Me Declaro Culpable #30, 3/30/20: Secrets Discovered, Confessions Made, Dreams Lost, And Roberta's Still Crazy
Home Sweet Home
Meanwhile Roberta and Mauro, both awake back at the house, are having a contentious papa-daughter chat. She KNOWS Franco is not working late as he claims. For sure he's with that Alba bitch. Mauro defends her as a "pobre muchacha" which ticks Bertie off big time. So, you love her more than me!? (Well Alba did save his life, whereas Bertie tried to take it. Sooo.....)

CarayCaray Lexicon for the Patio of Lowered Expectations - Part III
Beso Interruptus – A near kiss, which would have been consummated between a couple, had it not been for some crucial (and probably fortuitous) interruption by a third party. (Doris’ mini-cap in Y Mañana Sera Otro Día.)
Can’t letgoitis – Refusal to admit that a lover or marital partner can move on. (Nandicta’s recap in AQNMD.)
Chickenitis – Disease produced when someone has the opportunity to say or do something to clear up misunderstandings and doesn’t. (Nina on AQNMD referring to Paulina not telling Adrian about his daughter Valentina)
Creative Constipation – Label used for telenovelas that can’t “go.” (Lila referring to where Vino el Amor was trying to “go.”)
Cue the Kayak – When a scene in any telenovela gets too tedious, this phrase is shouted out begging for the end credits to appear. (Etymology: Where kayaking did not feature in Triunfo de Amor, but accompanied the end credits. Originally from the pen of wordsmith Capt. Silvia Sharkbait referring William Levy in TdA.)

Me Declaro Culpable #29, 3/27/20: Apparently Denial Isn’t Only in Egypt
Ok, I concede. They did it. Neither had ever felt the way they did ever before. It was like flying, but this time they flew together. On with all the hijinks for today.
It’s a Fizzle
The confrontation that we all thought Alba was contemplating as she flew out of the coffee shop when she left Blanca turned into a nothing about even less. She points at Mauro and tells him that because of his *relationship* with Ingrid, he’d better not be planning anything to prejudice her case. Mauro Denies anything of the sort. Berta is relieved. Mauro promises to back up Franco in her case.

Me Declaro Culpable #26, 3/24/20: The Geometry of Drama
Drunk Roberta continues to insult everyone at the dinner party, and after every single member of her family tells her to go to her room, she grabs the car keys and an entire bottle of bourbon and heads out to Tiziano's bachelor pad, where she demands that he knock her up yesterday. Amazingly, he's up for it -- only not in the way she wants, because it turns out he had a vasectomy way before yesterday. He continues to swear his love for her -- why does she think he never married, anyway? -- and she continues to treat him worse than dirt. And now she's really mad because she got down with her dress on for no good reason.
Point A to Point C
Franco drives Gabriel back to Aqua House, where Gabe corners him for a "man-to-man" talk. "Are you in love with my Mom?" Franco comes clean, and Gabe says then dude, get a divorce already. What does it tell you when a 16-year-old boy is the only one who gives decent advice? The conversation is interrupted by the arrival of Pedro, who has invited himself to an impromptu slumber party.
Point D to Point E
Julian passes out after dropping Natalia's name but before dropping Paolo's, but even Katia can put two and two together and get homewrecker. She runs off to dish to Paolo, but he's not home and Dante won't let her in. Good doggie!

Me Declaro Culpable #25, 3/23/20: Where Has the Magic Gone?
It’s been a long night for Nat and Paolo
They are still discussing the Always-There-Never-Wanted Julián’ phone call interrupting their unfinished Maximus Festivus Miraculum attempt. The fact that Julián said that it is now suspected a woman caused Paolo’s accident worries Nat. She asks Pao if that would make a difference to him? How? Well, Nat says, as she srolls through the list of her own probable reasons for it being a real accident. Pao’s not buying it. Man or woman, he’s in a wheelchair and full of anger towards the person. Nat wishes he hadn’t answered the call. He tries to sweet talk her back to where they left off. Nat says it’s not happening. The Magic Has Gone.
The KISS is Up and Hanging
Before Franco goes home, he stops by the office to hang his newest acquisition, Alba’s Awful Artwork, Executed in the Dark. Interestingly, he hangs it behind his desk, where he won’t see it all the time. Back home, he crawls into bed as far away from B-P Bertie as he can. The Magic is Gone. Meanwhile, Alba writes a letter.
Nat is entertained by a two-legged Paolo
While Paolo sleeps, Nat snivels watching him exhibit his soccer skills on TuTube. She climbs back into bed and whispers for Pao to forgive her, she didn’t mean to hurt him. He sleepily says she didn’t.

Me Declaro Culpable #24, 3/20/20: Where Were You When The Lights Went Out?
Aqua House of Hell
Gabe is back in the Snake Pit of Tia Ingrid's house but he has a plan. He'll encourage her to set a place for Papi Javier at the table. After all "he's always with her, so why not include him at dinner." She's all chuffed and happy that he understands. But alas, the little whelp goes a mite too far, and suggests she talk out loud to her brother. Ingrid smells a rat, makes him stand up and sure enough, the recording phone on his lap falls to the floor. She's on it like a panther. With hands of steel evidently, she destroys the phone-- literally rips it apart in seconds. Amazing.

Me Declaro Culpable #19, 3/13/20: The Wait is Over, There’s a KISS
The two Amazonas stop, in broad daylight, get the body of skinny Luciana out and rolled over into a pile of trash. Ingrid wants to hurry away. Bertie wants to say “goodbye” to her friend. She removes a fancy dinner ring Bertie had given her for her birthday awhile back to keep as a trophy. [Note to future forensic investigators: Will the ring be a key to identifying the killer? And what about Luciana’s shroud. I bet that could be traced back to the clinic.]

Me Declaro Culpable #18, 3/12/20: On the bright side Luciana won't have to worry about her diet anymore
A few observations: Do we know what the cause of death for Javier was? Because with the bald head they make it seem like it's cancer, but they also made it sound like Alzheimer's, but now we are being told his illness was a result of being poisoned by Ingrid. This is sloppy writing, how much access to him did Ingrid have that she could continue to poison him on a long term basis? What herb could cause you to lose your memories like he did? I'm confused, can anyone help me figure this out? Oooh also, because of the way in which he died wouldn't they have preformed an autopsy which would have revealed that he had been poisoned? This is a case for Forensic Files! Now to our recap:
We start the episode where we left off last night, Julian and Natalia are having a screaming match, Julian is getting a little too close for comfort and thankfully before things can get worse for Natalia Gael shows up and grabs Julian by the throat. I'm sitting on my couch cheering for Gael, I want blood! Sadly for me Natalia manages to get Gael to let go of Julian without further violence and I'm sad, someone needed to punch his lights out. I'm not violent, I swear. Julian slithers away but not before telling Natalia that "this isn't over".

Me Declaro Culpable #16, 3/10/20: Bed Heads
The "mysterious caller" goes on and on. And on. And on. Not only are there no peepholes in Alternate Mexico City, there are no kill switches either. Finally Alba flees in tears, followed by Franco, who tries to talk her down. You are innocent! I am guilty! I can't recognize my own wife's voice! Me neither! It all ends in an inappropriate hug as usual, inconveniently witnessed by Roberta through the glass door of the studio. If you're wondering QTH she could possibly be doing right there right then, join the rest of us. We will probably never know, because she does a 180 and disappears.
Casa Paolo:
Paolo and Katia are sharing fond memories on top of the bedclothes. She tries to kiss him and is rebuffed, which for some reason moves her to strip down to her Frederico's of Hollywood and announce, "I don't really expect anything to happen between us; I just want to be near you." Honey? If you're shoving that much cleavage under a guy's chin and he's still looking at you like he needs a Maalox, he's just not that into you.
Despacho Pro Bono:
Mauro has only just now noticed that no one ever comes to work anymore, especially "Juliancito," whose main client just dumped the firm because nobody was paying any attention to him. Where is the little toad, anyway? Olga blandly replies that perhaps something has happened to him. Mauro says he'd better hope something has, or something's gonna.

Me Declaro Culpable #14, 3/6/20: Guess Who is Coming to Dinner
Ensalada Interruptus
Alba has forgiven herself for misjudging Franco and the two are having a lawyer-client conversation complete with hand-fondling. They talk mainly about how Ingrid has turned Gabe against her and there’s nothing she can do about it. She doesn’t blame him, since of course she is an assassin. He rejects that notion. He does admit that hers is a difficult case, but they will prevail. He tells her not to lose faith. He asks her to go out for a salad as friends, not missing an opportunity to put his arm around her waist and then both hands on her shoulders. Olga, the secretary cum spy recruited by Bertie makes a call.
Bertie has just returned from her treatment at the hands of Dr. Luciana Matasanos, or in this case Metaesperma. She knows she must rest but promptly cuts her off when Olga’s call comes in, who passes on what she just observed. Alba and Franco have barely enjoyed a couple of bites and a couple of “looks” when a dark shadow passes in front of them. Bertie sidles up to the table. She explains she needed to talk to Franco and since he wasn’t in his office guessed he might be here. She’s quite civil, pleasant and offers apologies to Alba for interrupting. Alba jumps up from the table (it hard to say why—feeling guilty?), ceding her place to Bertie. Alba excuses herself and Bertie sits down. After some back and forth as to who deserves the salad, Franco tells her she can have his salad, too, and gets up and leaves telling her to enjoy. Bertie samples the broccoli.

Me Declaro Culpable #13, 3/5/20: Natalia Gets a Clue
The bombshell: Natalia learns the truth
Paolo sends Katia packing, later he and Natalia hang out (the editing in this novela is terrible) he tells her that he spent time with Katia but that he is not interested in her any more, the conversation then moves to Paolo being disappointed because there are so many things that he can no longer do. Natalia points out that while that may be true there are things that he can still do and asks him what else he would have wanted to do other than play soccer. He tells her he would have loved to be a race car driver (men!), Natalia tells him he can still do this and takes him out for a drive. And this folks is when things go sour, so so sour.
Natalia is in the passenger seat, she's not wearing a seatbelt- dumb bunny, and is helping guide Paolo's driving, they then arrive at the scene of Paolo's accident and that's when Natalia realizes that she was the person who ran over him, she has a mental breakdown and cancels the rest of their plans with some lame excuse about having to do something with her mom. Guys, she wants us to believe she wants to spend time with that nut ball, is nut ball one word or two?

Me Declaro Culpable #11, 3/3/20: Nuclear-Option Families
Mauro tells Ingrid the judge has ordered her to undergo a psych eval, and she goes all poor pitiful me on him. He has clearly never been all the way around the block, because he falls for it hook, line and wishful thinking. He swears he is willing to make his son-in-law his worst enemy...if it's for her. Gawd, what a dope.
Alba brings Franco a sexy salad in his moonlight office, and he insists they share it. I hope she at least brought two forks. She confesses she has to hang out for a while because she's temporarily turned the Coffee Shop into an AirBnB for a lovelorn "friend."
Roberta shows up hoping for a romantic round two but overhears Franco and Alba giggling behind the closed door. She ducks down and calls him, pretending that Natalia's having a crisis and needs him right now, as in RIGHT NOW. Super Dad flies out the door and Mommy Dearest flies in, grabbing fistfuls of Al's hair and calling her every name we've already heard and at least one we still haven't, because it was so bad it got bleeped out. Any lip-readers out there?

Me Declaro Culpable #7, 2/26/20: The plot thickens
Some scenes are combined, some glossed over. And if I misinterpreted any dialog, please correct it? Our characters were very busy today.
We open at with Natalia & Paolo at the park. She is doing a good job of walking in those 4-inch spike heels on the brick-paver/cobblestone path. Ah, to be young again. Her phone rings, and Paolo makes snarky comment that it's probably loverboy Julian. (it is)
Vile Julian tells Nat he has the phone number of the guy in Toronto who she H&Red (Hit and Ran) and encourages her to call the guy. While she is engrossed in her convo, Paolo leaves.
Alba apologizes to Ingrid for the chokehold (girl learned some life skills in prison that might serve her well, later on?). Ingrid rattles on that she never had a kid and doesn't know what that's like, but she has taken care of Gabe all his life and saw more of him than Alba has. Alba agrees, but I want my son. Now.
Gabe calls Alba pleading with her to get him out of Ingrid's Crazy House. He can't take it anymore. Alba says she will talk to the lawyer. (Awww, here is another excuse to see Franco)
Julian is coaching the fake "victim" on how to act and what to say when Natalia calls him. Dirtbag.

Me Declaro Culpable #6, 2/25/20: Screaming Meanies
Franco and Alba make an after-dark exit from the despacho. As he's handing her into the car to drive her back home -- i.e. the coffee shop, which is close enough for her to walk every morning with a fully laden coffee tray, but juarever -- he notices a flat tire. Turns out he doesn't know how to change a flat because all he ever does is hand porn and lawyer stuffs, so she does it for him. He calls her a little box o' surprises and grins goofily.
Meanwhile, Roberta is spying on them from her own parked car and just can't handle all that jack action. She hits the gas and tries to flatten Alba like a panqueque but only succeeds in pushing them into each other's arms. Well, so much for that plan.
Casa Urzua:
Julian is for some reason all alone in a house he doesn't live in, desperately trying to convince Nati over the phone not to turn herself in. She hangs up on him -- twice! -- and then refuses to answer his calls. He's just gotten out the requisite "no puede ser!" when Roberta crashes through the front door looking even more assymetrical than usual and starts chugging a bottle of whisky from the bar. They argue over who has the bigger problem, and of course Roberta wins because she's crazier. She peppers him with "sueltames" and "largates" and then runs upstairs and swallows the contents of every bottle on her nightstand.
Depa Duenas:
Ingrid flashes back to her brother's death scene, including a few small details we didn't know about. Apparently after Alba flipped the switch, she freaked out and switched it right back on again, but she was so overcome by grief and guilt and pretty tears that she didn't notice her husband was still alive. Ingrid rushed in screaming and chased her away, then very deliberately -- and permanently -- turned the machine back off. "Sorry, brother," she said. "I had to do it."

Me Declaro Culpable #5, 2/24/20: Three Hysterics and a Funeral
The breakfast chez Paolo is going badly. He's venting about the horrid person who hit him and left him for dead, as an anguished Natalia listens-- and gradually realizes she's the culprit who ruined his life. Way to kill the mood, Paolo, not to mention her appetite. He's all over himself apologizing and she's all over herself getting out of there. Seems there's an urgent errand she has to run for her dad. Leaving Paolo and the breakfast behind, she flees at top speed. And in such a hurry she leaves her cellphone behind. Pal Dante thinks it's a ploy. "Hey, just means she wants to see you again." Paolo's not so sure. He's afraid he blew it with his angry rant about the accident.
At the office, relationships are equally fraught. Roberta is fixing Alba with a death glare, and chastising her husband for representing a heartless lady who "unplugged" her husband. Alba wisely departs, while Roberta is merely ramping up with more. When Franco quietly points out the lady has none nothing to Robs to merit that treatment, she snarls "Oh yes she has! She's come between us!"
