La doble vida de Estela Carillo, #35 Friday, 6/23/17 Everybody wants a piece of Estela Carillo

Estela reads the note that Ryan got from El Dorado: they want his Furia shares and for him to break up with Estela
Ryan says he will NEVER leave Laura. She is forced to acknowledge that thanks to ED he is alive. But why would ED want to stand between the two of them? Wanting access to Furia is one thing, but why are they targeted as a couple? Ryan thinks that his brother might be involved, but Laura doubts it. Nevertheless, Ryan thinks that she should stay away from him.
Laura is thinking about talking directly with ED. Ryan thinks this is a situation that men should handle (huh?), but she is sure that women are strong, too. After all, the person who tried to kill her and hurt him was a woman, La Tona. Ryan asks for the truth once again. So Laura tells him how she used to work for La Tona as a prostitute. She believed Fausto's lies, but he just left her in La Tona's hands. The first few months Osiel used to beat her every day, but after a while she managed to convince them that she was Ok with her situation, even if she was broken inside. She remembers how at one point she wanted to call her aunt but La Tona told her that the old lady was dead. When Laura cried she was just handed over to some random guy.
Ryan is crying as Laura is talking. She tried to tell him once, at the restaurant. He is sorry she had to talk about the past, and he thinks Fausto is Paloma's dad. She denies it and wants to go. He asks her to come back, kisses her hand and says how sorry he feels for everything. She quiets him with a kiss.

La Doble Vida de Estela Carrillo #34, 6-22-17, Ryan loses a round in the Cartel Tournament of Roses; Calao is out, QEPD

Anita, here, substituting for Alfredo, so he can enjoy his vacation away from the confusing life of Doble Agent Estela—oops, sorry, not a spy thriller. Actually, it should be called the Triple Life of Estela Carrillo or even the Quadruple Life of Estela Carrillo, most of which we know nothing about and are learning nothing much. Laura Oviedo is another case in point. She is also a mystery woman--with a child. A mystery so great there are people out there trying to kill her. So she hides with the new personna (with papers) of Estela Carrillo. This identity is beginning to unravel and though she takes the stage name of La Regia, no one is fooled by that little twist. In fact she’s in further danger since she, her voice, the gossip and scandal surrounding her are now front and center.

Part 1 of 3…Some scenes combined for the sake of continuity.
Assassination Attempt
A laser is trained on the middle of Ryan’s forehead as he starts his car in the Furia parking garage. Either the laser, the shooter or his van are off target and Ryan ends up shot in his abdomen (Miracle #1). The van takes off and Ryan falls out of his car. Security comes running calling for an ambulance, stat. (Miracle #2).

The Abused Covers for the Abuser with the Magic Word “Baby”
Tad, Maria and Lett’s duffle bags are packed and on the floor in the middle of Tom’s spacious living room floor. Apparently Tad has persuaded his mother to flee the house of her now escalating abusive husband (in name only, except for one time, cause she’s pregnant). Tom returns and demands to know what is going on. Lett tells him they are leaving him.

La Piloto #77 6-21-17: Yolanda was--is--still--in Peril

Dear Alfredo--Hope you are having a wonderful time. Wish you were here, instead of me.

Although I watched the episode last night, there's not much I can remember without a re-run (which I might do later).

I remember Yolanda being reunited with the baby--she gave him Arley's name (I think).
I remember John showing Sonia some horses and her getting a phone call from Sinesterra. She urges peace among all the rival factions.
I remember seeing a lot of mothers with babies all about the same age. Is it something in the water?
I remember Yolanda not having maternal instincts and the warden noticing she didn't know how to burp a baby.
I remember DEADave not being successful in getting immunity or some kind of protection for Yoli and the gang and not wanting to tell Yoli, but decides to go visit.
I remember Yolanda holding baby Arley and having some flashbacks.

La Candidata, Miercoles, 6/21/17 Chapter 15: Gerardo's Lie

At Ignacio’s house Regina explains to Alonso that she was going to call him as soon as she figured out what was going on. Alonso makes a snarky remark about how she called Gerardo instead of him. He then addresses Ignacio and says “give me my son or I will have my guards handle this issue” Gerardo tries to let level heads prevail and asks Ignacio to give Emi back to Alonso and Regina, and to go take care of his daughter instead.
Noemi is at an isolated area, without a car and is freaking out trying to call Regina.
Now in Alonso’s car, Regina is pleading to Alonso to take Emi to the hospital since they don’t know what type of drugs he consumed. Like always Alonso dismisses Regina’s concerns says that Emi is fine and “just look at him he is sleeping like a baby and is clueless as to the turmoil he has caused”. They continue to argue about what is best for Emi, Regina wants to continue to overprotect and Alonso want’s the hands off approach (yin yang).

La Doble Vida de Estela Carrillo, #33, Weds Jun 21 2017: The Fast and the Furias

Danilo taunts Ryan, "Now you've lost two Estelas." Danilo and Laura do a press conference. Dani shows off Laura's ring and says blah blah blah. Laura looks like she has a bug in her mouth, but if she opens her mouth a bomb will go off.

Steve tries to apologize to Genesis, but she says it's too late now - it's been a month. So now we know her statute of limitations.

Another Furia artist named Ausencio Granados grouses to Morgana that the press is more interested in gossip than in music. Morgana brags.

Milton comes along and has plenty of questions. Morgana is eager to answer, but the questions are for Ausencio. Oh holy crap, her boobs are almost up to her chin. I mean... I get that she's trying to maximize, but there is a limit. She warms up her voice hilariously.

Milton asks Ausencio some pointed questions about his narcos corridos (gangster ballads). Ausencio is evasive. He says sure he knows some Salgados, but they're not THE Salgados, they're just some guys from Guadalajara. He says he's got a bone to pick with La Regia for challenging him about his songs. This inspires Ryan with a great idea to end all of this forever. (Great! So, like, just five more episodes left, correct??)

So La Regia faces off with Ausencio in front of cameras, and they have a debate about the ethics of glorifying narcos, the false virtue of machismo, etc. Eventually Ausencio says something obnoxious that I don't catch, but it's something in the general category of "do you talk that way to your husband," and La Regia slaps him. (Just a regular slap, not a bitch slap. Unfortunately.) Danilo revels in the press's attention.

Tadeo invites Valdo to the house. Tom went to San Bernardino to see about a job and will probably come home drunk. No one else is home. Tadeo says he and Maria got accepted by a school and will start in a few days. Tadeo is nervous around Valdo.

La Piloto #76 6-20-17: Yolanda is--was--is--in Peril

Our dear Alfredo is on vacation and has left a big hole in coverage for the next two weeks. Most of the days will have to be filled in by viewers. Anita will be back after she sees the episode. She did not like the previews from Monday night and decided not to watch last night (thank goodness).

Highlights--
Yolanda meets S&M on a lonely country road. The nurse and "Santiago baby" are in the back seat.

Mama Estela and Arley are hot on the trail.

S&M makes her drive to the latest Lucio hideout (which we now know is an abandoned school--huh?) He tells Zuli to watch the nurse and the baby until he decides what to do with them.

He hangs her up and fires up a brazier. He takes off his coat and gets busy. He looks hungry, maybe it's a barbecue.

Arley goes in and makes Estela stay put. Estela doesn't stay put.

La Doble Vida de Estela Carrillo, #32, Tuesday Jun 20 2017: The Gift Horse

This is just a mini-recap. Don't hesitate to add details in the comments.

Laura and Ryan are still in the stable when Danilo comes home. (Steve tried to warn Ryan, but Ryan was ignoring his phone.) Dani doesn't catch them because Morgana has arrived to pick a fight with him. Steve texts Genesis to ask for another chance.

Laura sneaks into the house, while Ryan waits in the stable to get the all-clear. Before Dani can go into the house, Marcelino Salgado arrives with the horse. Laura comes outside to greet them, and her hair is miraculously dry!

Danilo makes a big show of gifting the horse to Laustela, in front of Morgana. Later, after everyone has left or gone inside, Morgana decides to harm or mar the horse. Steve sends Ryan the all-clear, but as Ryan tries to leave, Morgana intercepts him. He makes an agreement with her and tells Laura so, but doesn't tell her or us what that agreement is.

Joe tells Mercy he's one signature shy of a divorce, but is interrupted by a phone call from his wife. The kids want to see him. Joe says he's too busy with work.

Next day, the doctor tells Leticia that she might have a tumor, and on top of that, she's pregnant. But she tells the kids she got a headache from being nervous and angry. And she wants to know where Maria got the money to buy the phone. Did she steal it from her father? Maria says she wanted to punish Erasmo for leaving them. Tadeo and Leticia scold her for giving Mexicans a bad name. Leticia says Maria has to go back and apologize. Oh and Tomas hasn't come home yet.

Danilo calls BunMan to tell him that Porfirio caught them double-dealing with Marcelino and is threatening to kill Palomita. Dani thinks Porfirio could be just as profitable in time, but BunMan doesn't want to alienate Marcelino. Danilo is emphatic that he does not want La Regia's daughter killed.

Let us pause for a moment to admire Danilo's one good quality. Time's up!

La candidata Friday 6/16/17 Capítulo 12: Omar Threatens Natalia

OR: "Mujer honrada, la pierna quebrada y en casa" (An honorable woman is at home with a broken leg.) This classic Spanish proverb is alive and well in the misogynist world of "La candidata".

Alonso accuses Cecilia of lying to him. He never told her to do that. Cecilia thinks back on it all. Mauro told her and she thought they were Alonso's orders. That is why she got close to Hernán; to control him. She asked him to withdraw the information he was going to publish. Alonso wants to know if Mauro also asked her to sleep with Hernán. Cecilia just looks at the floor.

A very upset Emiliano, in the middle of Hugo's medical emergency, calls Regina. He says he is at Hugo's house and Hugo is dead from pills he took. Hugo's mother is blaming him for it all. Regina calls an ambulance. Emiliano needs to stay put, Regina is on her way.

Gerardo gets home and Ximena is there in tears. She comes clean about lying to him the night before. Her mother was not home when he called and she ended up going out herself. She informs Gerardo that Teresa is up to her old tricks: she is asking her for money again. Furthermore, she said that Teresa wanted to make a pact not to tell him about it. Teresa also hit her. Then she started taking everything out of the house saying she was going to sell it all. She cannot/does not want to live with her. Gerardo discovers that Teresa followed Ximena back to his place and that Teresa stole his father's watch. He shakes his head in exasperation.

Natalia informs Omar that she does not want to/cannot get back together with him. Omar says it is her choice. If she chooses to leave him, he will kill her. He will not allow her to expose him in front of everybody. It is bad enough that she came to stay at their son's house. How much more is she planning on humiliating him? Natalia thinks he should be in prison for killing Javier. No, he will be in prison for killing her, the damned ingrate she is. Natalia threatens to scream. Omar doesn't care because nobody will come to her aid. The time has come for her to end her tantrum. Come home with him or he will kill her on the spot. He proves his point when he takes out a gun.

La Candidata 6/15/17 Chapter 11: Emiliano Blames Himself For ….. (See Recap)

AFTER HOURS AT THE OFFICE
Alonso has Cecelia in his office. After flirting with him all day, he figures he has a right to make his BIG move, right there and then. After seductively kissing her he gets rough and throws her back so she lands on his desk. He approaches again and Ceci doesn’t exactly rebuff him, but states she doesn’t get involved with married men.

Meanwhile, Regina is approaching the governor’s office. Ceci hasn’t moved. Al looks at her not very seductively and orders her to remove her clothes, slowly. Ceci reaches for her zipper. Regie reaches for the door.

Hernán, who’s been snooping around the halls after hours, watched Ceci enter the gov’s office and now sees Regie at the door. He interrupts her movement toward the door and while she is distracted by wondering what he is doing here and his saying he wants to ask her some questions, he invisibly sends Ceci a text that the gov’s wife is at the door.

La Piloto #73 6.15.17: In Which Yolanda Continues to Lose...

Hey all! This thing is far from over but this is my final recap as I am going on vacation for the next couple of weeks. Anita and Jardinera will either post a discussion page or recap in my absence but I encourage our amazing patio to contribute any way you can as we reach our final flight with Yolanda.

Thank you to my co-pilot, Jardinera, who first encouraged me to watch this, because I had no plans to, but was pleasantly surprised by the great acting, face paced story and relatable characters (despite a lot of dumb decisions along the way ;D) And I want to thank you all, our loyal commentors and passengers on this bumpy ride: Kirby, JudyB, Niecie, Carvivlie, Anita, Nett, Lynette, Steve, Vivi (for a little in the beginning there, hope you've kept up!) and many others who came and went. Hope to see you for another one and talk soon! :)

• Mercy arrives home with Joe. She thinks it’s incredible that Ryan would reprimand her for her actions, especially since she’s now a widow, but everything is always her fault. Joe thinks he will forgive her eventually but Mercy doesn’t think so, especially after he already forgave and forgot Laustela’s fake robbery. She then grows quiet and admits that she feels dirty because of their actions but Joe tells her that it will take time, but they will get through it. He then kisses her.
• Laustela arrives with Ryan at his condominium and Rosario gives her a big hug before thanking her lucky stars that she’s okay. Ryan explains that Laustela has been through hell and back but was finally able to escape Danilo. Rosario nods as Laustela goes to get her some clean clothes so she can shower. Once alone, Laustela admits that she thought today was the last day of her life but Ryan proposes they beat him at his own game. Laustela would prefer he not get involved as Danilo is now a murderer because he killed El Dorado.
• Mercy wouldn’t want to give up her opportunity to be happy and Joe doesn’t want her to. He agrees they did wrong by Walter but that is the past. Mercy worries about what people will say when they are out in public but Joe doesn’t care. He does ask that she tell him if she doesn’t want to be with him anymore so he can leave. Mercy doesn’t think it’s that easy, especially after they’ve admitted their feelings to each other, but Joe reiterates that he will do what she wishes.

La Candidata, 6/14/17 Chapter 10: Cecilia and Alonso's Rendezvous

Regina is chasing Emiliano down the hallway of the office; obviously he did not like being reprimanded for kidnapping Hugo. As she continues to chase him, Tere is casually coming out of Gerardo’s office and what do you know Regina bumps into the last person she should have bumped into. Tere takes this very opportunistic opportunity and begins to shower Regina with insults. “You love to steal husbands”. Gerardo who is behind Tere tries to hold her back and tells her to stop. Regina is paralyzed and can only watch. Gerardo asks Tere to leave, and she obliges but not before trying to land a punch on Regina. Wow. Gerardo tries to apologize to Regina, but all she can do is yell at him not to touch her and storms off.
Mario is on the phone with Cecilia, and he tells her that if she manages to help Alonso get out of the eye of the storm she will “earn a piece in heaven”, and as for what she did with the Regina/Gerardo pictures, that was good because “we always have to protect family”.
Mauro approaches Mario, Mario says
“I think we have Omar were we want him, look for Javier’s partner and find out everything about Javier Guzman”
Mario will have to get close to Natalia in order to get more info. Mauro then informs Mario that Natalia is at the Governor’s house because she had a problem with Omar.
Noemi walks in and Mario informs her that they are going to pay Natalia a visit. Noemi hesitates because she does not want to see Omar. Not a problem Natalia is at the Governor’s house.

La Candidata 6/13/17 Chapter 9: Omar Orders Javier's Execution

• Regina wanted to tell Alonso everything about her possible candidacy but he didn’t make dinner and then he arrived with Natalia so she figured it’d be inappropriate. Alonso thinks they can talk about it now but Regina thinks that it’s an informal possibility though Alonso argues that it is one presented by the Worker’s Union, which is very important. Regina thinks he shouldn’t minimize his own aspirations to the presidency but Alonso already explained why. Regina shakes her head, she knows him and knows he wants to be president. She asks that he let her know, if anything, but Alonso tells her that some people think he should be but that doesn’t mean anything. She asks why he talked to Gerardo about it, if it meant nothing, but Alonso is more pissed that Gerardo told Regina about their conversation. She tells him that it wasn’t Gerardo and explains that Ignacio told Daniela, who then told her. Alonso nods but confesses that she is becoming unrecognizable, especially after she hid her meeting with the Worker’s Union from him. Regina also explained why she did so but realizes that Alonso only cares about the possible effects of her nomination on him and not because worries about her. She apologizes and promises that she will never forget that he is the priority. She storms off and Alonso asks why they always fight when they talk before leaving.

• Rosario and Paloma cheer Laustela on because she’s committed to Regia despite the circumstances. They all smile.
• Nina tells Fausto that his scar is almost closed but it got infected so he’s going to have a nasty scar. He thought they had taken good care of him at Mr. Blake’s but that was not the case. Nina then gets ready to go, much to Fausto’s annoyance, since he wanted her to stay but Nina wants to go see Regia live, especially after she met her in person. She suggests he get dressed and go with her but Fausto wants her to come back afterward so they can have some fun. Nina suggests he pay her, so he can reserve her time, and Fausto halfheartedly does, though he chides her for making him pay since he thought they knew each other better.
• In the dressing room, Genesis tells Laustela that Ryan is on his way and the band members are almost ready. Laustela comes out, as Regia, and Genesis complements her attire and body. Just then, Danilo comes and Genesis leaves. He thinks Laustela looks gorgeous but a little sad. Laustela admits that she wanted to be a singer but the circumstances have made her less enthusiastic. He nods and requests that he open with a new song before handing her a piece of paper. Laustela argues that she didn’t rehearse it and it looks strange but Danilo wants her to learn it in 20 minutes and perform it as instructed.

La Doble Vida de Estela Carrillo, #26, Monday Jun 12 2017: And the Dish Ran Away with the Spoon

There is no dish.
There is no spoon.
How can you eat your Hopeos without a dish or spoon?
Easy: pour your beer, wine, or milk directly into the box. It's moisture-proof! Then spear your cereal with a fork. Take a selfie and post it on InstaSnapFace!

Calao tells Danilo that El Dorado somehow failed to make a deal with Porfirio Pineda, el Baron, from the Los Altos gang. This is Danilo's big chance!

At the secret hideaway, Ryan asks Laura to promise they'll never be apart again. They kiss. She warns him that Danilo is dangerous - not so much on his own, but by way of the people around him. She doesn't want him to find out that she and Ryan are together. And she's worried that there will be a scandal about her being with Ryan and then with his brother. Ryan is angry, but Laura urges him to be patient.

At a bar, Calao carefully places his sunglasses under his hat. This is irrelevant, but I had to rewind three times to see what it was, so now you know too. For some reason, he and Danilo have come here to discuss the new client (maybe they're worried that his office is bugged?). Danilo wants to know what's the deal with this Porfirio Pineda guy, but Calao doesn't tell him much - only that he wanted to meet with Danilo. Danno thinks maybe El Dorado wants him to take up the clients that El D can't handle. Calao says in that case, El D will probably want a commission. Dani says no, it's HIS deal and he won't share! He asks Calao to set up a meet and not let BunMan know about it. He promises Calao a stake in the deal.

La Candidata 6/12/17 Chapter 8: Regina and Gerardo Are Exposed

• Regina tells Emiliano that Ximena imagined an affair between her and Gerardo or thought they had one but it’s not true. She has known Gerardo since they were at the university together and he even knows Alonso like they know Teresa. Emiliano doesn’t think Ximena anything but Regina reiterates that she has a strictly professional relationship with him as a fellow senator in another political party. Emiliano asks if she’s sure but Regina is quiet.
• Alonso tells Cecilia that she has nothing to be sorry for but does ask that she go to him first should they have another problem. Cecilia nods and explains that she just didn’t want to be the source of any tension between him and Regina, who apologized for her behavior afterward, but vows to not let anything like what happened interfere with her work again. Alonso smiles and asks if she wants to take the day but Cecilia prefers to work though she needs him to forgive her for any trouble she may have caused. Alonso nods and asks her to talk to the newspapers so they don’t run the note that may implicate Omar. He then asked if she cried, and points to the bridge of her nose, which Cecilia quickly wipes away. She tells him that she was sad and angry but she feels better now. Alonso thinks that’s good and gets closer as Magda comes in and sees them.
• Regina reiterates that she is not having an affair and would prefer that Emiliano not talk to Ximena again. Emiliano wonders if it’s because she’s the daughter of the opposition and Regina nods, on top of her being a liar. She offers to take him to dinner but Emiliano reminds her that she has her nightly meetings and pulls away from her. Regina doesn’t fight him and leaves his room without another word.

La doble vida de Estela Carillo, #25 Friday, 06/09/17 Regrets, threats, and intolerable inepts (courtesy of RgvChick)

We start back with Ryan finding out that Laura is with Danilow because she’s being threatened with deportation and being separated from Paloma. Ryan Crazy Eyes Cabrera wants to go break his bro’s bones, but Rosario says it would be too dangerous for Laura. Ry wonders once again what makes Mexico so scary, but Rosario has spilled enough beans for now. He realizes that he has been acting like an imbecil with Laura but Chayo asks him to take things slow.

Laura doesn’t want to talk about Paloma’s dad with Mercy, since he’s dead. She says a tearful goodby to Paloma (I’m crying a bit, too). Then, in the car, she cries some more, thinking about what she’s been through with her daughter (saving her from whatever was threatening them in Mexico, crossing the border, playing together). Next thing you know, she’s back at the house, just when Mercy is about to take Paloma shopping and teach her to call her mommy (wtf!). She says that she just can’t separate from her daughter, it would be a terrible mistake. Mercy is a mom, she must understand. (Does she? She did abandon a child, right?)

La Candidata 6/9/17 Chapter 7: Regina Apologizes to Cecilia

OR: How Regina Gets Thrown Under the Bus and Played 2X All in the Same Day

NB: the gov=Alonso=the gov

We start with a "mother and child" reunion between Ximena and her mother Teresa at the rehab center. Ximena has gone to visit her mother. They are both happy to see each other. Ximena needs her mother. Teresa will always be there for her. Ximena has a more pressing issue to address: she now knows that her mother was not merely fantasizing about her father being in love with another woman. Ximena tells her mother that her dad Gerardo abandoned her for the wife of the governor.

We are transported back to the vacant office/apartment Omar uses for his personal interrogation/detention center to witness Mario's triumphant return with his own band of thugs. When confronted by Mario, Omar accuses him of having committed two mistakes: meddling in the gov's business and in his grandson's business. While the two old codger mafiosi are hashing the matter out of who started it, Javier is taking advantage of being free of supervision and starts to try to loosen the ties that bind him. He frees himself and starts looking for a way out but the best he can do is to stash himself in one of many closets. Back to the main event! Mario accuses Omar of having it all wrong. Mario did what he did to just help out so his daughter and the whole country did not find out that Omar's son the gov had a lover. As for their grandson Emiliano, Mario just took an opportunity to get rid of a problem for him. Omar is not impressed and makes it clear that ALL business needs to be done through him and not through the governor. Mario justifies his acts again because they all could have been destroyed. Omar is not accepting Mario as their "savior'. Mario knows that but wants to take advantage of the opportunity to establish a truce. Hey, he won't even retaliate for what Omar did to him. They are all in the same boat; all pulling for the same side. Omar does not see that as a reality because Mario is pulling for Regina and he is pulling for Alonso. No problem! It turns out that there is really no conflict between them because Mario thinks Regina is brilliant but since she is an idealist and not a deal maker, she is useless to them in politics. It would be better for her to stay in the senate and for Alonso to get the real power in his hands. For Omar the conversation is over but Mario still wants a non-aggression pact/truce. They are family. They are business partners. He puts his hand out to shake. Omar finally shakes on it but still does not look convinced. In the meantime Javier manages to escape. Omar is angry and sends his goons in hot pursuit.

La Doble Vida de Estela Carilo, #20 Friday, It takes a village to write a recap

Hello, everybody!

I have to break my promise about having a recap ready because I simply couldn't bring myself to watch a silly telenovela after spending more than an hour on the news channels, trying to find what what on Earth is going on in London.

But you guys are amazing; barely need any recap at all to get the ball rolling, and for almost 100 comments no less.

I did steal some of your input about the show and added it here, for those who come back to visit the page later on. Thank you, Julie, I actually stole all your mini-recap (I would never get upset over that). Also, thank you to everyone who contributed (Alfredo, Diana, RGV, Kirby, Steve, Anita, Susanlynn, Nina)I stole little bits and pieces from all of your comments.

I hope this makes a little bit of sense to you.

Danilo and Nasty Co are going to pay Fausto, using Furia money under the guise that Laustela will do a solo album.
Laustela is supposed to become the only singer in Danilo's band, allegedly per El Dorado's orders (according to BunMan). She doesn't want to, but Morgana doesn't believe her.

Thanks to Chavalin's help (who's more useful from jail than any of the other characters), Laustela is now suspicious that Furia is laundering money, but does she suspects Ryan is the culprit?  And because she fibbed to Genesis about her reason for wanting to know the name and address of the disc alleged presser, Genesis innocently blabbed Laustela's mission to Danilo, so Danilo knows that she's on the trail.
Laustela decides to tell Ryan about the blackmail and asks him for help (right turn); but then she goes and tells Danilow about her suspicions regarding the laundering of money (left turn). She pushes away Danilow for now, but she needs to be more cautious than that. In this particular situation Moronga (LOOOL) is right to be upset because she's being thrown to the curb, but why is it Laustela's fault? Initiating a fight with every man's darling (Laustela) was definitely not the right move for her, especially since she ended up losing. I have a feeling she will want a rematch soon. That is, if she has the time. It looks like she's about to be kicked to the curb, and Danilo isn't exactly thinking clean, no hard feelings break-up.

Danilo forces himself on Morgana. She eventually stops fighting, she even appears to enjoy it, but is she really? Also, Danilower then low seems to like it rough. I hope Laustela opens her eyes to this buffon FAST.

Osiel, La Tona's hubby, is dead.

Paloma is starting to soften's Mercy's cold heart. Is Rosario annoyed because faux grandma is buying too many presents, therefor spoiling the child, or is she jealous?

LetmeLearn, desperate to learn English, calls Tomas - the scruffy, thin man from the park. Because a guy met in the park for a few seconds is the best person to go to if you want to ask for a favor.
May I suggest she get her own show and leave ours in peace?

That's about it!
Once again, sorry for today, but I really didn't have the heart to do more this morning and now I have to run to work.

LaPiloto #64 6-2-17: Hot On The Trail, Picking Up The Pieces and Tying Up Loose Ends

I have a video without CC so far and have about 50% of what's been said and 25% sort of what's been said and 25% of nada about what was said.  I prefer to wait for the CC'd version on this capítulo which won't arrive till late tonight if Loony Uni follows the pattern.  Oh well.....

The major points are these:

  • John meets up with Col. Santa(he-ain't)Maria.

La Doble Vida de Estela Carrillo (LDVDEC) #19 6.1.17: If He Drugs You...He Doesn't Love You

Memories are in italics.

• Laustela doesn’t care about Ryan and Morgana’s kiss. In fact, she came to ask him for help regarding Chavalin’s situation.
• Ryan asks Joe to help Chavalin out. Joe will do what he can but he notes that falsifying IDs is a serious offense. Ryan then asks about Liz and Joe notes that they are thinking about splitting up.
• Laustela asks Genesis if she can give Leticia asylum at her apartment for a few days and Genesis accepts.
• Danilo tries to get Laustela to celebrate with him that the album is complete as does Morgana, who is still pissed at all the attention she is Danilo gives Laustela.
• Laustela and Rosario discuss the Ryan and Danilo situation to death. Laustela notes it’s temporary and she was clear with Danilo about her feelings. Danilo doesn’t seem to care and skips the celebration to eat lunch with them and Paloma at the house.
• The next day, Danilo discusses the money laundering scheme with “El Dorado.” ED notes that he will soon replace him as it usually the rule of life. Danilo smiles at the thought.
• Several days later, the showcase is about to commence and Danilo gets handsy with Laustela backstage, though she chides him immediately. Danilo then goes to Morgana’s dressing room, offers her a drink, and suggests she use her other ASSets since she has less than ideal singing skills. She tries to throw him out but her vision gets blurry and she faints on the couch.

La Piloto #63 6.1.17: In Which Yolanda Doesn't Follow Orders and Pays the Price

• Armed guards escort John and Arley out of the jail and to the waiting trucks. Arley teases John on the way to the squad cars before a guard orders him to shut up. John only smiles as they are loaded up into the cars, which drive away as a man observes from an adjacent roof. The man calls Oscar and tells him that the car carrying John just left.
• Later, Oscar then calls his men by the airstrip and orders them to stay put until Santamaria gives the order to move in. Santamaria tells Oscar that the extraction should be easy since there are only four squad cars protecting escorting John. Oscar asks him if they have to wait much longer but Santamaria asks him to be patient and then leaves the car to make sure the diversion is in place. Oscar reminds his men to stay sharp as it’s going to get good.
• Yolanda reminds Vergara that he has plenty of men that can kill John but Vergara reminds her that she must follow his orders or the baby dies. Yolanda understands and Vergara explains that she will fly with two men and they will relay the plan to her once they are up in the air. He then tells her that she will also have men are the ground to help her, if need be, and Yolanda nods before they leave.

La Candidata Miercoles, 5/31/17 Chapter 3 Regina Suspects Her Father Has a Lover

Chapter 3 – Regina suspects her father has a lover
The press surrounds Regina’s car, they are like lions surrounding their prey ready for the kill. Daniela gets into the car and apologizes to Regina she had been trying to call her to let her know to go in thru the back door to avoid the vultures.
Regina asks about Almiro and Daniela confirms he is inside waiting for her. Daniela tells her to “breathe” as she prepares to emerge from the car. As she gets out of her car, the reporters go in for the kill and begin to bombard her with questions about Florencia Oscura.

“What relationship is there between the death of Florencia and the video that has gone viral on the internet?”
“My son is another victim of this unfortunate event, and it worries me like all of these unguarded young women. I will continue to work so this doesn’t happen again”

The mob continues to hound her, not allowing her to get thru when out of nowhere Gerardo appears and comes to the rescue. He takes over answering questions defending Regina. He continues and ends the barrage by stating that the reporters should allow the authorities to continue with the investigation.
Alonso is in another part of town having just completed a press conference and asks his assistant Magda and Pacheco “how did I do?”

Pacheco not holding back says “in my opinion, you should have answered more questions”
“What? So that they could crucify me?”
Magda chimes in and says “next time look directly at the camera, it makes you appear more truthful”
“See that’s a good critique”
As Alonso tries to retreat, a group of reporters catches up to him and complains about not being allowed to ask questions.
“What happened to being transparent?”
“Investigate all you want and you will see that my government is more transparent than water, as far as Florencia Oscura I have nothing else to say”
Pacheco jumps in and says “press conference is over”

Oscar nods and asks for the information then though he realizes Santamaria must want something in return. Santamaria tells him that he is looking for Yolanda Cadena, because they have an old score to settle, though he doesn’t have many contacts in Mexico who can help him so he needs his help. Chavalin thinks it’s strange she doesn’t know, since Laustela sent her, but she looks untrustworthy either way so it could be that she’s not as friendly with Laustela as she originally told him. Morgana tells him to calm down, she just thought Laustela had no family, but he explains that he’s an uncle on Laustela’s mother side. He then asks Morgana to leave as he’s very busy and has to call his niece. Morgana nods, huffs and puffs, and hurries out.

La Candidata Lunes, 5/29/17 Chapter 1: Looking for Guilt

Foreword

After years of chronicling the lives of the rich and shameless I am still astonished at how similar they are no matter the country or culture. The newly rich like Eladio Gomez-Luna will buy their respectability through the silence and compliance of others. In the end he fell short of becoming another Gerald Bradley because the latter never fooled the set who regarded him as an interloper. In the end – if what I heard about his death was true – he was ultimately unable to fool himself. Since I no longer practice the faith of my upbringing I am done speculating on whether he is in Purgatory or elsewhere.

I have found new examples of the ultimate indulgences of such people. While there is no Coliseum or Circus Maximus in Mexico City the San Románs share some of the vices of certain historical personages echoed by their name. Only modern civil law and my profession have – thus far – held the line against the rise of a new Caligula or Nero. I am a latter-day Suetonius, telling tales of hypocrisy, corruption, and crimes that attempt to defy discovery and go without punishment. I present my tales to you, my elite readers, that you may judge these people for who they are.

Sit back and read at your leisure. At least our wine is better than that which was consumed by the Caesars.
  • D.D.

La doble vida de Estela Carrillo, # 15, Friday 05/26/15 Dumb and dumber make a fine couple, indeed

This is from memory (watched while cooking dinner), so sorry for any mistakes; I did a lot of editing, I combined scenes for better flow, stupid dialogues were ignored (almost everything having to do with the Threesome that nobody asked for, formed by LetMe, Eraser and Brujita).

Estela is waiting for Ryan at the restaurant, but he's a no show. She calls Furia and Genesis tells her that Ry forgot his phone at work because he left in a hurry - he needed to "save" someone. This worries Estela, she asks Genesis to search for the last call on Ryan's phone and give her the number. (Note to Ryan: password protect your phone, you silly idiot.)
She then calls said number and ends up at a rehabilitation clinic where a receptionist tells her that Mr. Cabrera has been checking in, without giving any further information.
Estela is impactada that Ryan would hide something this important from her and tells Chayo that she needs to further investigate. There is no way that she can tell him her own deep dark secrets as long as HE has deep dark secrets of his own.

So these two lovable fools already have a rocky relationship three days into their dating/ engagement (who would have guessed, with all the lying by omission, by mistake, on purpose, for the grater good etc etc..). When they meet back at the house, Ryan apologizes for standing her up at the restaurant, in the process making up a story about some business deal that he had to solve asap. Estela pretends to believe him, but decides to do some investigating into  Ryan Cabrera, Man of Many Secrets and ardent lover.
