Mi marido tiene familia Monday 9/11/17 Capítulo 15: Eugenio Has Good News

The episode starts off with a guitar playing a waltz that sounds like "La zandunga" which just happens to be from the state of Oaxaca where the novela takes place. On to the action!

Blanca's home--Ana comes to see Blanca and she is not doing well at all. Blanca asks if she is ill. No, she just has not been able to sleep because she is so afraid and feels so alone. Blanca notes that Ana is a woman that has practically everything. Ana disagrees: she has nothing. She has things but they cannot give her love. Her life has been hell. She feels so empty and that is what has caused her to commit so many mistakes. Blanca asks her what mistakes is she talking about. Ana has always been so angry not being able to have children Blanca knows how difficult that has been but Ana always has them to count on. Ana just thinks she is a miserable person. Blanca tells her how pretty, tender, kind she is and how she deserves so many good things. Ana disagrees telling Blanca she is much worse than she could even imagine. Ana relives in her mind taking Juan Pablo to the orphanage and just leaving him there telling the orphanage personnel she just couldn't keep him with her. Blanca tells her to just let it all out. She reassures Ana that she is her friend. Ana has always supported her. Does Ana think that Blanca would still be there if Ana had not been there for her? Ana tells her how good she is. Blanca says she is good, too, and that her husband does not deserve not even one her tears. At the end of the conversation, Blanca mentions Eugenio who won't even tell her why he is so nervous. Ana looks petrified.

Enamorándome de Ramón, #23, Sept. 11, 2017: The Raving Conscience of a Witch and a Snoop

Today's recap comes courtesy of RGV Chick. Thank you for your hard work!

Andrea and Jorge finish watching the video and are excited that it explains everything—from naming Juana the beneficiary to why the signature was so different. Andrea can’t wait to see her grandmother eat her words; and Jorge can’t wait to see his grandmother’s face when she see the video. Andrea wonders if the video will be sufficient to claim the insurance money and thinks it will at least serve to restore Juana’s honor. When they discuss who they should show it to first, they agree on Don Pedro, but when Jorge tries to call him, he doesn’t answer.

Suddenly, they hear HorHellia banging on the door and yelling at them to open it. In a panic, Jorge quickly takes the cassette out of the camera before they go open the door. HorHellia comes in with Virginia demanding to know where Fabiola is. When Jorge asks what’s going on, Virginia tells Jorge not to butt in and pulls him to leave; he drops the cassette, but quickly picks it up. They both leave Andrea to deal with the grandma from hell on her own. HorHellia demands to know what Jorge was doing there, but gets frustrated when Andrea doesn’t respond. HorHellia insists on staying there until Fabiola arrives then thinks Fabiola is with “that” mechanic and is appalled at how low this family has gone.

Enamorándome de Ramón #22; Friday September 8, 2017; Fabiola and Ramón become “Novios” (boyfriend/girlfriend) or The Truth Comes Out!

Andrea falls asleep with the home video on. At first what is on is another family party, but then it appears that Katy and Ricardo accidently left their video camera on record while they were discussing the life insurance policy. They go through the list of family whom they might consider being the beneficiary. The idea of Hortensia gets thrown out immediately by Ricardo because she doesn’t get along with their daughters plus is so controlling. So they both agree on Juana being the beneficiary of the insurance policy. They agreed that when the girls were old enough, they would change it to their daughters’ names. But anyway, they decided that they would not die. Ricardo signs his name, but makes a mistake on his signature. Katy says it’s good enough because to write over it would make it worse and that was it. Unfortunately Andrea slept through the whole thing!

La candidata Friday 9/8/17 Capítulo 61 Gran Final Parte 2 : The End----OR: A Day Late and a Dollar Short

Well, I have come full circle. When I heard that Caray was going to cover "La candidata" I watched the very last episode. The final scene of the last episode is what made me want to recap this novela. So, I am coming back to where I began and a very fine ride it has been.

Thank you to Urban, Alfredo, Anita, Cynthia, and Sandie for being a great recapping team to work with as well as all of the commenters and readers who stopped on by. All of you made this so much fun.

Campaign appearance--Regina's appearance is being held in front of the Monument to the Revolution. Regina arrives to the chants and cheers of the crowd. Escalante is there, too, when he gets a phone call from a very angry Gerardo shouting that he wants to see him. It is urgent. Escalante tells him he can't come because he is at an event. Gerardo demands to know with who. A drug trafficker? Who? Ignacio shouts at Gerardo to stop. Escalante's mood has changed and he surmises that Gerardo wants to play hardball. Gerardo better hope that nobody has listened to him so he doesn't have to suffer the consequences. Gerardo isn't afraid of Escalante's threats. Escalante calls him a fool and clarifies the situation: he does not threaten, he acts. Gerardo will see. Escalante hangs up.

She is very friendly to him and tells him she likes him, and Osvaldo likes her back and plats a kiss on her cheek, she looks at him funny, but thinks nothing of it. He leaves with a smile on his face (dirty little boy)

La Candidata, Capítulo 61; Thursday September 7, 2017: Grande Finale, Part 1

Previously, the last thing we heard at Casa Barcenas was a single gunshot and sirens in the background before the scene faded to dark. This episode begins with the SWAT team everywhere, reporters abound, and chaos seems to ensue. The only inside shot we see is what appears to be Noemi sitting on the floor with blood on her abdomen. Reporters do not know who has been shot. Was it Regina? Who? We see Cecelia coming through trying to find out what happened, but the police are not letting her through. We see a gurney being taken to a waiting ambulance. Finally we see Noemi walk out escorted by a paramedic. Finally, we see Regina walk out. Both appear shaken, have blood splatter, but safe and unharmed. Cecelia looks at Regina, closes her eyes as they tear up.

Upcoming Telenovelas: Stevey's Notes (Pt. III) – September 7, 2017

PART III – TELENOVELAS FARTHER OFF INTO THE FUTURE

PRODUCTION #9 - Nicandro Diaz, fresh from El Bienamado is apparently going to be doing a remake of famous telenovela from Colombia, Las Juanas, so named because it's a story about four women all named "Juana-(something)" à la Anas in TVA.

PRODUCTION #10 – José Alberto 'El Guero' Castro, who should be ashamed of himself for how little he did with a good story, great cast, and terrific setting in Vino el Amor, is hoping to try his luck with one of my favorite types of stories, that with an 'antagonist-protagonist' (think Teresa or Rubí but more evil).  The three classics he submitted to Lord High Ocampo were, apparently, La Sonrisa del Diablo, La Mujer de Judas, and, my favorite, El Angel Caido.  BUT... apparently she was having none of it, and told him that his last remakes have been, well, porquerias and fracasos and that he'd better find an original story to do, or he's off to the freezer to join Emilio Larrosa. So we'll have to wait and see what he comes up with.

La Candidata 9/6/17 Chapter 60: One, two, three, four deaths? And the resurrection of a Narco or Cecilia finds that all doors are now closed!

Thank you Urban for allowing me to be part of this recapping team. I feel a little sad that this TN is coming to an end but am completely thrilled with the fact that I got such an amazing episode. Also thank you to everyone who visited us on this patio, and a special thanks to Jarifa, Alfredo, Cynthia, Urban (again) and Anita for your amazing  contibutions to this Blog and La Candidata Recaps.

And now on to the recap......

Alonso chiding Emiliano, tells him

“Are you going to run to tell your mother so she can ruin your life, when it’s just beginning? “

“You have two options go to mommy or let me help you to get rid of this problem” (referring to Ximena’s pregnancy)

In his office Escalante sends goons to go get Lorena Sanchez, she is being held in her apartment.

Mario tries to convince Regina not to turn him in, he uses guilt.

Regina tells him “You think I wanted this situation, you leave me no options” to which he replies

“let me talk, you want the truth, then let me talk, you were born in gold crib, but I built that crib., when you are privileged you are able to talk about morals quite easily, but not me I was born in the worst of neighborhoods, where pain and violence live everyday with you, that is how my brother died, he was very sick he could not get a surgery because of lack of money.  My friends and I were always sick, because there was no potable water, no food.”

Upcoming Telenovelas: Stevey's Notes (Pt. IIB) – September 6, 2017

PART IIB – TELENOVELAS IN THE NEAR FUTURE
Here we go with the rest of the telenovelas that are now in production.

PRODUCTION #6 – ME DECLARO CULPABLE   PRODUCER: ANGELLI NESMA MEDINA
**No broadcast date for Mexico announced yet, but in production.**
I'm excited about THIS story!! The name 'Univision' is already being associated with this production (i.e. a 'Televisa/Univision' production). You guys might be surprised to hear there is one country that isn't Brazil (or, of course, Mexico) that has produced some really terrific novelas, most especially in the new millennium. Indeed the number of productions that have been produced in Mexico that were actually remakes of Argentinian originals is really quite staggering, including some that I think a lot of people would consider so intrinsically Mexican so as to be a part of the culture and country (Simplemente Maria is the one that comes most immediately to mind), as well as some very prominent or popular novelas from closer to our time (such as Amores Verdaderos, Alma de Hierro, Rebelde, Muchacha Italiana Viene a Casarse, Una Familia con Suerte, Un Gancho al Corazon, and I could go on).  This decade, especially, I don't know how or why, but Argentina has come out with telenovelas that are absolutely Awesome (you'll please note that's capital “A'' awesome), and a true credit to the genre. Giselle Gonzalez's next project is a remake of a recent Argentinian telenovela and so is this one of Angelli Nesma Medina.

Enamorandome De Ramon, 9/6/17 Chapter 20: Hortensia the Horrible Hatches new plan to get rid of Ramon

Repeated scene: Luisa and Juana are talking about the trouble it would bring to them if the witch AKA Hortensia found out that Juana and Fabi were dating, if they were dating. Nosy Dalia is listening when she hears Juana say that if it was between Fabi and Dalia she would prefer Dalia (fewer problems). Dalia thanks her lucky stars.

New Scenes: Dalia does not hear when Juana says if she had no choice Dalia would be it, but the best would be for Juan to find someone completely different. She says that if Dalia and Juan got together and they had problems their friendship (Luisa and Juana’s) would suffer. They agree to try to avoid having problems in that case.

La Candidata Martes 9/5/17 Chapter 59: Confrontation

Chapter 59: Confrontation

Confrontation is something many people fear and avoid. Usually it accomplishes more than it destroys but there are many who are destroyed not by what they discover about others but about what they discover about themselves. This is what many people in power truly fear because there is often no worse exposure than the one to oneself.

Mauro called for an ambulance and an emergency medical team. He was almost in a state of panic.

Upcoming Telenovelas: Stevey's Notes (Pt. IIA) – September 5, 2017

PART IIA – UPCOMING TELENOVELAS NEARLY HERE (OR ALREADY HERE)
Let's hope for the best for the future of our telenovela world. Without further ado, let's let Stevey get to the productions themselves! Now, again, these are all TELEVISA productions. Which of these will actually get broadcast in the U.S. or when, is anybody's guess, but if he has ANY further information as to “yea” or “nay,” he will make sure to note it in his summaries. Here he goes!  :-)

PRODUCTION #1 – MI MARIDO TIENE FAMILIA   PRODUCER: JUAN OSORIO
**Mexican debut was on June 5, 2017.** Currently broadcasting on Univision, but I had this written before it started airing, so please indulge me, okay?
First off, I have to confess that I can't stand Juan Osorio. I think he's a megalomaniacal idiot living off of his past successes, who patronizes his viewing audience more than he does anything else by not offering anything of any depth or real quality, just his dancing spawn Emilio (the product of his liaison with the BSC Niurka Marcos, a woman who had her own talk show where she interviewed her guests in a hot tub, and whose general classlessness is almost impressive in its absoluteness—and who appeared as herself in Mi Corazon es Tuyo), ad nauseam (you'll have to forgive me here as I deplore nepotism). In talks about his next production, the currently airing Mi Marido Tiene Familia, Osorio went off on this screed about the genre and the deplorable direction that telenovelas were going. He decried productions in the vein of La Piloto and, well, pretty much anything that Telemundo is airing, really, for being all about drugs, violence, random killings, and generally speaking, not-nice things, CERTAINLY NOT what should be on television during “family hour.” He said HIS production was designed to take the genre back to where he (being all-knowing, life-giving, all-powerful, and all that stuff) feels it should belong, and away from things like gratuitous S&M scenes and torture (as was depicted recently in Sueño de Amor, produced by…uh…oh…wait for it…YOU, Sr. Osorio…hypocrite much?).

Mi marido tiene familia Monday 9/4/17 Capítulo 10: Too Much Tequila

The bar: Blanca and her sisters Belén and Linda continue their tequila shots. They are all tipsy at this point especially Blanca. Blanca is is telling the story of what happened at the marketplace so many years ago. The pain was so bad that she didn't know when she left her little boy go. She kept calling for him as strangers took her to the hospital. She accepts that what happened was her and her son's destiny. Yes, destiny can be that cruel. Blanca thinks back again to the hospital how after her baby was born she was still asking for her son. She struggled to leave her hospital room to go looking for her Juan Pablo or at least to find a phone but the nurses held her back. After all this time, Blanca still feels so responsible even though her sisters remind her that she fainted in the middle of it all. Her sisters say she was not guilty of anything. Blanca is now sobbing. Amalia thinks it is time to ask for the check. Belén orders another bottle instead and yes! she will pay for it. Belén asks Blanca about maybe having a symbolic type of funeral with a gravesite at the cemetery so she could visit Juan Pablo. That just starts a drunk Blanca sobbing again but then she agrees slurringly that at least she would have a place to go and cry. After making another toast Blanca decides they should all sing. She needs to sing and smile but then she starts sobbing. She imitates her dance instructor laughs, sobs and has another shot. The sisters start to sing.

Imelda's house--Imelda is on the phone with Ana who stopped by to see her earlier but she wasn't in. Ana tells her that Tulio her son is at home. Does Imelda want to talk to him? Imelda insists on going over to Ana's to see Tulio. She wants Ana to send her driver for her and not tell her son she is coming. She wants to see if he will even remember who she is. Ana asks if she is sure. Imelda says she can always take a taxi. Ana looks upset.

Enamorándome de Ramón, #19, Sept. 4, 2017: The Kiss That Almost Was

Here is the recap, courtesy of RGVChick:

Some scenes combined for continuity

[Previously: As Ramón approaches, Fabiola runs to him and gives him a big hug, but he stands firm with a serious look. Fabiola’s mood turns somber when Ramón confides that he has come to resign from his job.] Despite Fabiola’s efforts to convince him that he needs to stay because she already lost Juana and doesn’t want to lose him too, Ramón is adamant that he must leave his job for fear of causing more problems…and his mother asked him to. There have been too many problems and they know Hortensia won’t let up. Fabiola fears that Juana won’t see her either and thinks it unfair. She is disappointed that they’re giving up. Even though Fabiola asks him not to leave if he cares for her, Ramón is still apprehensive about the possibility that Hortensia will show up at the shop and have him sent to jail. When Fabiola sees that Ramón is not budging, she pleads with him to stay because they will be down a mechanic and he will be hard to replace. This makes Ramón wonder if it’s Fabiola or the “owner” who is asking him to stay, but Fabiola assures him it is both; nevertheless, Ramón says “no” to both and walks off to go talk to Antonio. Refusing to be defeated, Fabiola quickly texts Antonio warning him that Ramón wants to leave and asks him to please not let Ramón go.

La Candidata 9.4.17 Chapter 58: Who Will Survive and What Will Become of Them?

Hey all! This is my final recap for this novela and I wanted to say a few words to those who were with us every step of the way.

First, I’d like to thank my fellow recappers, Sandie, Cynthia, Anita, Jarifa, and our leader, Urban. You are all amazing and talented people and our team was stronger for it. We battled some crazy scheduling (I couldn’t have remained sane without your help) but we came out stronger on the other side.

To our faithful commentors, SpanProf, Lynette, Loriloo, Steve, and many others, I thank you for taking the time to leave behind words of encouragement for now and the future about this twisty tale. It’s you guys we do this for and it’s a gift to have found so many kind people to share it with.

Please know that this patio was very special to me and I hope to see all of your again very soon (hopefully another Giselle Gonzalez production)

_________________________________________________________________________________
Regina now knows that Noemi was telling the truth and Cecelia is, in fact, her sister but Cecelia tells her that Noemi barely knows 10% of the truth. Gerardo tells Regina that he came to tell her this but Cecelia stops him because only she can tell Regina the truth. Cecelia confesses that she has known Regina is her sister, her whole life, and she feels relieved because she finally told her the truth. Regina reminds her that she slept with Alonso and Emiliano, whilst knowing she was her sister, but Cecelia explains that she was able to do it because she hates her. In fact, she reminds herself how much she hates Regina and that has given her the strength to do what she has done and she can do a lot more. Regina asks her to leave but Cecelia refuses and tells Regina that she is not better than her because they are sisters and that means they are the same, no matter how much she denies it. Gerardo tries to get Cecelia to leave and screams for Daniela to call a doctor, as Cecelia doesn’t look well, but Cecelia announces that she’s good and they aren’t calling anyone. She stands in front of the door and blocks their way.

Upcoming Telenovelas: Stevey Weighs In (Pt.I) - September 3, 2017

This Post comes from our beloved commentator Stevey, observer of all things telenovela, which fits right into all things CarayCaray. His discourse will be posted in three parts over several days: Part I—Behind the Scenes at Televisa (a must read, in my opinion); Part II—Upcoming Telenovelas (some sooner than you think); Part III—Telenovelas Farther Off in the Future (or never). Be advised the opinions expressed in this post are entirely Stevey’s and not necessarily those of the CarayCaray blog.

Note of caution: some of the narrative in Part II especially, contains information that could be considered spoilers, so use caution if you don’t want to read too far ahead (Anita has marked tell-tale storylines with a à.)

PART I - BEHIND THE SCENES AT TELEVISA

Hi everybody! First off, I'm SO sorry that this has been so unconscionably late in getting to you all (Stupid life! Slow DOWN a bit now and then, will ya??), but I really never DID forget about you, and I've actually been working on this for quite some time now (as you will, undoubtedly see), both as a result of my own loquaciousness (read: long-windedness, not knowing when to stop or shut up, etc.), as well as the fact that these situations are always constantly evolving, or at least changing. I also always want to make sure as much as I can, that anything I put out there for you guys is actually a verified FACT (no 'Fake News' here!), HOPEFULLY by contacts within the network, but if not, through viable sources, and this sometimes isn't always that easy to come by. There's actually been all kinds of network drama going on over at Televisa in regards to telenovelas, an inordinate amount, really…lots of unhappy actors, and a lot of producers gnashing their teeth and clutching their 'stress balls' more tightly than usual.  But I hope you'll enjoy what I've got for you all.

(Note: For anyone not interested in these things, wait for Part II – Upcoming Telenovelas, where I actually talk about the upcoming telenovelas.)

La candidata Friday 9/1/17 Capítulo 57: Mario Asks Cecilia for Help--OR-- El Cuervo Has a Good Laugh--OR--El Chulo Is Not Just Another Pretty Face

A deserted alley--El Chulo asks if Alonso wants it all to end like this. He doesn't understand why Alonso thinks he is betraying him. Alonso makes money from his businesses. Alonso is angry that Gerardo is about to get out of jail. Somebody, and he doesn't know who, made a move. El Chulo swears it wasn't him. So, who did? El Chulo doesn't know and doesn't want to know. He is interested in making money and not politics. He tells Alonso that he can ask Escalante to verify that fact. Alonso asks what Escalante has to do with this. El Chulo smirks and states that Escalante is behind the finances and reminds him that Escalante is the public face of his money laundering business. Alonso concludes that Escalante is behind it all. El Chulo says he always has been. El Chulo quickly pulls his pistol and asks if they are going to get back to business or what. Alonso gives the sign and all the weapons are lowered and put away. The stand-off is over. El Chulo is still smirking.

Gerardo's Jail Cell--El Cuervo is giving Gerardo his money's worth filling him in on Mario and his prostitution/extortion business. Mario has an associate: Isela owns a cabaret where the girls come from. El Cuervo worked for them. Gerardo adds that Mrs. Barcenas discovered that he was selling protection to them. Yes, but he didn't end up with much money because it is an organization and the money ended up getting divided up just like here in the jail. El Cuervo has something to confess. Before killing Pacheco, he had information that if sold to him was going to make him a millionaire. The information was about Mario's dirty businesses with the most important fact being that Mario was Cecilia's father and Isela her mother.

La Candidata, Thursday 8/31/17 Chapter 56: Regina Learns She Has a Sister and Who She Is

Repasando lo de ayer
In his office, Alonso learns from Magda of Omar’s accident. She promises to call the hospital for an update. Marcia runs in, breathless, to tell Al she knows exactly what happened to Don Omar. Magda leaves them. Mario arrives at the government offices and also wants to see Alonso, but Mauro stops him since he is busy with one of Mario’s “girls.” Mario is startled that Mauro knows about his prostitution ring. They start a game of one-upmanship daring each to reveal the other’s secrets to Alonso—especially the one about Cecelia being Mario’s daughter and the other about Mauro’s sexual preference. Mario backs down as Mauro urges them to go tell Alonso right then and there.

At the prison hospital, a hand passes money to a guard and some prisoner passes in to stand by a sleeping Gerardo. It’s El Cuervo, the dirty policeman who shot Pacheco (who later died).

Noemi is ready to tell Regina the truth about her father’s other family, one he’s had for a long time. Regina chalks it up to her being soused.

Recontando lo de hoy
Alonso’s Office – Marcia declares that Natalia pushed Omar down the stairs. Alonso doesn’t buy her story. He says right to her face that just because they had a couple of rolls in the hay she’s to be believed? How could she be that stupid, she’s nothing but trash. He tells her to disappear. She claims she was only trying to help Omar through the betrayal by Alonso’s mother. Al’s ire rises at the mention of his mother and would probably have strangled Marcia if Cecelia hadn’t interrupted. Al tells Cece to get her out of there and maybe get her a job at their mother’s cabaret. Marcia screams in defiance, but Cece drags her out.

Enamorandome de Ramon #18 8.31.17: Restraining Orders and Third Wheels

Memories are in italics.

Hortensia chides Juana for even comparing Ricardo with Ramon, especially because Ricardo will never come back, but Juana reminds her that taking away her son will not bring back hers. Either way, she’s done trying to reason with her. Hortensia thinks it’s good she has learned her lesson and hopes Juana stops being so stubborn in the future. Juana hopes she never needs compassion from anyone in the future and leaves. Once they’ve closed the door, Margarita chides Hortensia for her actions and tells her, while she may not be lying, she has been trying to destroy Juana for some time and now Ramon will pay the price. Hortensia tells her that Juana needs to know who’s boss and Margarita congratulates her because Juana will go back to Fabiola and Andrea and tell her the “kind and human” person she is. She hopes Hortensia doesn’t regret her actions but she better not be surprised if her granddaughters see her on the street, in need of help, and don’t even bother looking her way.

Enamorandome de Ramon #17 8.30.17: False Testimonies and Love Confessions

Hortensia vows to put Ramon in jail and hopes Julio will help her out. Julio suggests she call Margarita, since she’s a lawyer, but Hortensia knows Margarita would not help; she hopes someone at the police station will help her out. Fabiola comes and chides her for reporting Ramon, who could spend up to 3 years in jail, but she doesn’t care. A policeman comes and escorts Hortensia to a room to make her statement. Fabiola asks Julio what is wrong with Hortensia that she’s being so cruel to Ramon.

Porfirio goes to dinner with Margarita, who is chugging down a glass of wine. He orders another round and she comments on how drunk they will be if they keep drinking. Porfirio doesn’t mind as he’s in the mood to celebrate, especially now that they have rid themselves of Hortensia, who has decided to get another lawyer to represent her. Porfirio gets serious and asks Margarita about their relationship. He wants to know if there are more than friends and asks if she’s ever thought about them as a couple. Margarita thinks they make a great couple at work and grabs his arm. Porfirio smiles and tells her she’s the best partner at work and goes in to kiss her but Margarita turns away. She begs him not to ruin their friendship over a night of heavy drinking. Porfirio smiles, sadly.

Enamorándome de Ramón, #15, Aug. 28, 2017: A Dream, a Score, and a Truce…Just between Friends

Here is the recap, courtesy of RGVChick:

[Previously: Juana and Jorge are in the waiting room while Andrea is in with the doctor. Juana tells Jorge about the appointment that has been set for 5:00 p.m. When Andrea comes out from her session, Jorge worries that she has been crying. The doctor reports that Andrea seemed to remember something, but when she came to, she couldn’t remember (does this doctor not practice confidentiality?). The doctor asks to talk to either Juana or Jorge, so Juana goes in.

Julio is in his office when he gets a call from Noe Manujar who reminds him about his deadline to pay up. Julio is agitated that the man called and tells him it was not necessary. He hangs up and lets his anger out on the phone.

Back at the doctor’s office, the doctor tells Juana that he was surprised how quickly Andrea was able to relax enough to be hypnotized. After asking her some questions about her parents, he wrote down some words (book, ya que?, architecture, Paris) that Andrea mouthed when she was under and asks Juana if they have any significance. The only ones Juana commented on were architecture and Paris. The doctor sees no relationship between the words, so he tells Juana that it’s like a puzzle…it’ll take time (ya think?).

Gerardo and Regina stops kissing and she notices something (or someone) moving in the distance. Ochoa hides behind a tree as Regina and Gerardo looks around.

Alonso runs outside Omar’s house and demands Ochoa stand down. Ochoa tells him he will not and Alonso orders him to watch and report, only.

Hernan reminds Cecelia that Teresa is not to be trusted. Cecelia tells one of the makeup artists to stop covering the bruises and then asks Hernan why he says that. He doesn’t get a chance to respond as the program is about to start. Once alone, Cecelia calls Alonso and asks him to turn on the program and smiles.

La candidata Friday 8/25/17 Capítulo 52 Teresa Accuses Gerardo--OR--- R-E-S-P-E-C-T

Alonso's office--Alonso convinces Teresa there are smarter ways of getting rid of people than just killing them. For example, there is the case of her husband. Alonso wants to see Gerardo bereft of everything that matters to him in his life: his profession, his daughter, and his wife (Regina). Teresa is liking what she is hearing. Alonso wants to see Gerardo lose the will to live. Teresa is willing to help Alonso achieve this. Alonso tells her to come back and see him when she has something they can use against Gerardo.

Mauro's office--Mauro is still overwhelmed by anger with Cecilia right behind him wanting to know what happened. She heard Alonso swearing at him as he was leaving. Mauro explodes. It all comes down to that fact that Mauro took a few pesos, out of all the money Alonso steals, for himself. What is more is that it is Mauro who does the dirty work, always at risk and never getting recognized or rewarded. Mauro is not about to calm down. Alonso is making a mistake with him. He is going to get tired of Alonso and his filth and then Alonso will be kneeling in front of him and begging him for help. Cecilia goes to touch Mauro on the shoulder. He shakes her off and storms out.

A major revelation Mi Marido Tiene Familia #4 08/24/17

I was going to post this on the comments section of the other post but it's so hard to type in that small space, enjoy the recap!

This guy is a fake:

So tonight's episode made it very clear that the dude that's claiming to be the long lost Juan Pablo is a fraud. He is faking his injury and is trying to worm his way into Blanca's life. Robert actually witnesses this guy faking his injury but when he tells Julieta about it she tells hm that the people next door are weird and that he should stay out of it and not go looking for trouble.

Ana is a nut case:

In a major revelation we learn that Juan Pablo did not wander off and get lost at the market. Nope, instead we learn that Ana, sister in law to Blanca took the child and dropped him off at an orphanage, everyone assumed she was the child's mother, probably because little Juan Pablo ran towards the orphanage door and began to scream that he wanted his mom. We don't know why she did this, we do know she can't have children and that she's very close to her mother in law, who adored Juan Pablo, so maybe she did it out of jealousy? My money is on her just being bat *ish crazy.

La Candidata, Capítulo 51; Thursday August 24, 2017: Teresa asks Alonso to kill Gerardo

We begin where we left off at the end of episode 50, Regina walking up the stairs to the hospital for her meeting and Teresa trying to forcefully grab Regina. “Don’t touch me!” says Regina and tries to shoo Teresa away. After Teresa skillfully fell down the steps, Regina and a couple others try to run and help her up. She is not hurt, puts on a big scene, and doesn’t look any worse for the wear. (Oh darn! Not even a scraped knee!) “Stop treating me like an invalid!” She looks hatefully at Regina and then says, “If I lose my baby…” and she storms off.

She storms off as Ramon looks at her.

Fabiola walks into the office and Dalia offers her congratulations. Fabiola demands to know if she’s also going to give her “some advice” because Ramon already have her plenty: he thinks she’s only going to be a useless housewife if she gets married. Dalia smiles and tells her to ignore Ramon because Francisco is a catch. In fact, she’s lucky to have a man that won’t make her work. Fabiola shakes her head, goes into her office, and slams the door. Dalia rolls her eyes at the whole spectacle.

Hortensia incessantly rings the doorbell to the Antonio’s apartment to no avail. Enamorandome de Ramon #12 8.23.17: Bandaged Ankles and Marriage Proposals

• Fabiola, distracted by Ramon’s chiseled abs, steps in a hole and hurts her ankle. Ramon, ever the savior, picks her up and takes her inside the office at the mechanic shop. He sits her down on Dalia’s desk and asks her to move the ankle around. She thinks it’s broken but he explains that she wouldn’t be able bear the pain it if was though Fabiola is doubtful. He suggests she ask Francisco, since he’s a doctor, but Fabiola believes him. Ramon offers to bandage the leg up and goes to get a first aid kit.
• Andrea leaves for school, sans Jorge, much to Juana’s surprise. Once she leaves, Julio comes and asks Juana about his nieces. They are both out but he wanted to know if they needed money. Juana explains that they have the money from the airline, for now, and Julio asks if they can have a coffee and talk. Juana doesn’t think it’s a good idea and Julio takes the hint, though he’s mildly surprised. Once alone, Juana thinks she made the best choice and goes about her day.
• Ramon begins to bandage Fabiola’s ankle but she complains about the pain. He thinks about when he bandaged Sofia’s leg but Fabiola brings him back to reality. He tells Fabiola that she should be okay, especially with the pill she took, but she needs to be careful. Fabiola nods and he goes back to work but not before he gives Fabiola the same blessing as his mother whenever they are hurt, at her request.

Enamorandome de Ramon #11, 8.22.17: Fabiola defends Ramon, and Uses her Secret Weapon

Repeated scene (just because I like to see a good landing): Ramon lands a good right punch on Francisco (Pancho) after he said that he is able to be friends with anyone including his colleagues as well as the “Maid’s” son.

Fabiola is shocked and jumps in front of Pancho to yell at Ramon. Ramon sates that he did it because of the way Pancho belittled him. Pancho tells him things will not end here. Ramon tells him go ahead have me fired, he then tells Dalia it’s time to leave, and they leave.

Outside the shop Dalia tells Ramon that Pancho deserved that and more, but she doesn’t want him to lose his job. Ramon could care less; he can always find another job.

Fabiola tells Pancho that she does not agree with Ramon Punching Ponch but Pancho did insult Ramon with the things he said.  Pancho tells her to fire Ramon, but she can’t her uncle is in charge.

Enamorándome de Ramón, #10, Aug. 21, 2017: The Breathless and the Beaten

Here is the recap, courtesy of RGVChick :)

[Previously: After Ramón arrives, he listens as Fabiola tells Juana that she is going to prove to everyone how responsible she can be. Fit to be tied, Ramón calls her on it and asks for how long…just long enough for his mother to turn over the million pesos? When Fabiola questions what’s wrong with him, Ramón reveals that he overheard her little plan to work just until she can convince Juana that she is worthy of handling the money.] Francisco chimes in and asks Ramón, “Who do you think you are?” to which Ramón replies, “Juana’s son! The one they want to fool so they can get the money!” Juana asks Fabiola to confirm what Ramón stated; and when Fabiola doesn’t respond, she looks questioningly at Andrea, then Fabiola. Juana takes Fabiola into the kitchen so they can talk privately. While they’re in the kitchen, Ramón and Francisco get into it. Francisco doesn’t want Ramón to defy his girlfriend, but Ramón refuses to allow anyone to mess with his mother…or Francisco will truly know who Ramón is. When Ramón sees Andrea hold back Francisco and motion him to stop, he backs off and apologizes to Andrea saying that he has no reason to be arguing with the Francisco in her house. Andrea nods.

Enamorándome de Ramon, Capítulo 9; Friday, August 18, 2017: Fabiola and Ramón get to work together!

We left off yesterday with Fabiola announcing to Ramón that she is the owner and wants to know what he is doing there. Ramón is a bit confused and turns to Dalia and says, “Why didn’t you tell me this?” So Fabiola goes on to explain that since her father passed away, she is taking his place. As she is throwing her weight around, her uncle Antonio comes up and wants to know what is going on.
Dalia explains that she was talking to Ramón about the mechanic job there when Fabiola so rudely interrupted and said that she was the new boss. Antonio turns to Fabiola and Fabi tries to explain that her father left his half of the business to her and Andrea. Antonio says, “No one is saying anything to the contrary. But first we need to discuss this.” He takes her aside so they can talk elsewhere. Ramón then turns to Dalia and says that maybe he can find work somewhere else, but she pleads with him to wait and find out what Antonio has to say first. Obviously no one seems to like it how Fabiola just muscled her way into the situation without notice.

La candidata Friday 8/18/17 Capítulo 49: An Attempt is Made on Emiliano's Life--OR--When Does a Death Threat Become Just an "Expression"?

Outside of Regina's office--Lorena is leaving. Mario happens to see Lorena and asks Daniela what that woman was doing there. Daniela tells him she wanted to see Regina and adds that Lorena has no shame. In no time flat, Mario is on the phone to one of his goon-guards and tells him that Lorena is leaving the building. He wants her followed and wants to know about all of her movements.

At Regina's/Alonso's House--Alonso has awakened a beast in Regina with his threat. She is over the top and rightfully so. She did not know that he was capable of killing her. Alonso tries to write it off in his usual arrogant casual way by saying it was just an "expression". Regina is not buying it. She invites him to kill her right then and there. She is not afraid. A completely exasperated Alonso goes on about her scaring Emiliano with jail and how he would never survive a place like that. She needs to realize that. He is begging her. She asks if he is trying to convince her. Of course he is! Is he trying to improve things between them by threatening to kill her? She doesn't know what is happening to him.

Mauro's office--Sandoval, Regina's lawyer, is visiting with Mauro. The lawyer makes it clear that he will not be treated as "second class" to anyone. A pay-off won't do it. If Alonso makes him the minister of the Supreme Court of the land the day he takes office, he can count on his assistance. Mauro tells him that will be impossible. Well, it will also be impossible for Sandoval then to stop advising Regina.

La Doble Vida de Estela Carrillo (LDVDEC) #71 (Part 2) 8.18.17: All Well's That Ends Well (Barely)...

At the risk of sounding too much like our dearly beloved Regia, I want to say a few words as this tale draws to a close, for some, myself included.

I want to thank Diana, Susanlynn and Kirby for getting this patio going over at Vino as I had no plans to watch Doble Vida but ended up doing so because of you three. It has been a fun ride and I loved how great the story and patio turned out to be, despite my initial reservations.

I also to thank Vivi, who provided the first recap for us. You are solely missed and hope you come back soon 😊.

Julie, RGVChick, and Adriana, thank you so much for your help recapping this novela and a big thank you to Julie, for recapping three to four nights in my absence. Anita, thank you as well for your guest recaps, they were wonderful. In case, some of you didn’t know, this was RGV’s first recapping duty and she knocked it out of the park, no? 😉 Adriana, you have your own little Paloma but you took the time during your busy schedule to help us out any way you could. Thank you.

And finally, thank you to the loyal commentors and followers in this patio. None of this would be possible (or as enjoyable) without you. I thank you all for your kind words, insightful comments and logical deductions (which was solely lacking in DV). See you in the next one! :D

Now, without further ado, Barfest Part 2 (aka El Grand Final!)

Weekend Discussion: Karmegeddon in the Capital: La Candidata

Throughout history there have been many career politicians since Roman times. Some become such because of a need to serve their people and others only for the power it gives them. They often visit the same sick need for power over the people in their private lives.

Those who abuse the trust of the people deserve the worst punishment available. The only problem is that sometimes it is difficult to determine what that is: Should sociopaths like these be executed, locked away, or is there a worse fate in our time?  I ask you all:

What do you think the writers have done to them and –
If you could decide their fate, what would it be?

Dead Men Rising

[Repeated Scene: Ryan brings good news to Laura—there is nothing left to connect her to the money laundering at Furia. Laura is relieved and gives Ryan a nice long hug. Their little celebration quickly gets stifled when the official comes in and tells them they have found five badly decomposed bodies on her property.] Rosario and Luisa, who have been standing close by are shocked and listen as Laura states that it must have happened before they moved in. The official advises them that the forensic team will need to complete their investigation. Ryan believes that Danilow must have been responsible since he lived there before and urges the investigator to go after him, but the official tells them that his division is responsible for the investigation, but they must wait for the forensic team to identify the bodies. When Luisa asks if they are safe or in danger, he tells them everything looks to be in order so they shouldn’t have to worry (with five dead spirits roaming outside the door). When the official advises Laura that she will have to make a statement, Laura agrees. Rosario is appalled that they have been living so close to dead bodies.

At Hortencia’s house she continues pressing Porfirio to fight to get money from insurance company away from “that woman”. Porfirio insists that he needs time to study different alternatives. Hortencia tells him that there is no time because the insurance company will be giving the money to Juana at any moment. He says he will to their attorney La Madura (Pedro). She warns him to be careful because Pedro is totally on the side of the maid. Phone rings, and Hortencia goes to answer it. Margarita takes this opportunity to tell Porfirio that he is not doing what he said he would do, and that was to tell Hortencia that there was no way to get the insurance company to give them the money. Porfirio takes the defensive and tells her that Hortencia is stubborn. If he does not help her she will look for another attorney and this will never end.

Ramon continues to cry and is devastated but decides that something had to make Sofia change her mind all of a sudden.  He gets up and decides to go find her, he runs the way she had gone and sees her get into the car with Jacinto. He just stands there watching them leave.

Or Another Bun Bites the Dust

Even though Luisa is there to protect her, Asdrubal manages to get close enough to Laura to hand her a note and run away, though Luisa doesn’t even try to catch him. Instead, she tells Laura that she has someone waiting for her in the dressing room and leaves her alone (!!!). Laura opens the note and reads.

Later, Ryan welcomes Laura to her dressing room with a bouquet of roses (which are part of his long road to forgiveness) as Paloma and Rosario come in and congratulate Laura. As Ryan congratulates her too, Genesis comes and tells them that the Producer Award Show will be cancelled because they don’t have a venue. She suggests they try to host it in Los Primos and Ryan promises to make it happen (maybe he will finally uphold one of his promises).

Enamorandome de Ramón, #5, Aug. 14, 2017: Hortenacious Gets A Flicker While Hearts Afire Get Burned

Here is the recap, courtesy of RGVChick:

[Repeated scene: Juana lashes at Hortensia that she has no right to run her off, but Hortensia can’t wait to tell her granddaughters what Juana is doing here. Hortensia blasts away telling Fabiola and Andrea that they need to run Juana off. Fabiola doesn’t understand why, so Hortensia explains that no one knows what schemes Juana used to bamboozle her father and now she’s setting her eyes on Julio.] Hortensia alerts them to the fact that Julio was there and they didn’t even know it. Juana tries to explain that Julio was only there to see how the girls were doing, but Fabiola questions why Juana didn’t tell them. Juana clarifies that they were still asleep and she didn’t want to wake them. She points out that she only offered Julio a cup of coffee, just as she would when her bosses were alive. After Hortensia chides Juana for running the house as if it were her own and orders her to get her things and leave, Fabiola stands up for Juana and tells Hortensia that they have their differences, but Juana need not leave just because she offered Julio breakfast. Hortensia can’t accept that Fabiola is allowing Juana to run the house as if it were her own, so Fabiola notes that it’s not the first time someone comes to the house without them knowing. Hortensia is chagrined that Juana already has fooled the girls and warns them that they have no idea what Juana is capable of doing to them.

La Doble Vida de Estela Carrillo, #68, Mon Aug 14, 2017: Someday a Real Rain Will Come and Wash All This Scum off the Streets

Alt title: Pennies from Heaven

BunMan holds a gun on Estela and says he couldn't wait for her to spring him out of the pokey because someone tried to kill him. "Why aren't you glad to see me? Did you forget our promise to be together forever?" She answers that he broke that promise when he tried to kill her.

Flashback! Estela and BunMan are at the chapel, dressed for a wedding. He warns that the police are getting close to finding El Dorado. She's going to let Ryan think she escaped from El Dorado. BunMan asks what she will say when Ryan asks who El D is; Estela waves this off impatiently, but obviously doesn't have a plan. She tells BunMan to get out of there before Ryan arrives and calls the police.

But BunMan doesn't want to leave. "I might not see you again." Estela dismisses this; she'll go looking for him later. It might be a good idea to wait for a while, though. BunMan asks if she's taking that trip with Ryan after all. Exasperated, she tells BunMan to go so she can call Ryan.

She takes out her phone - whoa, does her wedding gown have pockets? - and calls Ryan. (We shouldn't be able to see Ryan and Laura with their car in Estela's flashback, but we do.) Estela whines that she's escaped from El Dorado. BunMan looks on with growing anger as she sweet-talks Ryan and asks him to pick her up so they can be together. He grabs her, and they struggle briefly before the call is cut off.

Mauro wants to know if she will betray Alonso but Cecelia confesses that her plan with Hernan involves Isela and he shouldn’t tell Alonso, under any circumstances. Mauro demands she start talking or he will tell Alonso.

Regina believes Alonso is planning something because he would never give up his candidacy. Daniela reminds her that Alonso wanted to win his family back but Regina is doubtful because the presidency is his life’s work. La doble vida de Estela Carillo, #67, Friday, 08/11/17 Is Ryan very smart or just a sickening kind of stupid?

Since I have no way of knowing the differences between the Uni and the Mexico version, I'll just recap everything that I saw (I think it's the original episode that aired).
My thoughts about Ryan are in italics.
Estela and Ryan are reminiscing about their plan to go to a Paradise Island in Brasil back in the day. She is laying it on very thick, diabetes patients be warned: nobody ever loved her like he did, nobody ever made her feel like he did etc etc...
Ryan flinches - did she ever fall for ED?
No, never, he held her captive, how could she when all she dreamed about was to return to him. Ryan can't help but think about it, but the accusation makes her furious, she'd like to forget all about it. Ryan doesn't understand, since just days before she was scared out of her mind. Yes, but staying scared won't help her heal, she needs to move forward.
Kissy faces, but Ryan rejects her eventually, saying that passion is all good and swell, but this time around he won't do the same mistake, he wants something that lasts. So off to bed he goes. No sex for Estella tonight.
(Is the guy playing a long con, or is he just that gullible?)
