Qué Bonito Amor #110 (Mex 148) Monday 9/16/13 Save a Life and a Love
Federal
Prison, Conjugal Visit Room: Maria arrives and flies into
Santos' arms. He seems to come to his senses and is glad to see her. Muchos
besos, por supuesto.
Hospital
in D.F.: Doctor demands that Justo make a decision.
Mendoza
Apt: How the hell did Aaron get in there? Paloma tells him to
get lost. He refuses several times until Paloma tells him she'd
rather transfer to another school than deal with him. He threatens to follow her to any new school. El Jalisquito
starts telling him off, followed by Isabel. Aaron is insulting to El
Jalisquito, who doesn't take his crap and almost shoves him out the
door. [We may find him annoying and presumptuous but he will be a
good protector when he's grown up].
Oscar's
Apt: Rodrigo is getting increasingly frustrated, overturning
furniture until he finally calms down and picks up the phone.
Cafe in
Tijuana: Oscar is falling asleep behind the counter as he and
Rigoberto are still trapped by that scam. His cell phone rings and
it's Roddy with his latest problem.

Corazon Indomable, Episode #90, Monday, 9/16/2013 – Boy, Oblivio Really Is No Good!!!
Recap by LatinaInMD
Boy, Oblivio Really Is No Good!!!
The Short: When I
was enjoying this show, I liked recapping every little detail. But now that I’m somewhat bored (sorry,
gringo), I came up with this short Haiku version of Oblivio’s “accomplishments”
in this episode:
Flee Shut Up Doris,
Lean on Simona for Dough,
Bye, Bye, Baby Girl!!!
Oh, ok, I guess a little detail is still in order, given this is
such a “pivotal” episode.
The Long:
I’m still giving you all more or less a bullet-point recap
because that’s pretty much what we got from the editors with this seriously
chopped-up episode. Was it just my
impression, or were most scenes just seconds long?
Previously: Lucia
is on the phone with Ofelia, telling her they have sold the ranch and must pack
up their belongings. Octavio bemoans to
Ed the loss of his parents’ beloved ranch, as if he didn’t spend the better
part of his adult immature playboy life trying to get rid of it.

Qué Bonito Amor #109 (Mex 147) Friday 9/13/13 Face To Face Once More, But Cheek to Cheek?
While bustiered Wanda’s intriguing Coloso and Don Rigo with her eighth and
ninth wonders of the world, those two fall for the oldest bar scam in the books and get stuck with a 20 thousand peso bill for their two bottles of champagne. Colosso
ends up having to sing to cover the cost.

Porque el Amor Manda #134: Patricia la Recepcionista, Part II
In the "work" place:
Rogelio shambles out of the elevator and is greeted by the happy trill of the new receptionist -- our Patymelt, looking scrumptious in Avon pink. The security guards are thrilled with the view. He storms back to his office and calls Alma, who giggles through the entire conversation. Tough toenails, Rog; the paperwork's done and the contract's signed! He tells her he hates her. Que lastima! I like her a lot better when she gets her snark on.
Rogue calls Paty into his office and tries to boss her around, but of course she's been around long enough to know he ain't the boss. She gives a very nice speech: she can live without him, she's starting her life over, and she has important work to do -- so next time he buzzes her, he'll hear one word: WHATEVER.
Back at the front desk, Vero shows up in the diamond dog-collar and is surprised to see the Alpha Female herself. Vero taunts her for having a tacky little job, which seems oddly snobbish for someone who makes her living on her back. Paty replies that gosh yes, she is wildly jealous; she would MUCH rather live with a man who sends flowers and jewelry to other women. Uh-oh! GIRL FIGHT! The guards have a jolly time physically separating them.
Neurotica marches into Rogue's office, throws the necklace in his face, and demands that he fire Paty immediately. After she's gone, he talks to himself in his iPad mirror app. If he can get good enough at calling himself "Rrrrroger," he won't need her anymore.
In other news:
* Jess can't hit the sheets with Ollie because she has some terrible secret that will ruin everything if it comes out before the wedding. She can't possibly be a virgin -- although that would certainly be quite a secret -- so what is it?
* In a complete departure from telenovela law, Alejandra witnesses not only the attempt but also the failure of Discua's seduction, and still feels the need to march into Avon to discuss the "almost-kiss" with both Fernie and Xochi. QTH? Doesn't Fern get any brownie points at all???
* Vero confesses to Cinthia that hating Chucho is the only way she can be near him -- at least if they're fighting, they still have a relationship. Well, at least she's self-aware.
* Val tells Eli that Paty's a good egg and advises him to put on his big-boy pants and ask her to be his novia.
* The gremio is plotting some super-hot makeover for Xochi, but with all the running around talking to everyone but Fernando about Fernando she won't sit still long enough for them to do anything.
* Augusta begs Jesus to come back to work. She needs him! She can't manage on her own!
* Alma and Val have secrets, too. Maybe there IS more super-glue.

Porque el Amor Manda #134: Patricia la Recepcionista, Part I
On the other side of death's door:
Jesus has thought of a way to keep Alma next to him for everz and everz. He gets a coquettish smile. It's probably just something lame like asking her to marry him and not something cool and original like letting Valentina attach them to each other with super-glue, but anyway, he won't tell, even if she blandishes him with big besos. She tries anyway.
Delia arrives in mid-blandishment to announce that Marta is going to be spending the rest of her life in the manicomio. Ha. We'll see about THAT.She also gives Jesus a book that may or may not be about after-death experiences, and oh, by the way, tells him that he is free to return home as long as he stays away from Valentina. Wasn't that kind of the big news? Shouldn't that have been the opener, or was she trying to warm him up with reading matter?
Just then Valentina comes rocketing in like a Chucho-seeking missile, followed by balloons, Paty, Elias and Chatita, in that order. Delia allows that the defendant is not at fault if he's bedridden and someone launches a child at him. What a grown-up. No wonder she doesn't get many lines. Chucho gathers his motley family around and gives a pretty speech thanking his tocayo for all the lurrrrrrves. Group hug + manly fist bump.
Out in the middle of the street, frightening the horses:
Discua accosts Fernando in front of his apartment building. She never defrauded anyone! She's innocent! He looks skeptically at her fancy car. Hey, I worked (out) hard for that! She homes in on his lips several times, but he stands firm. Alejandra eavesdrops with pretty mouth agape.
At Big Bra Central:
Chatita is hanging up laundry when someone raps insistently at the door. Surprise! It's Discua's cleavage! Chatita tries to give her the bra -- after all, they're practically twins. (Discua and Chatita, that is. Get your minds out of the gutter.) Discua says that Chatita probably doesn't remember her, but she needs some advice. Chatita says she doesn't remember anybody; why should that slow down the therapy train? How about a drink? Discua replies that Beings of Light don't drink. Then she confesses that she's in love with a married man. Chatita gets the rompope.

Racap by Carlos
The cool girls, Doris (she's the governor's daughter in case
you forgot) and Mariana, her BFF and future stepmom, are hanging out in Doris'
room as the phone rings. Mariana answers and mouths to Doris, who's busy filing
her nails,
"It's him!"
Him is a desperate and confused Octavio who's furiously
seeking answers about recent events. but he's not gonna get them here... Doris
wants nothing to do with him.
|
She's Describing It For Me As We Speak. |
He picks up the phone and calls Maricruz. He tells her that
he is calling to congratulate her and say goodbye. Say what? She thought that
he's about to marry the governor's daughter. Nopis. No wedding, and worse, he's
been accused of horrible crimes. Maricruz looks confused.
Still busy with her nails, Doris explains to Mariana that
Octavio has decided not to marry her so she had him expelled from the island.
I wonder what they were talking about before he called if
she's just now telling Mariana about it.
"Then you don't
love him?"
"I may love him but my pride and dignity are much more
important than that..."
She will enjoy watching him suffer.

Weekend Discussion: Most Annoying Characters
Many
novelas have characters that just annoy us whether they were meant to
or not. This could be because of poor acting, the character's bad
timing, character stupidity, or just plain being out of place in the
story. This character can be any age and of either sex. These are characters we would never write into the story or wouldn't write the way they are appearing to us.
I'll start
by nominating Almira of Qué Bonito Amor. Her
inconsistent behavior in supporting and then slamming Maria's choices
would be gaslighting behavior in a villana, but she never quite comes
off as being intelligent enough to use this as a control tactic. That made all of us want to slap her flat.

La Tempestad, Cap. 34, Thursday, September 12: Madrina said there'd be days like this, there'd be days like this, Madrina said.
In the magical cave
DamFab and Marina lie together on the carpet of rose petals. She kisses his bare, chiseled chest, looks adoringly into his Bambi eyes and says:
En tus brazos me he hecho mujer. Eres el primer hombre en mi vida.
(In your arms, I became a woman. You are the first man in my life.)
DamFab replies:
Quiero ser el último también.
(I want to be the last one as well.)
[Some on the Patio are fanning themselves so furiously that they miss the mutual professions of forever and ever. In one corner, there is a debate going on: why didn't he say y el único? Technical loophole?]
A full moon rises. [In the damn sky, wise guys, in the damn sky.]
At Ernesto's little place in the country
Hernán can hardly believe his luck in stumbling upon Esthercita, known in these parts as "Hada." He'll have to see what he can do to jolly her memory along on the sly.

Qué Bonito Amor #108 (Mex 146) Thursday 9/12/13 Que Largo Camino
Paloma isn't in the mood to go to PE. She gets Roddy reminiscing about his mom and he rightly points out that her mom at least has a chance to recover, while his mom is dead. Paloma responds to his "put your big girl pants" pep talk on. A classmate nags them to get to PE. Since the budget can no longer accommodate the actress who plays the teacher.
Susanito goes looking for Irasema, who's packing at her old apartment. He apologizes for being an idiot, but he doesn't realize yet he's apologizing for the wrong thing.
Amalia is a pessimist. I know, I know, what a shock. Justo tells her there's always a tomorrow. Good thought, Justo. Give her the hope of living for another day to complain about something different. Amalia says she misses Pedro. Just also misses Altagracia. He didn't expect for her to be gone from his life before the kids were. Justo says he and Amalia can share their solitude.
Santos caresses the wall and tells Don Nando and Michael that he'll get out, damnit!
Maria uses Colosso's cell to call Justo.
Who's busy asking Amalia why she never remarried. "You're still a hot babe. Trust me. I'm a guy. We know these things." Justo answers his phone and leaves the room without letting Amalia know who called.

C I, Cap. 88, 9/12/13 – Vengeance Is Mine! Says MariCruz. And Mine! Says Doris.
It’s a casserole episode here: some chunks of meaty action layered with lots
of rehash and other filler, just in case you forgot or never knew what happened
waaay back. Short scenes may be combined.
Warmed Over from
Yesterday
Simona, with her upgraded image, reminds Octavio she always loved him, wanted
to marry him. He knows they’ve been BFF, but she’s all gorgeous now. (No
explanation on how the mole was removed so quickly.) She knows he loves
MariCruz and doesn’t love Doris, but she can offer a third option. She’ll settle
for being his wife and living at his side.
Tav Starts the
Next Round of Angry Spouses
Raiza
and MariAle see Tav enter the casino with a new lady on his arm. Simona is
amazed at how sophisticated and elegant MA appears. (Simona’s in a lavender and
lace gown, MA in dark blue with silver trim and long sleeves. It has near total coverage in the front and a
completely bare back except for a few silver strips.) MA should remember her,
but is doubtful until Tav says Simona’s full name.
Cautious courtesy follows between the two ladies, while Tav
and MA start some verbal sparring, based on her past and his taste in
women. She claims she’s still somewhat
bruta (coarse), but she’s going to marry the Gov and become a society lady. MA
tells Simona this is her best chance to marry Octavio. He praises Doris’ fine
qualities, and MA says that’s good, they’ll all get along living in the same
house. MA breaks off the useless arguing and sweeps Simona into the casino for
a tour.

PEAM #133- Easter, Thursday, September 12, 2013
The past:
In the ladies bathroom- Alma tells Virus to stay away from
Jesus.
At Avon, Xochy is whining about Rogue, Ferny, Discua and how
Rogue lied about Discua to keep them apart and the gossip league assures her that
Ferny loves her. Susana warns her
that if she keeps acting stupid she will lose Ferny.
Back to the ladies room, Virus tries to insult Paty but Paty
is not having it. Destroying a
child’s life, skank, Paty gives Virus back any insults that are thrown to her
including the one about being a mother and shoves Virus out of the bathroom by
using her for your foul revenge. Augusta
is singing Jesus’ praises to Alma including how good he looks, how smart he is
and that he did make the sales target but Alma lets Augusta know that Jesus is
hers and that he was healthy before he started working at Orion. The constant
pressures have stressed him out and advanced his ulcer.

Corazon Indomable, #87 Forget the Monkey, Where's the Mole?
I’m sitting at the patio of low expectations with the crowd to watch tonight’s episode. Everyone seems to be in a good mood. I will be giving bullet points as I am busy having a good time with all my Caray amigos.
We open with Mariana rushing to Doris’s bedroom after the maid tells her that Doris was screaming that she wanted to kill herself, and the patio shouting ‘Do it’.
Simona sits in the beauty salon with Jackie giving the hairdresser instructions to make her beautiful. Simona has her doubts.
Miguel is kinda sorta happy about selling the ranch, but on the other hand feels guilty that he’s letting his father down because his father loved it so much. Octavio, not so much.

La Tempestad Cap #33 Wed, 9/11/13 - Oh wee oh wee oh, I think I want to know ya, I want to take you to my cave, Girl I’d like to show ya*
*Apologies to Morris Day for paraphrasing and shuffling his “Jungle Love”
Last night we left our happy couple kissing passionately all over the beach, in the limpid sea, on a conveniently place blanket, and with that damned theme song crashing all around them. And yes, poor Dam DOES have sunburned shoulders.
Tonight our hero’s romantic inclinations become a bit more urgent, but Marina says she’s not quite ready for this yet. DamPatient laughs a little, says they’re not in a hurry and have all the time in the world. He asks if Marina is hungry. (Because he sure as heck is, so to speak.) Let’s eat!

PEAM #132- 9/11/13: He Has Risen! Oh Well....I Am Sure He Will!!!
Recap By Pablo
I wanna be an actor. In this episode Jesús spent the whole time laying down ''unconscious'' and still gets paid.
Due to the many problems that Verónica has brought into his life Jesús is now dead.
Well, almost. His pulse is very weak, his chronic gastric ulcer has caused him an internal hemorrage and he has lost 90% of his blood. To make matters worse, his blood type is AB negative, a very rare, very, very rare type... Oh, telenovela Gods, please make someone in Monterrey have his same type, please!! Jesús still has 50 episodes left, a daughter to take care of and a huge pile of overdue work at Orión!
Not everything is milk and honey.. Now that Fernando has married Xóchitl, according to Murphy's law, Discua is back, and she wants him!! She is under the Universe's microscope and she thinks she deserves him!

La Tempestad Cap #32. September 10th 2013. The return of the WET WHITE PANTS! Alternative Title: Too Much Happiness Can't Be Good In A TN That Isn't About To End!
Boy, what an episode! Ok, let's skip the rehash and get to the new stuff....
|
Mayuya looks like she is about to snap |
Mayuya, the venomous snake, can't keep her venom inside any longer. She marches on over to where Familia Reverte, Jose, and Hernan are sitting at and yells at Marina that she's a hypocrite! Marina, our lovely heroine, isn't about to take crap from a venomous snake like Mayuya. She gets up and and yells at Mayuya "What did you just call me?". Mayuya lunges at Marina (and is very subtly held back by a smitten and dare I say it a very foolish Lolo) and calls Marina a hypocrite again. Padre whose sermon was interrupted walks on over to where the all commotion is happening and tells Mayuya to show more respect for God's house. "But this whore (fulana) showed no respect for Esthercita's feelings. Let everyone in town know that this woman is to blame for Esthercita's death. She killed her. She killed Esthercita" yells Mayuya. Reactions all around!
DamFab is a just a few blocks away from church. He stops to thoughtbubble what a blessing it is to be alive although what happened to Esthercita hurts him. He then continues on his way to church.

Qué Bonito Amor #106 (Mex 144) Tuesday 9/10/13 One Feared Dead in Daring Escape Attempt from L.A. Prison
“In any situation, the villain is the person who knows the most but
cares the least.”
Quote from I was the Black Hat by Chuck Klosterman.
“In all telenovela situations, the villain is the person who
thinks he knows the most but only cares about himself….and usually has an
appropriate punishment meted out as justice for the victims at the very end.”
Quote made up by Anita, applying telenovela law, as we close in toward the end of
QBA with some villains still on the loose.
Good evening, amigos, Anita here, reporting live from outside the
El-Lay Prision Estatal. This could be a United States Penitentiary, a maximum
security facility. There are three in
California—Atwater, Lompoc and Victorville.
But, it could also be a Federal Correctional Institution, for low or
medium security prisoners. There are six in California—Dublin (for women),
Herlong, Lompoc, Mendota, Terminal Island and Victorville (for women). Or, it could even be a facility for holding
pre-trial offenders. They are the Metropolitan Correctional Center in San Diego
and the Metropolitan Detention Center in Los Angeles. These are all operated by the Federal Bureau
of Prisons, a subsidiary of the U.S. Department of Justice.
Detention and Processing Centers run by ICE, a subdivision
of the Department of Homeland Security are vastly different. Currently, ICE detains immigrants in fifteen
detention centers nationwide (including privatized facilities), in state and
local jails, in juvenile detention centers, and in shelters. [Thank you
Wikipedia]
Your intrepid reporter for the El Lay Tiempos is here, early
Wednesday morning, on the grounds of the El Lay Prision Estatal waiting for a
spokesperson to emerge to give us details on this late-breaking news story of a
prison break by several extremely dangerous prisoners. We’ve heard rumors that
one is dead, maybe more, but at least one has been recaptured. Meanwhile we’ll fill you in with background
stories from the last couple of days of those involved.
If you want to go directly to the story of the break-out, it’s
on page A-15 (The Prison Break).
Although this takes place in El-Lay, it is a Dumb and
Dumber-free episode. We assume they are
on their honeymoon.

PEAM, Tuesday 9/10/13 (#131): Happy Birthday, Valentina!
Or, "Where's a Bucket When You Need One?"
They always say to accentuate the positive. If I do that with tonight's recap, it will be very, very short and Morónica will be the only character in it.
Here goes: Vero has Chucho arrested for visiting his daughter on her birthday, and then she keeps the necklace that Paty sent back to Rogelio and wears it in front of him and then makes him wear it and drives him crazy wondering how she got it.
That's it! Good night!

Corazon Indomable, #86, 9/10/13 Miguel can read a newspaper, Simona visits the isla just in time for her makeover and Doris likes to fake it
Hello, Patio People, it’s been a while since my last recap, so I feel a little
rusty. But, here goes...
Pretty in pink Maricruz is in her office, wondering about whether
Octavio knows that Doris tried to kill her or not. Oh well, here is a
nice little project for MC to take care of. She picks up the phone and dials
her adorable tormento, who is still
in the hospital.
Octavio is happy to hear her, but he hides his feelings quickly, using
his usual mask of mockery and condescension (this is a word, right?). They Señor/ Señora each other while MC tells
him that something muy grave
happened, and no, it definitely has nothing to do with their daughter (like
she’d ever share such an information with him) – it’s about his muchachita enamorada (Doris, in case
anyone wondered), who tried to assassinate her.
Tav: Are you joking, Señora?
MC: No, Señor, your muchachita histerica almost killed me
because she hates me. And she hates me because I’m marrying her dad.
Tav: If you’re marrying her dad, she has all the rights! (This is not a
joke, he actually said that!)

Robles is driving down the road and suddenly loses control
of his car. He hits a pole and is knocked unconscious.
Damian talks to Mercedes on the phone. She is happy to hear
that he is recuperating. Damian promises soon he will be fishing again.
Mercedes just wants him to get well. As soon as she finishes up her business

I will give you some good news. Marina wants to know what good news he's going

smiling that sexy smile. That you and I are going to get married. I know it may
be a little soon to talk about, but after everything that has happened; I just
want to spend the rest of my life with you. They kiss.
Beatriz can't believe that Hernan wants her to lie to her
daughter. He thinks this is the only way that they can separate Marina from
Damian. We can't allow them to be together. You're the only one that can break
them apart otherwise this will end in matrimony. Beatriz says she would be
upset if Marina ended up with someone that didn't deserve her. She is sentencing
herself to unhappiness. Beatriz decides to listen to Hernan and help break up
Marina and Damian.

PEAM #130-9/9/13: Daddy Jesus Ruins His Beloved Daughter's Birthday Party!
I am sure Cheryl is having a lot of fun in Italy, so we will have our fun too!
Welcome to my first
Monday recap subbing for Cheryl. Fasten your seatbelts, this will be a bumpy ride!
Recap By Pablo
How often do these people switch intros back and forth? I am getting dizzy!!
Interest has feet (el interés tiene pies)
Elías brings sweet bread to Chatita's house for breakfast but she has tamales of gallaga or guava or guayaba, I didn't understand, besides her selective amnesia, she has some kind of speech impairment. Later she said she has a lot of eggs, what in mexican slang means she is very courageous. The bigger the eggs, the bigger the courage!
Elías didn't actually want to have breakfast, but asks Chatita about Patricia and her feelings for him.
Chatita has found out Elías suffers the syndrome of ''Knight in shining armor'' rescuing damsels in distress.
Verónica is neurotic, Marisela is not happy with who she is, Marta is crazy, Patricia is a mess, do you really want to keep that pattern?

Corazon Indomable #85, 9/9/13: Lupita’s Mommy and Daddy Continue to Pimp Themselves; Let’s Hope She Doesn’t Follow in the Family Business
The Old: Tav tries to break up with Doris; she refuses to be
broken up with. Mari treats us to a Venganza Monologue (thanks Adriana) about
how Rancho Narvaez will be “MIO!”
The New: The next day (new outfit indicates this), Maria
Alejandra is enjoying a quiet moment, doing work in her office and surprisingly
NOT giving us a Venganza Monologue, when all of a sudden La Hija del Gobernador
bursts in, packing heat. Doris, dressed very fashionably and tastefully for
murder, in a grey and black chiffon dress, points her handgun at Mari,
steadying it with her left hand, and says, “You are NOT going to marry my
father, and you certainly aren’t going to end up with my boyfriend!”
All of this makes Ester, La Loca, look very sane as she
continues to dig for water with a garden trowel in Realengo. Her blind neighbor
girl, Lina, passes by and Ester lures her over with some bread. Lina especially
likes sweet bread and mentions that her dad brings her bread, sometimes. Ester
can’t contain her enchantment with the little girl and kisses her hand, which
both surprises and pleases Lina. She asks if Ester isn’t evil (as is being said
about her). Ester explains that she’s just a bit undone/frayed (deshilachada/o)
at the moment, which happens sometimes when something bad or sad has happened
in someone’s life. She offers to tell Lina a fairytale. We see the beginnings
of a beautiful friendship.
Back to the real Locas, on the Island…Mari tells Doris to
pull the trigger, “Do it!” Doris wonders if Mari doesn’t think she’s capable of
doing it. Mari does, but she’s not scared of her.
D: Your life is at risk if you keep provoking me.
M: What do you mean by that? That if I don’t provoke you, you’re not capable of
firing? Poor deluded girl (ilusa). I’m
going to marry your father when I damn well feel like it! And your boyfriend,
even if I stop being his wife, I have him so much in my hands that if I asked
him to, he wouldn’t marry you!
Mari lunges for Doris reaching for the gun, they struggle
over it, Doris’s arm is wrapped around Mari’s neck, but Mari manages to bite
Doris’s hand, making her drop the gun. Mari grabs the gun and points it at Doris.
D: You damn ferocious beast (fiera)!
M: Call me Savage! That’s what everyone calls me! Go ahead! Now, get the hell
out of here!
Doris refuses to leave, so Mari calls security to have her
dragged out.

Qué Bonito Amor #104 (Mex 142) Friday 9/6/13 While Maria Aims High, Santos Is Still Feeling Lower Than Low and Justo Has A Bull's Eye Painted On The Middle of His Chest

(Ok. So, is she camping out with the Blue Haired Babes or what?) Mirna now has set her sights on Son Of Concho.

PEAM #129-9/6/13: What Time Is It? Time For The Debut Of The Monterrey Tattler, Oh, And Film At Eleven!

The Old Gossip:

Cantu and Rogue have new mis planes to get rid of Discua.
Ferny is trying his best to not think about Discua, good luck with that.
Chucho finds Augusta in his office and immediately has a distressed stomach. Could it possibly be stress?

Corazon Indomable #84: The Plight of Esther & Doris Makes Little Steps Towards Crazyville
Rehashed
We start with MA adamantly denying her interest in Octavio.
She tells him he is the father of her child so she should feel a little worried
but nothing more is going on. El Governor gives her a skeptical “who are you
kidding” look (as he should) and wonders if she is really sure of her feelings.
New
Octavio ponders that MA/MC does not care about him since she
has not been to the hospital to visit him (aww boo-hoo…not!). He then flips the
switch and gets angry saying he will speak to his lawyer so that he can see his
daughter. Eduardo and Aracely interrupt his solo conversation with a visit. Ed
tells him that leg of his must be bi-ionic (viewerville nods in agreement).
Aracely informs Octavio that Ed was part of a rescue team to look for him.
Oblivio asks him why (umm, he is your friend right?). Ed gets uncomfortable and
tells him not to ask so many questions. Oblivio was hoping that MC organized
the whole thing. Ed tells him that of course MC fretted over his disappearance
but Oblivio believes what he wants to believe.
Doris and Co. are in what appears to be a club/discoteca
(have they run out of money again because this looks like someone’s house with
seizure lights flashing in the background). Doris is thinking of staying for a while to
see the boyfriend in the day and then take advantage of the D.F nightlife. She
also wants to make sure he is divorced so she can have dibs and marry her
pilito!

La Tempestad 30, Friday September 6, 2013 Trot Out the Tropes
A Patio of Lowered Expectations Discussion
“Dear Friends” – EJ
taps on her glass to get the attention of the folks on the Patio, “We begin
tonight’s recap with a quote from Sylvia’s Thursday night recap:
‘Ernesto’s pretend son loves Bea’s adopted daughter
who doesn’t know she’s Merce’s real kid who loves the son of the man her real
mom loved, who is hated by the man who secretly loves her mom, and a shark
dines tonight’. (Wry appreciative laughter
on Patio.)
“Sylvia’s hilarious summation of La Tempestad episode
28 compels me to ruminate a bit on the use of the trope in storytelling. The Oxford
American Dictionary defines trope as:
“A significant or recurrent theme; a motif”. In common
parlance the word is often used to describe an idea or theme that is too
often recurrent, thus rendering many ‘tropes’ trite. Several
years ago, recapper Julia came up with a definitive list of trite tropes that
are used in telenovelas*. Julia identified dozens of such themes and created TN
Bingo, which we played online for quite a while.
Tonight’s exercise will be to follow the happenings
in La Nuestra Señora del Mar through the device of just a few telenovela tropes
as applied to our La Tempestad characters, rather than reporting sequentially,
as we frequently do.”
Telenovela
Trope number 1: Confused Identities
In Ernesto’s Palace of Shame, a group of female
slaves are paraded before His Evilness. He is particularly attracted to the
stunning and silent woman. Macario tells Ernesto that she has not spoken since
the storm and for this reason he has given her a special name, Hada, or ‘Fairy’.
Of course we know Hada as Estercita, saved from the boat explosion, la tormenta,
and the aftermath by the unkindness of strangers. They found her, saw she was
pretty and decided she would fetch a good price on the slave market. As Hada is introduced to Ernesto, he says,
“Very well, Hada. You will have a good time with me.” And, although a loud
chorus is heard from the Patio, encouraging Ester/Pester/Hada to run for her
life, the little Fairy does not hear us as she allows Ernesto to kiss her hand.

La Tempestad, Cap. 29, Thursday, Sept 5: Esthercita joins the family business.
Valdivia removes DamFab's oxygen mask and presses a pillow over his preternaturally beautiful face (Dam's, not Valdivia's). "Die, my captain!" Lara watches the show through the window, wishing he had brought some Jujubes.
Marina's two mommies stroll down the hospital hallway thinking they are on the way to becoming besties. They join Rebeca and hunky José in the waiting area and learn that Marina has stepped out for a moment with Hernán. Since that means Eusebia is alone with DamFab, Mercedes decides to check on her and see if she needs anything.
Lara spots Merce heading towards the ICU and he quickly taps on the glass to alert Valdivia who is still pressing on the Dam pillow. Lara runs away and Valdivia ducks under Dam's bed. Out in the hallway, Merce comes upon Eusebia sprawled on the floor, unconscious. There are no doves hovering. This could be serious.

Qué Bonito Amor #103 (Mex 141) Thursday 9/5/13 Que Preocupantes Desplomos
As he's being escorted back to his cell, another inmate playing Celia Cruz's "La Vida Es Un Carnaval" makes him recall better (?) times back at Ay Jalisco with Lalo and Pichi…pues, being Lalo and Pichi-esque.
With her fingers crossed behind her back, Elvira swears she had nothing to do with Maria losing her baby.
Mirna gets evicted.
Fernando gets slapped by Ana for kissing her…then he does it again and gets shoved…so he gives up and leaves before she can chuck a pillow at him.
Maria gives Elvira permission to come back to the bar until Concho recovers. But she still doesn't trust that immoral skank. She just wanted to see how far Elvira would go.
Santos got mail in prison from Maria, but he doesn't want to accept it. He borrows the guard's pen to write something on the envelope and tells him to send it back. He actually had a pencil in his pocket, which he now proposes to use to draw Maria's face.

CI Cap. 83, 9/5/13 The Suspense Is Unbearable. Will Octavio Survive?
Previously,
more or less
Octavio is stretched out in the
plowed corn field—umm, let’s make that the desolate reaches of the uninhabited island
where the plane crashed. He can’t feel his leg anymore and he’s sure this will
be his grave. (You won’t need a grave, guapo, ‘cuz the animals are going to eat
you.)
In that alternate reality known as
Isla Dorada, Karim, Ed, and MariAle are holding a strategy session. MA’s
mission statement—to be the first to find our fallen pilot. She loves him and
will pay any price to save him. (What happened
to Don Ale’s private plane? MA could
have used it, with Ed as pilot.) They’ll leave in the morning and hope for
luck.
Miguel and Lucia are entitled to chime
in on a brother’s fate, so they do. Is the search a part of MA’s revenge on
them or due to love for her estranged hubby?
New
action, more or less
Lucia calls the doc to confirm
MiniMigi’s surgery arrangements. He should be there by 8 am for tests before
the operation. (We could compare this to actual pre-surgery protocols, but we
won’t take the time since we have a search and rescue operation underway.)

Qué Bonito Amor #102 (Mex 140) Wednesday 9/4/13 We were just looking at buildings for fun. That's what prisoners do.
Que Bonito Amor Cap 140, 9-4-13: We were just looking at buildings for fun. That's what prisoners do.
Hola everyone! It appears I will be subbing again! This is a last minute thing, so keep your expectations low!
SCENES ARE CONDENSED AND NOT ALWAYS IN ORDER. PLEASE READ COMMENTS FOR OTHER RELEVANT DETAILS THAT I'LL PROBABLY MISS!
We have a refrito of yesterday, starting with the college teacher trying to convince Maria to get her degree pronto with sweetheart workshop/test deal (two weeks and she's got her diploma). Maria wants to blow it off to see JAntos; Wendy and her mom try to talk her out of it. JAntos and Michael meet up with a forgetful old prisoner geezer who is undoubtedly Fernando's dad, and JAntos and Michael are busted in the warden's office while looking for the prison blueprints online. (Don't even get me started on this.)
|
When confronted by the guards, Michael, who apparently is a Golden Boy among the guards and warden, is able to explain away their presence there by saying they're looking up buildings 'for fun'. (Note JAntos's extremely shifty expression here.) The guards are skeptical but let them go. |
Amalia is having pains in her shoulder due to her illness. Wendy wants Amalia to tell Maria; Amalia doesn't want to worry Maria at this time. She asks Wendy to keep it a secret.

He is all alone in the wilderness and now the animals will eat him! CI Wed Sept. 4th
Hi patio peeps, I'm finally back, although the virus still seems to be giving me issues, at any rate I hope you enjoy the recap. Eli
Tonight we are all going to learn what not do in the event of a plane crash.
At the crash site Octavio and his passengers and crew all manage to make it out alive, he shouts to everyone to keep calm, everything will be okay. I don't know why he did this because everyone seems calm enough, actually they all seem way too calm for people that just survived a plane crash, but I'm not going to over think this. Anyhoo, Octavio goes off in search for help with an injured leg, no water, and no compass to show him the way. Folks, I think one of the brain cells was injured during the crash and poor Octavio is down to one brain cell. Pray for him.

La Tempestad Cap #28 Wed, 9/4/13- Ernesto’s pretend son loves Bea’s adopted daughter who doesn’t know she’s Merce’s real kid who loves the son of the man her real mom loved, who is hated by the man who secretly loves her mom, and a shark dines tonight.
OK folks. I’m sitting here with my needle and thread in case I have to stitch together 5 episodes like our stalwart Mauricio did. I’m also feeling very short of breath. Help! Jose! Pick me up and carry me somewhere! (Wasn’t he awesome last night when he hoisted Bea so effortlessly?) I’m also looking forward to Delfina pitching another fit, calling Fulgencio an asesino five times, and then flinging herself onto the fainting sofa. She did that scene like three times last night, didn’t she? I envy her energy.
Redux: Hunky Jose arrives with the news that the boat explosion was deliberate. It was planned. Oh goodie, we get a review of Delfina’s final and bestest tirade from last night. Blame! Freaky eyes! (Police guy sneaks out.) Asesino x 7! Later, Fulgencio punches Hernan, wheeeee! Mercedes, the future replacement mother, comforts Marina and says “her mother” will never abandon her. She would be creepy if we didn’t know she was good.
New stuff: Hernan asks Fully what would he gain by exploding Pestercita? We are partners! Fully swears he’s going to get the guy who caused Pestercita’s death. Hernan, blood dripping from mouth, (Yes Cynderella, there be vampires) swears that if Fully lays a hand on him again he’s going to kill him. Fulgencio looks somewhat amused at this revelation.

PEAM #127-9/4/13: The Wedding We All Were Waiting For, Well, Not Really....Just Discua!
Recap by Pablo
May you dream with the little angels
Elías and Patricia talk about changes and sports. Every time she says something that she should be doing but she is not, Elías bring it up and she gets that she is failing that. 2 against 0 in the argument department. Elías is right, some women just talk because they have an opening in the middle of their face they call a mouth.
In the other side of the city, Vero lifts the tortilla basket and Royer won't sleep with her tonight. Sex diet is the worse a man can try to do, specially when it is against his will.
In Xóchitl's house we hear a -wink- and we see her hiding Discua from Fernando. Yes! You heard it right! Discua is now advertising the Discua-tronic, so if you can not have her, you can have her body, or at least try, because hers is not a body exercise can shape... wink! Did I hear false advertisement?
In the poor area of the city, Alma and Jesús are naked in bed. Looks like they already had ''a special night'', or maybe it was '' a special 5 minutes''? Juárever, while oozing honey from all the right places, we see Fireworks popping like poppies
and saying something like love, commitment, trust, faithfulness, respect, western union, safe sex, and so on...
SIGH (yes, only 55 episodes left)
Xóchitl, to justify the reason she has disconnected the TV set so Fernando couldn't hear Discua's ad, has concocted a lie that later she will have to cover with another one and many more until they fall down like an avalanche. Finally she offers sex and that's the end of it, since no man in his right mind will never reject that, ever!! Looks like Alejandra is teaching her the right things.
After less than 5 minutes, when everything is over, she leaps from the bed and runs to ask Jesús if he can walk her down the Church's isle on her wedding day. Alma, who always wants to know more than she should, wants to buy her the wedding dress so they can talk on the way to the Boutique Esencia Española.

La Tempestad Capitulo 27. September 3 2013. DamFab Is MIA; PesterEster Is MIA; And Some Scenes Are MIA As Well
Greetings Everyone! Unfortunately, Uni decided to butcher Caps 28-30 into one whole episode. This is really frustrating since it made the whole episode so hard to follow. The least Uni could do was butcher it in a way that would make sense. I'm going to try my best and recap this poorly edited episode.
We begin with Hernan apologizing to Marina for having confessed his feelings in such a savage way. Marina apologies to him. She tells him that it was not her intention to hurt him or offend him. Hernan tells Marina that he is a different man. He has changed thanks to her. Haven't you noticed? he asks. Marina tells Hernan that she still sees him as being the same as before. Oh no she didn't! What do you mean? Do you mean that I am still that stupid boy who had no self-esteem? Marina says that what she meant is that he has become a successful man. Hernan tells Marina that he'll never been sucessful without her love. I don't feel like a complete man if I'm not with you. I am a different man thanks to you. I was able to get out of the dark where I lived because you taught me to not be afraid to feel or love. I am the man that I am because of you. Ok, if this had just been said by someone who hadn't just blown up his rival then maybe I would be touched by his sweet words to Marina. Marina rolls her eyes and tells Hernan that he gives her too much credit. You are a good friend, a generous man, and I didn't teach you that. Since we found each other you have offered your help, says Marina. Hernan says yeah and I'll finally be able to offer you all that help that will be a lot. He has had the contract written out that will pass on some shares of the packing plant to him. He hands Marina the contract and tells him that this is his proposal. He tells her that she just has to read it over and then sign it to close the deal. Marina begins to read. Hernan thoughtbubbles and admires Marina's beauty. He thoughtbubbles that now that DamFab is gone Marina will find protection in his not so DamManlyMusucular arms. Dream on, buddy!

PEAM, Tuesday 9/3/13 (#126): Day of the Bucket
Rewind: Rogue calls Pancho, Pancho Lopez to brag about Avon's victory over Orion in the Big Concurso (just in case Pancho hadn't heard... or watched it on TV). Rogue takes full credit. When Pancho asks about Alma, Rogue says sure, she helped a little - but that's what he hired her for.
Xochi has a meltdown over Discua's infomercial and feels that she must marry Fernando immediately. Jessica hasn't cancelled her wedding reservations yet, so Xochi can get married that day instead!
Rai gives Valentina a bottle of heat-activated ink.
Upset that his newfound daddy is sending him to school in LA for free, Melquiades picks a fight with Chucho outside. (The immediate vicinity is suspiciously vacant.) Chucho drops his crutches and jabs at Melkie's face. This easy love-tap knocks Melkie to the ground with a nosebleed. Melkie runs away but forgets his jacket. Chucho passes the jacket to him on the tip of a crutch.

Qué Bonito Amor #101 (Mex 139) Tuesday 9/3/13 Say, you look familiar, and a new Godfather is in town
Que Bonito Amor Cap 139, 9-03-13—Say, you look familiar; and a new Godfather is in town
Hola everyone. I'm filling in tonight!
EVENTS MAY BE CONDENSED AND NOT LISTED IN STRICT ORDER, TO SAVE MY SANITY.
JAntos talks to the moon through the bars of his cell and says how it's been his and Maria's "accomplice" and wants the moon (???) to assist Maria in living her life happily "for the both of them," since his life is over and everything's turned to crap. But, he tells the moon, even though his life is crap, he will never stop loving Maria.
|
Talkin' to the moon while in prison. What else would a guy do? |
Meanwhile, Maria is mooning over JAntos (heh—see what I did there?) and Wendy comes over to apologize for being such a bitch, mentions that JAntos is such a sweet guy that he's forgiven her even though she turned her back on him, yadda yadda. Maria is very warm to her. She tells Wendy that even though she didn't get her travel visa that she'll find a way to see JAntos.
The Godfather got Orange Guiliano out of prison by lies and fake alibis and whatever, and Guilano is on his knees, grateful for it all. But the Godfather doesn't want to hear it, he wants to bump off Guiliano who has proven to be useless! He pulls out a gun . . . Uh oh!
Meanwhile, Derecho is pissed that the Godfather got Guiliano out, and is starting to suspect that Justo is right, and the Godfather is behind all of this. He and Curtis will pay the Godfather a visit.
Back with Orangie and the Godfather, they struggle for the gun and it goes off!
JAntos and Michael are talking about Wendy's baby and JAntos is grateful for Michael being willing to take on Wendy's kid. Darren (blue-eyed earring guy) comes in and informs them that Orangie got out of prison. Major impactado!
The Godfather is dead, long live the Godfather! Orangie takes the old Godfather's hat and puts it on, and looks insane as he proclaims that he's the Godfather now. And he vows to get JAntos! Crazy dude doing all of this while the old Godfather is assuming room temperature on the floor.
|
Let's hope that the old Godfather didn't have any head lice. On second thought, let's hope he did . . . |

Corazon Indomable #80, 9/2/ 2013: Doom, Gloom, and an Unhappy Bride & Groom
Recap by LatinaInMD
Both parts are now up.
Previously: After some deep
thought-bubbling, Octavio admits to himself that he has always loved
Maricruz. Esther kisses her baby, then
Sooty Clory (Clorinda) places him in his basket with hot bottles; Esther is
concerned the baby is so quiet, as No-Class Jackass (Jose Antonio) tries to
reassure her. Eduardo and Araceli’s
wedding takes place. (For more details,
see Carlos’ brilliant recap of episode #79).
Esther touches the baby and screams that he is cold.
Bride and groom march down the aisle to the sounds of “Here
Comes the Bride,” as Octavio and MariAle march arm-in-arm close behind them. They exchange a few verbal jabs, then MariAle
asks Octavio if he would like to be the padrino at her wedding to the guv; he
declines, saying it is of “little importance” to him. Flirty Doris
approaches, tells Octavio he looks gorgeous and suggests a long night of
dancing to celebrate “THIS” – whatever “this” is. He does his best to annoy MariAle by flirting
right back at Doris, taking her arm, and then walking away with her, without so
much as a “see ya” to MariAle. Not to be
outdone, MariAle goes up to the guv and begins her own bit of flirting. The two sparring spouses continue their little
“Who’s the best flirt?” contest, partnering with their respective paramours while
continuing to eye each other from time to time.
Meanwhile, things are looking quite gloomy on the rocky Royal
Lands (that’s what “Realengo” means). As
Esther desperately screams for Jackass to bring the baby to her, Sooty Clory
and No-Class Jackass are now outside the Neo-Shotgun-Style shack (so dubbed for
all those shotgun holes in the walls).
The look on Jackass’ ashen face says it all. (Sorry Carlos; I at least knew what was
coming, but this must be a shock for you.)
As Clory helplessly tries to do something, it’s pretty clear the little
angel is no more. (Let’s observe a moment
of silence in his memory, shall we? Oh,
no, says Mrs. Mejia. That won’t do. Instead, let’s cut briefly to the
philandering hubby smooching with his fiancée right in front of his wife. Bravo, Mrs. Mejia. Your sensitivity knows no bounds.) Jackass asks Clory if she is sure the baby is
dead. She suggests he touch him. Jackass touches the baby and reacts with
somewhat genuine sorrow, but given his recent behavior, it somehow rings
hollow. – uhm, that rhyme was not
intentional.)

Qué Bonito Amor #99 (Mex 137) Friday 8/30/13 Santos Gets His Wish
In El Lay, Santos says his last Good-Bye to papi Justo,
he tells Michael and Darren he’d rather sacrifice his life than that of his
loved ones—but boy would he love to have at it with Guilliano! Darren says that can be arranged. The guards arrive a couple minutes later and
take Mikey and Santos to their new cell.
Yep they’re gonna be cell mates.
Horny old Ruben figures if he can’t have the one he wants he’ll love the
one he’s with (apologies to Sr. Sills).
La Trampira de Elvira is down with that.
