El Dragon #79, 1/15/20: Venganza is mine, sayeth Miguel Garza

On Demand scuttled me again--and thus you.
Thanks to Ithabill for the title! Here are some highlights from Niece in MD posted with much appreciation!
bare bones bullets from what I remember of last night:

- There's a time jump (one month, I think). Miguel is healthy and living with Adela in a small room.

- Miguel is directing Peligros, Flaco, Ishiro, and Trejo in carrying out elaborate revenge plans (including stealing money) from each one who betrayed him. (Of all the plans, I hate the one against the Serbian chick. They have her own dogs attack her (although in dialogue by Peligro they do let Viewerville know that the dogs will not be harmed). Just horrible. This is something a villain would do).

- IMHO, the classy revenge plans are the ones against the Italian guy, involving the actress we saw earlier and Flaco as casino dealer and Trejo in grayed hair. Wish I knew the details, but it was cool to watch.

- Hector and his wife are happy with their lovemaking. Evidently, the problem had been more in his head than elsewhere.

- Edna kicks out her husband. He wheels his little suitcase out of their home.

And the filler from Cynthia:

Tacho was the dead one. ePig didn't seem to be too bothered by it in his conversation with Piero. He pretty much said it was the nature of the beast in this business, that you sometimes don't live to a ripe old age.

I am going to assume that this underground bunker that Miguel and company are operating out of is at the Garza mansion?

I liked the auction with Trejo as the auctioneer and having Tadamichi as part of it. I assume now that Tadamichi and Miguel have made up as he seems to be on Miguel's side now.

My favorite part was when Kwong opened up his ancient document (now anyone with any knowledge of ancient documents KNOWS darn well you can't handle them with your hands as all ancient documents need special care!) and then Miguel came on the TV set to watch him get his due. It was an interesting way to die, glad it didn't involve blood.

It was funny seeing Vanesa the actress from Miami in on this as "Dolores Figueroa, heir to the Figueroa Construction Empire." But she didn't seem to know that Karina was one who betrayed Miguel, so that's why she was eliminated. Of course Vanesa seems to think that Karina killed herself.

Adela is still in contact with Carmen? Why? Glad she told her that she was in Italy and later to Greece.

El Dragón #78, 1/14/20: The Aftermath

We begin a repeat scene of Chisca and Miguel getting shot. Chisca’s last words to Ishiro were about how many children she wants. He relives all their good moments, but Chisca dies in his arms. Ishiro is overcome with grief.

Peligros comes downstairs, sees Chisca then Miguel. He is followed by Adela who is also overcome by seeing Chisca dead. She turns around and sees Miguel lying on the floor, motionless. Jorge is on the phone getting an ambulance. He sees his dead sister and cries. Adela cradles Miguel in her arms trying to get him to wake up. Jorge starts mumbling and it comes out that he was the one who put ePig up to this horrific tragedy. Jorge says something like, “He promised he was only going to get Miguel and no one else!” Ishiro hears this and tries to harm Jorge, but Peligros makes him let go.

Miguel is wheeled into surgery and Adela right beside him before she has to let go so the doctor can take him into the operating room.

El Dragón #77, 1/13/20: The Face of Cowardly Betrayal

Jorge came face to face with Tacho, who dragged him inside before the Sow. Both treated him like he was a pipsqueak, especially when he demanded to see the Pig. When Tacho called the Pig to tell him Jorge insisted on seeing him, he was told to bring him to his other sty using their usual security measures. He was to leave the Sow behind.

El Dragon #76, 1/10/20: Everyone is Shook!

Good Evening my Patio Peeps, glad to be here tonight with you all. Or this morning, since this episode it taking an eternity to get through. Lots to see here, so read on.

Ending last night Kenia, finally met her end. It was long in coming, and at one point I thought she might even get away with it. That some way, Jorge would save her in front of Miguel. But alas that was not to be. Gary finds his star witness dead on the floor. At least it wasn’t a bloody death. We really didn’t need another one of those.

Tonight starts with Gary leaving the scene in shock. Was Edna right, he fell in love with her? Because he looks shook. Finally, he calls in the downed officer and the death.

  • Apparently, Kenia raced back into her security building forcing Ishiro to pick the lock while she races back through her apartment; Ishi knows the apartment number and kicks in the door, going room by room and noting finally the open window and fire escape leading up to the rooftop.  Kenia leads him on a merry chase from there, finally losing him hiding behind a piece of trashed plywood in a construction site filled with mean looking construction workers, picks and shovels in hand and ready to defend her against a male interloper.  Ishi backs off, uncertain where she's gotten to.

TELEMUNDO Y MÁS (#2): La Doña 1, El Señor de los Cielos 7, y más: Week of January 6, 2020

TELEMUNDO WEEKEND EDITION (continuación)

•   9-10PM—La Doña 1 (abridged)**
• 10-11PM—El Señor de los Cielos 7

**Telemundo will be concluding the abridged version of its popular telenovela La Doña at the end of this week. Season 2 of La Doña will begin next Monday, January 13, at 9 pm. From the little that I've read and am able to report without spoilers, the plot will begin two years after the events of season 1. Saúl and Mónica (La Doña's daughter) are married. He is working as a lawyer for the Fundación Renacer and she is a law student. Together with Mónica's aunt Regina, they are working to end violence against women.  Their efforts are opposed by los Arcoiris, a gang that is known to torture and murder women. For several reasons, Altagracia Sandoval (aka La Doña), who has been living outside Mexico, decides to return. Needless to say, THE PLOT THICKENS. I should add that many of the actors in season 1 have returned for season 2, along with a number of new ones, among them David Zepeda, Carlos Ponce, and Marisela González.

My job schedule left me with no time but to list a very few highlights.  Anyone wanting to add today feel free and I can add to main part. - ed.

  • Flaco suspects Kenia and secretly goes into his safe computer and sees Kenia took the photo of his favorite car and plates and used it to hack the computer.  He follows her out the next chance he gets; she says she's going to the bank.  He follows her there, chats amiably and then once she leaves he plays like he wants a box of his own but it's way to small.  He notes Gary the Government Agent walk in and go to open an empty P.O.Box and find nothing.  Yup.  It's Kenia who's been spying on everyone, keeping the government goons hot on their heels.  He reports his find to Miguel.

El Dragón #73, 1/7/20: Miguel Carrying the Weight of the World on his Shoulders

Kenia continues to try to log into that laptop computer. Each time it says, “Access Denied.” She’s frustrated. She takes her own laptop and heads outside the office doors.

Meanwhile, the news keeps reporting about Efilina deaths and on the death of the Governor of Baja California.  As Miguel and Adela watch the news together. Adela asks, “Do we know for sure it is the Efilina?” Miguel just shakes his head as he watches in disbelief. He gets on the phone and calls Flaco. He asks Flaco to get all the details on all the people who have died taking the Efilina. As Miguel continues to wince and be affected by all that is going on, Adela asks him if he is okay. He shakes his head and tells her he really needs to be alone. It’s not personal nor does it have anything to do with her. He walks out.

El Dragon #71, 1/3/20: Moving Forward...Maybe

Adela enters Carmen’s house and Carmen immediately locks the door. Adela is obviously a little worried when she asks her why she locked the door. Carmen gives her an excuse type answer. And the audience goes “uh oh.” Then, to add insult to injury, Carmen offers Adela coffee that she herself does not want to drink which Adela also looks at suspiciously, and again…the audience goes “uh oh.” The women talk and the camera pans to Tacho peering around the corner…and the audience goes “uh oh” wondering what fate is in store for our poor Adela.

In between what happened in the scene between Carmen and Adela, back at Naga company headquarters, the group is trying to regroup and figure out how to proceed. Jimena calls in sick since she is being held hostage by the sadistic man that is Hans.

El Dragon #70, 1/3/20: It's All Hitting the Fan!!

Good evening my friends and hope that you are not already exhausted with the number of shows from the week. It’s been a long one. And hopefully didn’t do what I did, catch up on the whole week today. Hey…I was busy. But it is getting good. We are in the tail end here and everything has to hit the fan before the end. So here we go.

We left off last night with exactly what Peligros was trying to avoid. Adela’s photo in the hands of Epigmenio. Carmen is in shock when she hears that she is Miguel’s girlfriend. And just as Peligros warned, she is the wife of a mafioso and Carmens response to Epig was that he needed to kill her because no one makes a fool of his wife. Epig needs to know everything that Mrs. Piggy told Adela.

El Dragón #68-69, 1/2/20: Los Sayonaras or Your Days Are Numbered

This must be quick as my work schedule now has me getting home in the middle of the first epi of the duo.--Edit.
Cap. #68
  • Adela listens again to the 20+ year old recording.  "My father would never agree to transport.  I would have to kill him.  I've ordered sent a bomb."  Too disagreeable to burst everybody's bubble over that hot potato.  She lies to Peligros that she's not found a single clue.  He believes her, natch.
  • Jimena and Miguel discuss a magazine interview with a popular, intelligent and very dangerous reporter.  Mig accepts that challenge.  True to character, Viewerville observes he wants to get to the meat of Mig's secret life.  This guy--not yet 40-- could be the next leader of Mexico!
  • Chis has a tatoo done on her neck of Ishido's name in Japonese.

Numero 66: Propositions and Proposals
  • On Garza Island Miguel and Adela discuss the sense of buying an entire island for themselves.  (Why, cuz if ya got it ya gotta spend it!  Ya can't take it with ya!)  He says they need a private escape for themselves.  Talk turns to his slowing down some day in the near future once Efilina takes over the culture and people stop dying from using illegal substances to escape the bad situations they face daily.  Then he (on his unicorn) and others (on their flying pigs) can retire from having to kill people over the same illicit trade.  (Viewerville reminds those of us who view things through reality glasses rather than the rose colored ones, that there will always be people who enjoy doing bad things and pursue making this trade illegal because they're born bad, namely the Epigmenios of the world.)  Ade marvels at the way Mig always has things so well thought out.  Well, says she, as long as the two of them end up happy together......

Coming Soon to a Screen Near You...in 2020

Greetings, Caraymates!

As the 2019 telenovela year comes to an end, we can’t but reflect on all the wonderful (and some not-so-wonderful) productions that Telelvisa, Univision, Telemundo and other production companies have brought us. Among them we were introduced to transmigration of souls in Amar a Muerte (which swept away all the awards in the TVyNovelas Award Show except for one); we saw a young girl robbed of her family and her fame in La Reina Soy Yo; we had just about every PSA under the sun thrown at us in Mi Marido Tiene (Mas) Familia; and we were given more of a glimpse into the narco/crime world than we (at least I for sure) would hope for in TNs such as  La Piloto 2, La Reina del Sur and Por Amar Sin Ley 2. We even were witnesses to the birth of the Dream Factory/Fábrica de Sueños which brought us some well-renowned telenovelas which were adapted and transformed into 25-episode series. All in all, it was a good year! So what’s in store for 2020, you may ask? Well, grab a seat in the patio and let me tell you what I know (or have found). Before I start, I do want to put in some disclaimers—

The information you are about to read was gathered from a variety of sources including, “Univision,” “People en Español,”, “La Opinion,” “Wikipedia,” “Forbes,” and “Las Estrellas.” The articles/webpages read are dated from as far back as May, 2019; so changes may have been made by the powers that be in the production companies (and I am not privy to the changes). I have no information about release dates (except for maybe one of the productions) and you will note that there isn’t much info on some of the TNs, but this page will be updated periodically throughout the 2020 year. If you have current or more accurate information to share, please do so; it will be greatly appreciated and used to update the page.

El Dragon #63, 12/27/19: The Great Escape

This episode starts out by showing us what Tacho was doing with all of the money that Dora had given him. It turns out that he has bought at least half the prison, according to Chuey, who is none to happy to not be on the payroll. It looks like the entire thing happens on the day of their plan, but is told through flashbacks showing how the entire thing was planned and executed.

Tacho is living a pretty comfortable life handing out money for his creature comforts. Where he is storing the majority of the money, I have no idea. Then one day he meets a guy. His name is Inge and he was being picked on in the common area and Tacho came to the rescue. Inge is in prison for robbery, but he used to work on the plumbing and sewers of the city. Tacho is interested in this and confirms he was familiar with this particular zone, where the prison is located. When Inge gives the affirmative, Tacho tells him that he is his new best friend. Mom sneaks in what looks like maybe more money… never was really sure what she hid in the soap, and a map of the plumbing of the entire area in what is supposed to be a leg of something.

El Dragon #62, 12/27/19: Don't Cry Over Spilt...Oil?

This episode focused mostly on the oil spill, there wasn’t much else to it, so it should make this recap easier than usual, which is great since I have two episodes to cover.

The engineer and the secretary Sayanes, who wants to run for president are arguing over who caused the oil spill, after the secretary strong armed the engineer into increasing the production, not caring about the costs.

El Dragón #61, 12/26/19: If Chestnuts Grew In Miami

  • Miguel arrives at the office and wants Adela to leave earlier than usual.  Fearing the worst if Peligros tattletales on her, she must confess her plot to learn from Carmen, aka Mrs. Piggy, what role Epigmenio really had in Mig's parents' deaths.  He agrees with Peligros that it's foolish and dangerous as well as unnecessary.  They need to discuss it further at home.
  • Leopoldo Santamarina, is telling what he knows about Mig's enterprises--at least the umbrella structure stemming from Ecogreen and the latest acquisition of "Pídenos".  He'll get protection, sure, if the information is worth anything, advises Howard.  He mentions a number of businesses Howard has put on his wall map.  Leo tells him he's the legitimate face of Ecogreen and he's being forced to sign something he doesn't want to.  Howard is slobbering all over himself.  Come on in says Mr. Spider to the Leo the Fly.

El Dragón #60, 12/25/19: Oh, Happy Day!

  • Adela is muy impactada to realize that Lobo is there chatting it up with Mrs. Piggy, aka Carmen Moncado.  She is even more drop jaw impactado to see the two enter into a lusting lip lock.  She scampers out the door and down to the car where Peligros is waiting with his gun in hand and his heart in his throat.  They race home where the argument over "playing spies" continues.  Peligros says this has got to end!  Ade says no way since  Carmen's about to confide in her.  Peligros doubts it considering the way she hightailed it outta there without so much as a thankee ma'am.  Ade insists she'll think of something to explain it but she's not done.  Peligros threatens to tell all to Miguel if she does.  They separate once Rosario shows up wanting the low down on the beat down.
  • Meanwhile, Miggy informs Ishiro that he's to stay in Mexico.  This should delight him but Mig notes he's less than excited.  (How Mig can tell considering Ishi has one expression: sourgrump.)  He asks him if there's a problem but of course Ishi denies anything but loyalty to the death.

El Dragón #59, 12/23/19: Follow the Money

Ishiro went into Chisca's room, but pulled back from getting into the horizontal mambo with her. Predictably, she was frustrated and irritated as he left her hotel room, telling her he would see her at home. A little later Chisca went into the elevator to leave. Ishiro was just far enough behind her not to be seen, but he took the stairs down.

TELEMUNDO Y MÁS (#1): La Doña (special edition), El Señor de los Cielos 7, y más: Week of December 23, 2019

Welcome to Page #1 (Monday edition) of the Telemundo y Más page, issued twice a week: Mondays and Thursdays at 8:00 PM.

Here are the current evening telenovelas (all times are Eastern Standard Time):

• 9-10PM—La Doña***
• 10-11PM—El Señor de los Cielos 7***

***OK amig@s, I have to confess: I don't know what Telemundo will be offering (or not offering) this week. The network abruptly yanked El Sultán out from under us last Friday but then indicated on their website's calendar that it would appear this Wednesday at 3 AM (no, that's not a misprint, at least not my misprint). According to the calendar, it will also appear this Thursday and Friday at 3:30 AM, and Saturday (!) at 3 AM. However, Zap2It, which usually (but not always) has reliable information, lists none of that. Nor does the Guide on my Comcast-powered TV. So your guess is as good as mine.

And speaking of guesses, what's up with the second season of La Doña? Telemundo announced that it would run a "special edition" this Monday, Dec. 23, at 9 PM. But its website now says that La Doña will run at 9 PM all week, except for Tuesday, when all telenovelas are being pre-empted by movies. Has Telemundo advanced the schedule, or are they offering an abridged version of season 1 for those who never saw or can't remember season 1?  [UPDATE: Yes, it's an abridged version of season 1 that will apparently run for at least two weeks. La Doña2 is still set to begin on January 13.]  As for Decisiones, it's not a telenovela, and since CarayCaray is devoted to telenovelas, Decisiones will  not be listed here.

El Dragon #58, 12/20/19: Epigmenio, so much Epigmenio!!

I guess we haven’t seen too much of Epig this week, so they packed it all in tonight. Tonight we open with the Epigmenio restrained by Ishiro because Lobo is armed, was it with a bomb at the end of last nights episode? Epig starts immediately arguing that it was just as a precaution. Lobo adds that they didn’t have any intention of using it. Miguel reiterates that they had all agreed that no one to be armed except the security of the island. Epigs argument was that just a few days ago someone tried to kill him. Jaramillo jumps in with the fact that someone is always looking to kill them. Miguel tells him that it doesn’t justify his actions. Epig claims it does because it could have been one of them. Pierro (Italian Guy) says that if things continue like this, everything will be a disaster, and the Serbian says that the rules have to be the same for everyone. Miguel tells everyone that they are there to resolve something much more important. Sergei (Russian) asks when they are going to stop wasting their time with security checks, and Miguel answers, right now. Before they go back to the meeting Miguel confers with Ishiro about the infiltrator. Ishiro tells him it is under control. Miguel and Adela exchange a nod, not sure what they were referring too.

El Dragón #57, 12/19/10: Stuck On A Rock Which Is Still A Hell Of A Hard Place To Locate

Parte 1~~

  • Miguel greets the Italian Mafioso Dude who was in on the original negotiations with Valentin.  Mig tells him that Italy was key and has been keeping up their end.  He's pleased but adds that it's a shame the man who introduced them couldn't be there to share the success, but that's what happens to traitors.  Italian Mafioso Dude suddenly feels like the proverbial long tailed cat caught in a room full o' rockin' chairs.  He clarifies Val made his own decisions.  Mig pats him on the back of the head.  "--Don't worry.  I don't consider you a traitor; I never trusted you to begin with." He turns his back to Italian Mafioso Dude.  "--Time to set sites on a new horizon and bring about new ways of accomplishing our goals."  IMD starts to add to the conversation but Ishiro tells him it's time to go.  Head Samurai has dismissed you, dude.

El Dragon #55, 12/17/19: The Great Escape and a Business Expansion

We open with the getaway from the prison being apparently stopped. But Peligros and Ishiro open the doors of the van and Braulio must be hidden or underneath, because he isn’t anywhere visible. Satisfied, the guards let them leave through the gates. The prison warden and a couple others want to know why they let the van leave. So they send out an APB for the van. Meanwhile, they are ditching the van and Adela has met them with another car. However, there is a helicopter above them, so she diverts to an underground garage. Peligros wants to know what is going on and she tells him, “trust me” and “have some patience.” They pull up next to a blue sports car (a corvette?) and she pulls out of the underground garage. They make it to their destination where Braulio’s family waits for him in an SUV.

They explain to Braulio that they work for Miguel Garza. Ishiro also explains what happened to Hector and that Hector is in the hospital. Ishiro also gives Braulio a wristband device that can locate him anyplace. They will get in touch with him when they need him to testify. Braulio leaves with his family. Then Peligros, Ishiro, and Adela get into a silver truck and leave.
