaime Camil will be appearing. This new show is "Una Familia de 10," (sounds like Party of Five times two). It's a comedy and is showing on Friday nights at 10:30 pm eastern time.
Jaime (etc) news from Tania
Tania sent me the following. I don't understand all of it but perhaps somebody will elaborate...
I have hope that even if for now Lety is with Aldo "el papa del cursi" (jajaj) it will all be good because real love will triumph when it's over in three weeks. By the way if you havent noticed I am fernandista.
Tell the rest of the fans that Jaime as Fernie will give a chat on esmas.com tomorrow at 7pm mexico city time.
Televisa is remaking Cafe con aroma de mujer and is calling it Destilando amor (in place of Mundo de fieras).
They will replace La Fea with Pedro el escamoso and are calling it Juan Querendon.
