Qué Bonito Amor #114 (Mex 152) Friday 9/20/13 Fernando Gets Hitched, Amalia Gets Ditched, and JAntos Is Again Bewitched
Capítulo
152
While Fernando’s wedding
prep gets going, Maria has a face off at the restaurant she’s working at sin papeles [undocumented illegal] with Giuliano at gunpoint. And, as La Diva del Desierto so astutely put
it: “Maria mouths off to OG and ends up with a gun to her back.
And no one in the restaurant gives a crap.” Least
of all, Maria!! Old Gold (de Giuliano)
shouldn’t expect her to be intimidated so easily, says she eying him with a
steely stare realizes this broad ain’t backin’ down for nobody no how. “Stay out of my way! I’m going to prove Jorge Alfredo’s innocent! You don’t know me. You don’t know what I’m capable of!” OG modifies the cat-herding approach for the
dazzle and wow ‘em with your provocative macho wit technique (and he earned a law
degree?) declaring with a malignant macho swagger how enjoyable dueling with a
snippy-yippy broad is for him. He leaves
it at “you’ve been warned.” She snaps
back as he pockets his pistol and heads for the nearest exit: “—We’ve been warned!”
Meanwhile, back in El Lay, Don Nando tells Santos
he refuses to contact his long-forgotten son in order to make amends. He’s better off remaining dead to his son
than trying to explain what he cannot remember.
Santos informs Don Nando then that he could ask to have his case
reopened because he was never legally sentenced. He suggests petitioning the court to have him
either sentenced or set free. Why, asks
the old man, if he has nothing and nobody to go back to? Santos insists he has a country, and a life
to return to with an obligation to his son. Take care of the obligation and return to the
life and family and friends he left, advises Santos.
Back in the barrio, Aaron barges in to Paloma’s
place again. She complains about his
lack of manners: what’s his problem that he always just walks on in “like he
owns the place” [como pedro por su casa]?
He says sorry, but they’ve got to finish or redo the assignment they
were working on together, he lies. That
convinces her and while she’s got her back to the door and he’s sweet talking
her into coming back to his place to do the assignment, Rodrigo bounds up the
stairs and to the stop with a crinkle-wrapped bouquet of flowers goes totally unnoticed
by Paloma. Aaron, though, sees him out
of the corner of his eye and lays on a heavy dose of dove-coo doo-doo which
Rodri falls for. Rod sneaks off and from
a distances observes the newsome-twosome leave, then smashes his bouquet outside
her doorway and cries tears of adolescent angst. FF>>
Back at Rodri’s apartment, El Coloso and Don
Rod are arguing over Col’s attempt at making cinnamon flavored coffee. Suffice it to say a barista he isn’t. Talk turns to Rodri and how he’s head over
heels for Paloma [cacheteando las banqueta’s] and needs to get things patched
up. Rodri comes in yelling and
screaming, ready to kick the cat if they had one. More heartache and jealousy because of the “newsome
twosome”. The two adults try calming him
down and remind him that he may have lost the battle but the fight ain’t over
till it’s over. FF>>
Don’t know what Aaron and Pal are listening
to but they are on a bench in the plaza sharing Aaron’s earphones and listening
together to something on his i-pod/i-phone.
Pal is smiling at whatever she’s listening to. The plan, we learned earlier, is to have
Vanessa sneak a snapshot of the two of them and post it on his Facebook page,
which she dutifully does. Rodri sees the
web page and the photos of her and Aaron smiling and listening to tunes with his
“new gal.” Rodri goes BSC again.
Suzanito, Mancia and Irasema visit the
church, light their candles, and make their plea.
Rodri, Col and Don R have lunch at the same
street-side café and the same cute waitress waits on them again. Col gives her a little keyring with a huge
heart-shaped fob on it. She now holds the
keys to his heart. FF>>
Suz and Irasema get to work makin’ babies
again.
Back at the bar, later that day, Pichi and
Lalo are setting up for the wedding and do a complete rundown of all the
bullet-worthy news events of the past few months. “--Who’d
have thought that…--”
The wedding takes place at the bar and El
Baritono returns to add to the musical madness and Don Rod is now dressed in a
charro and one of the group. They all serenade the newlyweds while Pal stands
by Rodri but is painfully ignored throughout.
Back in El Lay, by the light of the moon,
Maria works on her legal notes and Santos looks through his, swearing that they’ll
prove his innocence and finally be free to love each other with the law hanging
over their heads.
Suz tells the mariachis that the bar’s losing
money badly and he hates the idea of turning it back over to her in the
red. Justo gives them the news that
JAntos’s trial has been moved up. Maria
has an idea that might help his son and she’s got a plan that needs their
assistance if they’re willing to do what he suggests.
The reception ends. Fernando and Ana have their wedding night and
then Fer starts packing. Irasema packs
the bags for Suz.
Col promises Rodri that he’ll make sure that
Paloma and he get back together.
Meanwhile, back at the bar, Pichi and Lalo
find out that the bar is haunted!
End parte 1~~
===========
Parte 2~~
Ruben hands El-vile-ra the file with the
contract giving him ownership of Maria’s colonia. They agree she’s the one to
go to Maria’s and kick her and her family out onto the street since he’s still
a fugitive from the law. She gladly
accepts and they laugh e-vile-ly.
Meanwhile, the mariachis arrive in El Lay,
U.S.A. with Justo and surprise JAntos at the prison with a Ranchero Musicale
for the Mexican prisoners who’ve apparently been on good behavior recently. Santos points out all the members. Michael says don’t bother telling me who the
guitar player is, he’s got to be Mil Amores cuz he looks so much like Don
Nando. Mikey asks if Santos plans on
introducing the two to each other.
Santos says he’d like to be he doesn’t know how Fernando will feel about
it.
Inside the prison, Don Nando is awakened by
the music (and Viewerville is pondering that possibly his memories are also.)
To top things off, Maria now arrives dressed in
her best charra finery and sings a special serenade to her one and only. It becomes a duet as JAntos jumps to
her side and sings along with her. They
end it with a passionate kiss.
At the same time, the big bad wolf of a prosecuting
attorney [fiscal] is complaining to Old Goldie that it won’t be as easy as they’d
like locking up Santos Martinez de la Garza because of all the inconsistencies
in his case. (You can say that again—try in this whole storyline! But never fear cuz his Lady-Love and Lawyer is there to save the day! And we all know what a whiz Maria is at finding case irregularities and mopping up the floor with nasty opposing counsels.) “--For one thing, the cops who put him in
jail were a couple of total useless fools.” (I prefer screw-ups, or better still, the street
vernacular, i.e., fuck-ups!) Well, no
big deal, OG says, cuz he’s got an ace up his sleeve, one last big bad-ass card to play, and he plans
to use it at the right time. “--So, in the meantime, Mr.
Prosecutor, let me worry about when to play that card! You do your job and squash him!”
Back in the barrio, there’s a loud, rude
banging on Maria’s mother’s door. Hello!!
It’s Elvile-ra there with an eviction notice! Amalia says this can’t be because my daughter
the lawyer had the judge put a stop to it! Not so fast, says the Elvile-ra with a snide
look and a snicker. Maria the great lady
lawyer must have lost, because the judge says it’s valid. Now get out, take that junk with you and make
it fast!” But we don’t have anywhere
else to go, squeals Amalia. Not my problem,
lady, says Elvile-ra. She snaps her
fingers at the movers who smash Isa’s dolly’s arm on the way out with the
couches. So much for that kneeling supplication
b.s. of Vi’s. The baby faced court clerk sneers at Amalia to fageddabowdit when she tries complaining to him! Ohhhh, Elvira, clucks Amalia, you have a venomous heart! (Whatever gave you that impression, Mollie?)
Amid
the screams of a frightened Isa, the embattled Amalia, baffled and befuddled, can
only plop down on the floor next to Isa and watch in dismay as the trampy vamp
finally gets her way. Viewerville wonders when Amalia will ever get a first clue
let alone the last.

La Tempestad, Cap. 40, September 20, 2013: Gavel-to-Gavel Coverage: The Trial
Someone must have been telling lies about Josef K., he knew he had done nothing wrong but, one morning, he was arrested.
The Trial, by Franz Kafka (the opening line)
The courtroom fills with a mix of the malevolent -- the hags, the harpies, the gangsters -- and the well-meaning -- the fisherman, the weeping women, the man of the cloth. Hernán insinuates himself into the ranks of the Damianistas, (the groom's side). He is Hernán Haskell and he is there to help.
Ursula, in a short, button-straining red dress that does not quite contain her exuberant cleavage, trips in on Delfina's arm, Mayuya trailing in their wake. She eyeballs Hernán from her side of the room, (the bride's side).

Weekend Discussion: Have your viewing habits changed with all the new technology?
Discovery Channel led the way in directing viewers to their website to check out more information about the subject matter of their programs. I don't know whether it was yet known that many people multitask their media this way, but most of the television world knows it now. That's why we have Univision on-air personnel encouraging people to tweet during the program.
Which I don't think is a good idea. I think it makes for diminished attention and may encourage the short attention span that is already such a problem that it's almost impossible to find scenes longer than two minutes and many that are only three dialogue lines long.
I had already seen the finale of
La Que No Podia Amar before it aired on Univision and I tweeted a couple of times during their finale broadcast. I absolutely feel that it added nothing to the experience and took away part of the impact of the action. It has turned me off Twitter.
Most of the time I watch my TV programs when they air. The DVR is for when there is a conflict, if I'm not home, or in case there is an important call during my novelas.
How about you, amigos?
Is it live or is it DVR? Netflix? On-Demand on your cable system or On-Demand from another source? Enquiring minds want to know all...

Episode 39, La Tempestad, 19 September 2013 A Robust Attempt to Identify Ursula
Antes de Hoy
Marina and Catfish talk by the sea. It’s noisy with the
waves in the background. MARINA WEEPS that she loves Damian even when he hurts
her. Catfish cannot understand why Damian would dump Marina when he was in the
Can. Hell, I can’t understand why Damian would dump Marina, period. The Captain
has always been an honorable man. MARINA CRIES.
Hernan’s House
An underling, Let’s call him Tan Vest, \comes in to tell Hernan that his orders have
been executed. Genaro and Aurelia will
no longer be a problem for Hernan. I believe that this vague comment means that
Tan Vest killed these two even lesser underlings. Ah ha! Now Hernan has
silently foiled Ernesto, his secret enemy, again. (Of course, I wonder if there
are truly dead or just on a cruise to Barbados). Anyhow, Hernan inquires after
the method of the ‘elimination’ and Tan Vest reposts that as Hernan ordered he
made it looks as if they have fled in haste. “Perfecto,” chuckles Hernan, only
one Rat left. He makes a call on his cell phone and Tan Vest scrapes out of the
room on his hands and knees. Really he just disappears.
Bea’s Casa
Tia Becky is bemoaning that she cannot understand just how
Damian could act so coldly toward Marina. She feels like a fool for promoting
the relationship between Marina and Damian. MARINA SOBS. “Don’t say anything to
my Mom”, Marina asks her Aunt. I don’t want it to affect her health. Right on
cue, Beatriz enters the room with an ‘I-told-you-so’ look on her face. She
hates to see Marina’s pain but she told her Damian was going to make her
suffer. However, she knows that DamStupid is no murderer. Marina doesn’t think
that Damian is a murderer either, but somehow he played with her heart. Tia
Becky, the smartest person in the room by about 20 IQ points, says that she
doesn’t think Damian has stopped loving Marina. Damian talked a good game but
only (somos hechos) our actions/facts count. Bea says she has learned this in
life and looks sad. Later, when Aunt and Niece are by them selves, Marina tells
Becky that she gave herself to Damian for love. Tia, who has MUCH more experience
of men than Marina, says she is sure that Damian’s intention was not just to
get Marina into bed. Tia Becky excuses her self to take a walk. MARINA CRIES.

CI, Cap. 93 – 9/19/13: Good-bye Golden Isle, Hello Hacienda! (Or: Lock Up Your Husbands, MariCruz Is Back!)
From the Previous Episode
The farewell scene with Raiza and MA
is repeated: Teo and Angel are the same person, thanks to the magic of cosmetic
surgery. Raiza should work with him and give him a chance. The ladies hug and say they prefer “see you
later” to goodbye.
Also repeated is the scene with
Tav embracing Simona while seeing a flashback of MariCruz, which doesn’t bode
well for his future with the revamped ranchera.
A New Chapter for Our Heroine
A jet streaking across the sky
symbolizes MariAle’s flight (in both senses) from Isla Dorada. At her Mexico City home, Tobias and Solita welcome
her, Lupita and Juanita. She greets her nephew, “Hi, kid,” so he’s either still
nameless or she’s forgotten his name. She updates Tobias: she was forced to
sell the casino and bought Rancho Narvaez. No need to fix a room, since she has
to go alone to get things fixed up. Then she’ll bring Solita and nameless
nephew to their new home. (Solita seems not entirely happy to be left behind
again.) Tobias asks if she bought the ranch for revenge and she admits he’s
right.

Qué Bonito Amor #113 (Mex 151) Thursday 9/19/13 Que Malditas Tonterías
Santos' trial date has been moved up and it's just too damn bad that he doesn't have a lawyer or anything remotely resembling a defense. I roll my eyes at the prosecutor bitching that he thinks Santos is a criminal.
At the LA popo, Curtis gives Derecho a shoulder rub as Maria walks in. She thanks them for letting her see Santos and asks to see his record. Maria's going to the "If he was a real criminal, he would've gone to the Bahamas, not lived in a craphole and worked as a mariachi," defense. Maria thinks between that and her pluckiness, she can defend Santos.
Santos is determined to prove his innocence, since his lovely lady snuck into the country to be with him.
Maria swears to Derecho that she didn't know who Santos really was. Derecho gets the call that Santos' trial is taking place in 2 days. Derecho tells Maria that Santos is going to be prosecuted by a real hardass. She begs to see Santos' record.

Careful who you kiss!
Hi patio peeps,I'm going to give you a short recap because (A) not much happened in tonight's episode and (B) I'm feeling a little bit under the weather, so here we go!
Parts 1 & 2 are up
He kissed her, god help us all:
In the good old pueblo Octavio, his half a brain cell and Simona are chilling out, it turns out that our dear Octavio has been feeling a little depressed (waaah waaah look at how our hearts bleed for you, NOT!), Simona says that's understandable given all that he has been through, he agrees, even the sale of the ranch has given him the blues, but maybe some day he and Simona can afford to buy it back.
Simona jumps all over that and asks him if he would like to have the ranch back, she would buy it for him if he wanted her to. Eh, someone needs to tell her to calm the heck down, the only time you can buy love is when you go to the pound and buy a cat or a dog. Octavio, who just a few seconds ago suggested buying the ranch now tells her that no, he would not like that-we need to put him on some medication, his lack of short term memory worries me.

La Tempestad Cap #38 Wed, 9/18/13 - More crying and noble idiocy *
* - Vita (Thanks for your comment, it made a perfect title.)
Redux: Delfina is pretty nice when she’s not hanging around with the toxic Esteryuya. She knows Dam’s no murderer. He tells her Madre E said Estercita is alive. QUE QUE QUE??? Ursula blackmails Esteryuya. Candy lets Lolo escort her to the jail to see Dam.
Lo Nuevo: DamHelplessInJail hears the mob of townspeople whip themselves into a frenzy against Frankenstein’s monster. No wait. Wrong story, ...whip themselves into a frenzy against Marina Reverte! DamHelpless thought bubbles that Marina shouldn’t have to pay the price for loving him.
Mayuya and Ursula walk up to the crowd and gleefully observe their wrath. Fully drags Delfina away from the crowd and she tells him to “Suelteme!” She is bummed to see Mayuya looking like Mayuya instead of Esteryuya but she can’t stick around for self-analysis or chit-chat. She’s got something important to do. Alone. (Before we continue I must say I am amazed at these ladies’ very high heels. But I can tell you from my recent experience in Mexico that uneven pavements and cobblestones will not deter the fashionable ladies from wearing these impractical shoes.)
Ick Alert!! Macario escorts EsterHada into a classy mall or store to do some shopping. He keeps a tight grip on her. Ick I say!! He says treat Don E right and she’ll be treated like a queen.
Back at R-Lay-Dee the beyotch cheerleading squad is leading the student body in a pep rally. Ursula sees Marina rushing up with Jose and Maycucu tells her Marina is the one who caused Estercita’s death. Jose gathers those papers from Candy (testimonials?) and goes into the jail with Candy and Lolo. Lolo gets sidetracked by Mayuya and comments that she looks better dressed as herself. She calls him panzón (tubby or fatty). He gives her the nyaa nyaa and says he thinks she likes him. A little.

his love – absolutely not, capice?
Replay of Maria singing at the fence as lightning bolts
streak across the sky and as we discussed yesterday, Santos inexplicably can
hear her and responds. The two lovebirds
sing in harmony despite the distance between them.......yeah, ok whatever.
“I love you!” “I love you more!”

PEAM #137-9/18/13: What Is Big, Ugly and Permanent? Besides Jessica's Hair Of Course!
Recap by Pablo
Roses are red, violets are blue, I am so in love and so are you, I guess!
Jesús surprises Alma twice. First, because he apologizes for not sending more flowers, it is the middle of the week and he has not got his salary yet, and second because these three rose bouquets are ginourmous!! They come with instructions and everything like an Ikea bookcase!
The red roses mean passion, love and her beauty.
The pink ones mean admiration and thankfulness
The white ones mean that their pure and endless love will live on through the future for generations to come (In their will they have stated that their heads should be in jars next to each other)
The only thing missing was the insulin shot.
When the rest of the girls at Avon see that, their sighs can be heard from the moon!
Besides all that honey dripping love, Avon's personnel are being eaten alive with all the guessing for Jéssica's secret.

CI Capítulo 91: Taking The Easy Way Out....Again!
Capítulo 91
[Parte 1]
Lo del Pasado:
While Simona 2.0 tells
Esther she has a problem recognizing her new and improved self in the mirror,
Octavio and his guilt-ridden conscience don’t do much better with Ghost of
Eusebio, his identical twin brother (as in spittin’ image of) who’s also apparently
got it in for Los Narvaez. (And we thought Ewwwie and his raspy voice were
one of a kind! Who knew?)
Lo del Nuevo:
Twin Brother Of
Eusebio asks for a job cuz he’s hurtin’ for money. Tav says sorry, my ranch has been sold so I
can’t offer you anything. Maybe the new
owner will have something for you. (Uh, aren’t you the new ranch manager for
the one next door, Bozo? It's just like I thought! You don’t know
nothin’ ‘bout runnin’ no ranchos! Just like I thought: just gonna be Simone’s
toy-boy.) Tav wanders back
the way he came, telling TBOE that he heard wrong. No work here.
El TBOE gripes to himself that now he won’t have a chance to get back at
his bro’s murderer.

Qué Bonito Amor #111 (Mex 149) Tuesday 9/17/13 Hot Prison Love is the Best Love
PEAM, Tuesday 9/17/13 (#136): REDFINGER
Xochi asks: who am I to get in the way of true love?
Wait, is this a riddle? Can I answer?
Xochi, you're Fernando's wife and you're truly in love with him and your true love is just as good as Díscua's if not better. Plus, there was that wedding and everything.
At the manicomio, Marta and her long-lost identical twin Marcia throw creepy looks over one another's shoulders as they embrace. (When people get too much Botox, I can't read their facial expressions. When TWINS get too much Botox, it's twice as bad!)
Rogue is soaking his finger in a glass of water. (Suddenly I have to go to the bathroom.) He tells Cantú that he's breaking up with Verónica TODAY! Careful, dude... she does NOT take rejection well. Rogue is annoyed that Nick expects him to be at his beck and call. I'm sick of looking at Rogue's cold, wet, red finger.
Vero, the virulent moron, the 100-pound malignant tumor in Chucho's life, sets up the voice recorder on her phone and pays Nick Donovan a visit at his hotel. The room is filled with smoke, making Nick look even more cartoony than ever. She says she's here on Rogue's behalf. Nick gallantly puffs cigar smoke in her face. Vero tries not to look scared.
Alma brings Chucho home for a surprise party, because if there's anything a convalescing stomach patient needs, it's excitement and fancy food. His is greeted by his entire extended family.

La Tempestad, September 16, 2013. Capitulo 36.
Fully gets onto Nereo for mistreating the girls. The customers are complaining that the girls are being delivered bruised and unhappy. (Really? Perhaps their unhappy because they are being SOLD as slaves you idiot) Anyway, Fully says he better treat them well or else. Hernan makes his grand entrance and tells Nereo that he lives in a pigsty. Nereo tells him to pay him better and the conditions will improve. Who invited you to come over anyway? Hernan ignores him and asks Fully what he wants. Fully tells Hernan that Nereo is mistreating the girls and the customers are refusing the deliveries. All this is going on as Robles is listening in via hidden camera. Hernan tells Nereo that he is giving them to many problems. Whatever says Nereo. Like you could find someone else to take care of the girls. Hernan laughs his wicked laugh and informs Nereo that both he and Fully appreciate him, but the girls are like delicate fruit. Would you buy the bruised ones? Or the fresh ones? Nereo understands but still gripes. Hernan laughs again and tells Nereo not to make fun of them and calls him an idiot. We have someone who could easily take your place. Who asks Nereo. Lazaro replies Hernan. Nereo laughs and Fully is not a happy camper. Hernan says you can leave, but you will be burying yourself. (meaning he can only leave dead) Nereo looks worried and Fully tells him to stop arguing and obey orders. Nereo says fine, but who is my boss? Fully and Hernan both say they are. Knock on the door and it's Robles. He wants to know what the major of the town and the local millionaire have to do with a shady character like Nereo?
DamFine and Marina are taking a stroll in the woods. DamFine tells Marina that he had a talk with Maya-loca and told her to quit messing with her and her family. I told my boys that we are going to keep watch over you and your family for awhile. Marina is grateful and DamFine will do anything just to see her smile. She says his manly muscular arms make her feel safe and secure. He's happy that Bea decided to stay. She kisses him and says this is for taking such good care of my mom and the people of this town. What are you talking about asks DamCurious. She tells him a little birdy told her that he buys gifts and takes the kids in town around. He denies it, but she doesn't believe him. She is so proud of him and is going to shout it to the world. The run around the woods and fall to the ground. He tells her that he just does what his heart tells him to do.
Fully wants to know what Robles is doing there? Robles says that's the same question I want to ask you. I already said how strange it is for you all to be together. Hernan laughs and asks what's so strange about 3 men having a visit? Robles says you guys have nothing in common unless you are in the same business with Nereo. Nereo denies he has any business. Robles says he thinks that Nereo is involved in the trafficking of women. Hernan asks if he has any proof? Not yet, but I will soon replies Robles. Fully tells Robles that the investigation business is between him and Nereo. They are only here for... Suddenly Jaz comes out of her room. Nereo wants to know what she wants. Jaz wants to talk to Robles. Nereo tells her that Robles doesn't have time for her but Robles takes her aside and asks her to talk. Fully and Hernan look worried. Jaz looks like she's about to spill the beans and in runs Lazaro.

Hola PEAM Peeps. This was a kind of light episode and especially loved the little soft shoe, so hence the title, courtesy of HeatWave! I am also skipping the refried and starting with the new. I am subbing for Cheryl, who is visiting Venice and France, but she'll be back next week!
Chatita, and Alma are paying Chucho a bit of a visit at the hospital. Chucho wants Alma to go home and get some rest, she has hardly left his side since all this happened and Chatita is hurrying her along. So after many Ti Amo's and smoochies, Alma finally goes. Chatita doesn't get what he wants, ya know you get the ring, you propose and your done! No, no, he says something spectacular! They put their heads together. Chatita has some wild idea about a proposal she saw in a novela, leave it to Chatita! Chucho doesn't like the idea, it has something to do with water. Father Domingo wouldn't go for that! He warns Chatita to say nothing to Alma, this will be a big surprise. Hey Chucho, remember Chatita has trouble rememebering things, hmmmmm......Is it catching????

Corazon Indomable, Episode #90, Monday, 9/16/2013 – Boy, Oblivio Really Is No Good!!!
Recap by LatinaInMD
Boy, Oblivio Really Is No Good!!!
The Short: When I
was enjoying this show, I liked recapping every little detail. But now that I’m somewhat bored (sorry,
gringo), I came up with this short Haiku version of Oblivio’s “accomplishments”
in this episode:
Flee Shut Up Doris,
Lean on Simona for Dough,
Bye, Bye, Baby Girl!!!
Oh, ok, I guess a little detail is still in order, given this is
such a “pivotal” episode.
The Long:
I’m still giving you all more or less a bullet-point recap
because that’s pretty much what we got from the editors with this seriously
chopped-up episode. Was it just my
impression, or were most scenes just seconds long?
Previously: Lucia
is on the phone with Ofelia, telling her they have sold the ranch and must pack
up their belongings. Octavio bemoans to
Ed the loss of his parents’ beloved ranch, as if he didn’t spend the better
part of his adult immature playboy life trying to get rid of it.

Qué Bonito Amor #109 (Mex 147) Friday 9/13/13 Face To Face Once More, But Cheek to Cheek?
While bustiered Wanda’s intriguing Coloso and Don Rigo with her eighth and
ninth wonders of the world, those two fall for the oldest bar scam in the books and get stuck with a 20 thousand peso bill for their two bottles of champagne. Colosso
ends up having to sing to cover the cost.

Porque el Amor Manda #134: Patricia la Recepcionista, Part II
In the "work" place:
Rogelio shambles out of the elevator and is greeted by the happy trill of the new receptionist -- our Patymelt, looking scrumptious in Avon pink. The security guards are thrilled with the view. He storms back to his office and calls Alma, who giggles through the entire conversation. Tough toenails, Rog; the paperwork's done and the contract's signed! He tells her he hates her. Que lastima! I like her a lot better when she gets her snark on.
Rogue calls Paty into his office and tries to boss her around, but of course she's been around long enough to know he ain't the boss. She gives a very nice speech: she can live without him, she's starting her life over, and she has important work to do -- so next time he buzzes her, he'll hear one word: WHATEVER.
Back at the front desk, Vero shows up in the diamond dog-collar and is surprised to see the Alpha Female herself. Vero taunts her for having a tacky little job, which seems oddly snobbish for someone who makes her living on her back. Paty replies that gosh yes, she is wildly jealous; she would MUCH rather live with a man who sends flowers and jewelry to other women. Uh-oh! GIRL FIGHT! The guards have a jolly time physically separating them.
Neurotica marches into Rogue's office, throws the necklace in his face, and demands that he fire Paty immediately. After she's gone, he talks to himself in his iPad mirror app. If he can get good enough at calling himself "Rrrrroger," he won't need her anymore.
In other news:
* Jess can't hit the sheets with Ollie because she has some terrible secret that will ruin everything if it comes out before the wedding. She can't possibly be a virgin -- although that would certainly be quite a secret -- so what is it?
* In a complete departure from telenovela law, Alejandra witnesses not only the attempt but also the failure of Discua's seduction, and still feels the need to march into Avon to discuss the "almost-kiss" with both Fernie and Xochi. QTH? Doesn't Fern get any brownie points at all???
* Vero confesses to Cinthia that hating Chucho is the only way she can be near him -- at least if they're fighting, they still have a relationship. Well, at least she's self-aware.
* Val tells Eli that Paty's a good egg and advises him to put on his big-boy pants and ask her to be his novia.
* The gremio is plotting some super-hot makeover for Xochi, but with all the running around talking to everyone but Fernando about Fernando she won't sit still long enough for them to do anything.
* Augusta begs Jesus to come back to work. She needs him! She can't manage on her own!
* Alma and Val have secrets, too. Maybe there IS more super-glue.

Porque el Amor Manda #134: Patricia la Recepcionista, Part I
On the other side of death's door:
Jesus has thought of a way to keep Alma next to him for everz and everz. He gets a coquettish smile. It's probably just something lame like asking her to marry him and not something cool and original like letting Valentina attach them to each other with super-glue, but anyway, he won't tell, even if she blandishes him with big besos. She tries anyway.
Delia arrives in mid-blandishment to announce that Marta is going to be spending the rest of her life in the manicomio. Ha. We'll see about THAT.She also gives Jesus a book that may or may not be about after-death experiences, and oh, by the way, tells him that he is free to return home as long as he stays away from Valentina. Wasn't that kind of the big news? Shouldn't that have been the opener, or was she trying to warm him up with reading matter?
Just then Valentina comes rocketing in like a Chucho-seeking missile, followed by balloons, Paty, Elias and Chatita, in that order. Delia allows that the defendant is not at fault if he's bedridden and someone launches a child at him. What a grown-up. No wonder she doesn't get many lines. Chucho gathers his motley family around and gives a pretty speech thanking his tocayo for all the lurrrrrrves. Group hug + manly fist bump.
Out in the middle of the street, frightening the horses:
Discua accosts Fernando in front of his apartment building. She never defrauded anyone! She's innocent! He looks skeptically at her fancy car. Hey, I worked (out) hard for that! She homes in on his lips several times, but he stands firm. Alejandra eavesdrops with pretty mouth agape.
At Big Bra Central:
Chatita is hanging up laundry when someone raps insistently at the door. Surprise! It's Discua's cleavage! Chatita tries to give her the bra -- after all, they're practically twins. (Discua and Chatita, that is. Get your minds out of the gutter.) Discua says that Chatita probably doesn't remember her, but she needs some advice. Chatita says she doesn't remember anybody; why should that slow down the therapy train? How about a drink? Discua replies that Beings of Light don't drink. Then she confesses that she's in love with a married man. Chatita gets the rompope.

Corazón Indomable #89, Fri 13: A Hammock In The Shade Of A Tree
Racap by Carlos
The cool girls, Doris (she's the governor's daughter in case
you forgot) and Mariana, her BFF and future stepmom, are hanging out in Doris'
room as the phone rings. Mariana answers and mouths to Doris, who's busy filing
her nails,
"It's him!"
Him is a desperate and confused Octavio who's furiously
seeking answers about recent events. but he's not gonna get them here... Doris
wants nothing to do with him.
|
She's Describing It For Me As We Speak. |
He picks up the phone and calls Maricruz. He tells her that
he is calling to congratulate her and say goodbye. Say what? She thought that
he's about to marry the governor's daughter. Nopis. No wedding, and worse, he's
been accused of horrible crimes. Maricruz looks confused.
Still busy with her nails, Doris explains to Mariana that
Octavio has decided not to marry her so she had him expelled from the island.
I wonder what they were talking about before he called if
she's just now telling Mariana about it.
"Then you don't
love him?"
"I may love him but my pride and dignity are much more
important than that..."
She will enjoy watching him suffer.

Weekend Discussion: Most Annoying Characters
Many
novelas have characters that just annoy us whether they were meant to
or not. This could be because of poor acting, the character's bad
timing, character stupidity, or just plain being out of place in the
story. This character can be any age and of either sex. These are characters we would never write into the story or wouldn't write the way they are appearing to us.
I'll start
by nominating Almira of Qué Bonito Amor. Her
inconsistent behavior in supporting and then slamming Maria's choices
would be gaslighting behavior in a villana, but she never quite comes
off as being intelligent enough to use this as a control tactic. That made all of us want to slap her flat.

La Tempestad, Cap. 34, Thursday, September 12: Madrina said there'd be days like this, there'd be days like this, Madrina said.
In the magical cave
DamFab and Marina lie together on the carpet of rose petals. She kisses his bare, chiseled chest, looks adoringly into his Bambi eyes and says:
En tus brazos me he hecho mujer. Eres el primer hombre en mi vida.
(In your arms, I became a woman. You are the first man in my life.)
DamFab replies:
Quiero ser el último también.
(I want to be the last one as well.)
[Some on the Patio are fanning themselves so furiously that they miss the mutual professions of forever and ever. In one corner, there is a debate going on: why didn't he say y el único? Technical loophole?]
A full moon rises. [In the damn sky, wise guys, in the damn sky.]
At Ernesto's little place in the country
Hernán can hardly believe his luck in stumbling upon Esthercita, known in these parts as "Hada." He'll have to see what he can do to jolly her memory along on the sly.

Qué Bonito Amor #108 (Mex 146) Thursday 9/12/13 Que Largo Camino
Paloma isn't in the mood to go to PE. She gets Roddy reminiscing about his mom and he rightly points out that her mom at least has a chance to recover, while his mom is dead. Paloma responds to his "put your big girl pants" pep talk on. A classmate nags them to get to PE. Since the budget can no longer accommodate the actress who plays the teacher.
Susanito goes looking for Irasema, who's packing at her old apartment. He apologizes for being an idiot, but he doesn't realize yet he's apologizing for the wrong thing.
Amalia is a pessimist. I know, I know, what a shock. Justo tells her there's always a tomorrow. Good thought, Justo. Give her the hope of living for another day to complain about something different. Amalia says she misses Pedro. Just also misses Altagracia. He didn't expect for her to be gone from his life before the kids were. Justo says he and Amalia can share their solitude.
Santos caresses the wall and tells Don Nando and Michael that he'll get out, damnit!
Maria uses Colosso's cell to call Justo.
Who's busy asking Amalia why she never remarried. "You're still a hot babe. Trust me. I'm a guy. We know these things." Justo answers his phone and leaves the room without letting Amalia know who called.

C I, Cap. 88, 9/12/13 – Vengeance Is Mine! Says MariCruz. And Mine! Says Doris.
It’s a casserole episode here: some chunks of meaty action layered with lots
of rehash and other filler, just in case you forgot or never knew what happened
waaay back. Short scenes may be combined.
Warmed Over from
Yesterday
Simona, with her upgraded image, reminds Octavio she always loved him, wanted
to marry him. He knows they’ve been BFF, but she’s all gorgeous now. (No
explanation on how the mole was removed so quickly.) She knows he loves
MariCruz and doesn’t love Doris, but she can offer a third option. She’ll settle
for being his wife and living at his side.
Tav Starts the
Next Round of Angry Spouses
Raiza
and MariAle see Tav enter the casino with a new lady on his arm. Simona is
amazed at how sophisticated and elegant MA appears. (Simona’s in a lavender and
lace gown, MA in dark blue with silver trim and long sleeves. It has near total coverage in the front and a
completely bare back except for a few silver strips.) MA should remember her,
but is doubtful until Tav says Simona’s full name.
Cautious courtesy follows between the two ladies, while Tav
and MA start some verbal sparring, based on her past and his taste in
women. She claims she’s still somewhat
bruta (coarse), but she’s going to marry the Gov and become a society lady. MA
tells Simona this is her best chance to marry Octavio. He praises Doris’ fine
qualities, and MA says that’s good, they’ll all get along living in the same
house. MA breaks off the useless arguing and sweeps Simona into the casino for
a tour.

PEAM #133- Easter, Thursday, September 12, 2013
The past:
In the ladies bathroom- Alma tells Virus to stay away from
Jesus.
At Avon, Xochy is whining about Rogue, Ferny, Discua and how
Rogue lied about Discua to keep them apart and the gossip league assures her that
Ferny loves her. Susana warns her
that if she keeps acting stupid she will lose Ferny.
Back to the ladies room, Virus tries to insult Paty but Paty
is not having it. Destroying a
child’s life, skank, Paty gives Virus back any insults that are thrown to her
including the one about being a mother and shoves Virus out of the bathroom by
using her for your foul revenge. Augusta
is singing Jesus’ praises to Alma including how good he looks, how smart he is
and that he did make the sales target but Alma lets Augusta know that Jesus is
hers and that he was healthy before he started working at Orion. The constant
pressures have stressed him out and advanced his ulcer.

Corazon Indomable, #87 Forget the Monkey, Where's the Mole?
I’m sitting at the patio of low expectations with the crowd to watch tonight’s episode. Everyone seems to be in a good mood. I will be giving bullet points as I am busy having a good time with all my Caray amigos.
We open with Mariana rushing to Doris’s bedroom after the maid tells her that Doris was screaming that she wanted to kill herself, and the patio shouting ‘Do it’.
Simona sits in the beauty salon with Jackie giving the hairdresser instructions to make her beautiful. Simona has her doubts.
Miguel is kinda sorta happy about selling the ranch, but on the other hand feels guilty that he’s letting his father down because his father loved it so much. Octavio, not so much.

*Apologies to Morris Day for paraphrasing and shuffling his “Jungle Love”
Last night we left our happy couple kissing passionately all over the beach, in the limpid sea, on a conveniently place blanket, and with that damned theme song crashing all around them. And yes, poor Dam DOES have sunburned shoulders.
Tonight our hero’s romantic inclinations become a bit more urgent, but Marina says she’s not quite ready for this yet. DamPatient laughs a little, says they’re not in a hurry and have all the time in the world. He asks if Marina is hungry. (Because he sure as heck is, so to speak.) Let’s eat!

PEAM #132- 9/11/13: He Has Risen! Oh Well....I Am Sure He Will!!!
Recap By Pablo
I wanna be an actor. In this episode Jesús spent the whole time laying down ''unconscious'' and still gets paid.
Due to the many problems that Verónica has brought into his life Jesús is now dead.
Well, almost. His pulse is very weak, his chronic gastric ulcer has caused him an internal hemorrage and he has lost 90% of his blood. To make matters worse, his blood type is AB negative, a very rare, very, very rare type... Oh, telenovela Gods, please make someone in Monterrey have his same type, please!! Jesús still has 50 episodes left, a daughter to take care of and a huge pile of overdue work at Orión!
Not everything is milk and honey.. Now that Fernando has married Xóchitl, according to Murphy's law, Discua is back, and she wants him!! She is under the Universe's microscope and she thinks she deserves him!

La Tempestad Cap #32. September 10th 2013. The return of the WET WHITE PANTS! Alternative Title: Too Much Happiness Can't Be Good In A TN That Isn't About To End!
Boy, what an episode! Ok, let's skip the rehash and get to the new stuff....
|
Mayuya looks like she is about to snap |
Mayuya, the venomous snake, can't keep her venom inside any longer. She marches on over to where Familia Reverte, Jose, and Hernan are sitting at and yells at Marina that she's a hypocrite! Marina, our lovely heroine, isn't about to take crap from a venomous snake like Mayuya. She gets up and and yells at Mayuya "What did you just call me?". Mayuya lunges at Marina (and is very subtly held back by a smitten and dare I say it a very foolish Lolo) and calls Marina a hypocrite again. Padre whose sermon was interrupted walks on over to where the all commotion is happening and tells Mayuya to show more respect for God's house. "But this whore (fulana) showed no respect for Esthercita's feelings. Let everyone in town know that this woman is to blame for Esthercita's death. She killed her. She killed Esthercita" yells Mayuya. Reactions all around!
DamFab is a just a few blocks away from church. He stops to thoughtbubble what a blessing it is to be alive although what happened to Esthercita hurts him. He then continues on his way to church.

Qué Bonito Amor #106 (Mex 144) Tuesday 9/10/13 One Feared Dead in Daring Escape Attempt from L.A. Prison
“In any situation, the villain is the person who knows the most but
cares the least.”
Quote from I was the Black Hat by Chuck Klosterman.
“In all telenovela situations, the villain is the person who
thinks he knows the most but only cares about himself….and usually has an
appropriate punishment meted out as justice for the victims at the very end.”
Quote made up by Anita, applying telenovela law, as we close in toward the end of
QBA with some villains still on the loose.
Good evening, amigos, Anita here, reporting live from outside the
El-Lay Prision Estatal. This could be a United States Penitentiary, a maximum
security facility. There are three in
California—Atwater, Lompoc and Victorville.
But, it could also be a Federal Correctional Institution, for low or
medium security prisoners. There are six in California—Dublin (for women),
Herlong, Lompoc, Mendota, Terminal Island and Victorville (for women). Or, it could even be a facility for holding
pre-trial offenders. They are the Metropolitan Correctional Center in San Diego
and the Metropolitan Detention Center in Los Angeles. These are all operated by the Federal Bureau
of Prisons, a subsidiary of the U.S. Department of Justice.
Detention and Processing Centers run by ICE, a subdivision
of the Department of Homeland Security are vastly different. Currently, ICE detains immigrants in fifteen
detention centers nationwide (including privatized facilities), in state and
local jails, in juvenile detention centers, and in shelters. [Thank you
Wikipedia]
Your intrepid reporter for the El Lay Tiempos is here, early
Wednesday morning, on the grounds of the El Lay Prision Estatal waiting for a
spokesperson to emerge to give us details on this late-breaking news story of a
prison break by several extremely dangerous prisoners. We’ve heard rumors that
one is dead, maybe more, but at least one has been recaptured. Meanwhile we’ll fill you in with background
stories from the last couple of days of those involved.
If you want to go directly to the story of the break-out, it’s
on page A-15 (The Prison Break).
Although this takes place in El-Lay, it is a Dumb and
Dumber-free episode. We assume they are
on their honeymoon.

PEAM, Tuesday 9/10/13 (#131): Happy Birthday, Valentina!
Or, "Where's a Bucket When You Need One?"
They always say to accentuate the positive. If I do that with tonight's recap, it will be very, very short and Morónica will be the only character in it.
Here goes: Vero has Chucho arrested for visiting his daughter on her birthday, and then she keeps the necklace that Paty sent back to Rogelio and wears it in front of him and then makes him wear it and drives him crazy wondering how she got it.
That's it! Good night!

Corazon Indomable, #86, 9/10/13 Miguel can read a newspaper, Simona visits the isla just in time for her makeover and Doris likes to fake it
Hello, Patio People, it’s been a while since my last recap, so I feel a little
rusty. But, here goes...
Pretty in pink Maricruz is in her office, wondering about whether
Octavio knows that Doris tried to kill her or not. Oh well, here is a
nice little project for MC to take care of. She picks up the phone and dials
her adorable tormento, who is still
in the hospital.
Octavio is happy to hear her, but he hides his feelings quickly, using
his usual mask of mockery and condescension (this is a word, right?). They Señor/ Señora each other while MC tells
him that something muy grave
happened, and no, it definitely has nothing to do with their daughter (like
she’d ever share such an information with him) – it’s about his muchachita enamorada (Doris, in case
anyone wondered), who tried to assassinate her.
Tav: Are you joking, Señora?
MC: No, Señor, your muchachita histerica almost killed me
because she hates me. And she hates me because I’m marrying her dad.
Tav: If you’re marrying her dad, she has all the rights! (This is not a
joke, he actually said that!)

La Tempestad, September 9, 2013. Capitulo 31.
Robles is driving down the road and suddenly loses control
of his car. He hits a pole and is knocked unconscious.
Damian talks to Mercedes on the phone. She is happy to hear
that he is recuperating. Damian promises soon he will be fishing again.
Mercedes just wants him to get well. As soon as she finishes up her business
obligations, she will be down to see him. Damian says perhaps when you return,
I will give you some good news. Marina wants to know what good news he's going
to give Mercedes when she returns. Do you really want to know asks Damian
smiling that sexy smile. That you and I are going to get married. I know it may
be a little soon to talk about, but after everything that has happened; I just
want to spend the rest of my life with you. They kiss.
Beatriz can't believe that Hernan wants her to lie to her
daughter. He thinks this is the only way that they can separate Marina from
Damian. We can't allow them to be together. You're the only one that can break
them apart otherwise this will end in matrimony. Beatriz says she would be
upset if Marina ended up with someone that didn't deserve her. She is sentencing
herself to unhappiness. Beatriz decides to listen to Hernan and help break up
Marina and Damian.

PEAM #130-9/9/13: Daddy Jesus Ruins His Beloved Daughter's Birthday Party!
I am sure Cheryl is having a lot of fun in Italy, so we will have our fun too!
Welcome to my first
Monday recap subbing for Cheryl. Fasten your seatbelts, this will be a bumpy ride!
Recap By Pablo
How often do these people switch intros back and forth? I am getting dizzy!!
Interest has feet (el interés tiene pies)
Elías brings sweet bread to Chatita's house for breakfast but she has tamales of gallaga or guava or guayaba, I didn't understand, besides her selective amnesia, she has some kind of speech impairment. Later she said she has a lot of eggs, what in mexican slang means she is very courageous. The bigger the eggs, the bigger the courage!
Elías didn't actually want to have breakfast, but asks Chatita about Patricia and her feelings for him.
Chatita has found out Elías suffers the syndrome of ''Knight in shining armor'' rescuing damsels in distress.
Verónica is neurotic, Marisela is not happy with who she is, Marta is crazy, Patricia is a mess, do you really want to keep that pattern?

losing his perspective in accusing Santos of caring only about Maria
and not about Justo and Wendy.
Lo de

Giuliano lines up a shot with another hunting rifle.
Mexico
City, Street: Oscar takes a walk with Angelica. They're eating
ice cream as he talks and points out his Mariachera, the car, and
invites her for a ride. We see that she is wearing platform wedgies
[so the actress doesn't look too short next to Pablo Montero, who
still needs a shave].

Corazon Indomable #85, 9/9/13: Lupita’s Mommy and Daddy Continue to Pimp Themselves; Let’s Hope She Doesn’t Follow in the Family Business
The Old: Tav tries to break up with Doris; she refuses to be
broken up with. Mari treats us to a Venganza Monologue (thanks Adriana) about
how Rancho Narvaez will be “MIO!”
The New: The next day (new outfit indicates this), Maria
Alejandra is enjoying a quiet moment, doing work in her office and surprisingly
NOT giving us a Venganza Monologue, when all of a sudden La Hija del Gobernador
bursts in, packing heat. Doris, dressed very fashionably and tastefully for
murder, in a grey and black chiffon dress, points her handgun at Mari,
steadying it with her left hand, and says, “You are NOT going to marry my
father, and you certainly aren’t going to end up with my boyfriend!”
All of this makes Ester, La Loca, look very sane as she
continues to dig for water with a garden trowel in Realengo. Her blind neighbor
girl, Lina, passes by and Ester lures her over with some bread. Lina especially
likes sweet bread and mentions that her dad brings her bread, sometimes. Ester
can’t contain her enchantment with the little girl and kisses her hand, which
both surprises and pleases Lina. She asks if Ester isn’t evil (as is being said
about her). Ester explains that she’s just a bit undone/frayed (deshilachada/o)
at the moment, which happens sometimes when something bad or sad has happened
in someone’s life. She offers to tell Lina a fairytale. We see the beginnings
of a beautiful friendship.
Back to the real Locas, on the Island…Mari tells Doris to
pull the trigger, “Do it!” Doris wonders if Mari doesn’t think she’s capable of
doing it. Mari does, but she’s not scared of her.
D: Your life is at risk if you keep provoking me.
M: What do you mean by that? That if I don’t provoke you, you’re not capable of
firing? Poor deluded girl (ilusa). I’m
going to marry your father when I damn well feel like it! And your boyfriend,
even if I stop being his wife, I have him so much in my hands that if I asked
him to, he wouldn’t marry you!
Mari lunges for Doris reaching for the gun, they struggle
over it, Doris’s arm is wrapped around Mari’s neck, but Mari manages to bite
Doris’s hand, making her drop the gun. Mari grabs the gun and points it at Doris.
D: You damn ferocious beast (fiera)!
M: Call me Savage! That’s what everyone calls me! Go ahead! Now, get the hell
out of here!
Doris refuses to leave, so Mari calls security to have her
dragged out.
